"Rudebox" - THE ALBUM
Why does it matter what the press say? If you like the album isn't that enough? Seems to me you're more a fan because of the sales than you are a fan of the man himself. It's something he's obviously enjoyed, you can hear that. If he's not bothered about promoting it, why should you be?

October 2006 News
Britpop's baddest bad boys go green with latest videos THEY may be some of the most quintessentially English pop stars around but that has not stopped Robbie Williams and Oasis turning to Dublin for inspired ideas for their latest albums. The musical giants have hired Irish production companies to come up with imaginative videos for their newest releases. Production company Venom's offering to accompany Williams' track 'Bongo Bong,' scheduled as the third single release from 'Rudebox,' features actors in a southside Dublin cul de sac. Meanwhile, Oscar-nominated Dublin animation company Brown Bag's creation for the Gallagher brothers, is completely animated and includes a cartoon of Liam Gallagher playing a tambourine. The video sees Oasis transported into a stunning world based entirely on the paintings of the famous Manchester artist LS Lowry. It was created for Oasis' re-released single 'Masterplan'. Venom's video is one of seven short films commissioned by Williams' to accompany tracks on his latest album. Filmmaker Ken Wardrop and his business partner Andrew Freedman were given the green light by Williams because of their previous work, including the award-winning short 'Undressing My Mother'. The result was their video for 'Bongo Bong', the premise of which is a valley of squinting windows, inspired by a south Dublin cul-de-sac. Ranelagh native Freedman said the pair were thrilled with the pop star's commission. "Working for Robbie has been a great opportunity," he said. He has been very supportive, and approved our treatment of the track, which is basically a mockumentary about a man who lives on a cul de sac, and everyone's views of that person. "It's going to be available in a mixed format - on DVD, online and on Channel 4." Meanwhile, Brown Bag Films has just released its Oasis video after the badboy rockers requested they turn them into cartoon characters. Brown Bag, which is famous for its cartoon 'Give Up Yer Aul Sins', has come up with a video for a single that was originally released as a B-side on 'Wonderwall'. Unusually, 'Masterplan' is sung by Noel rather than Liam Gallagher - although Liam was not one to be left out. "One of the requests we got from Liam was that he be sitting at a side stage playing a tambourine," said Brown Bag producer Jackie Leonard. it." Cathal Gaffney and Darragh O'Connell's video, which has up to 450 characters, lasts just over five minutes. It is the first release from the band's new greatest hits collection 'Stop All The Clocks'. www.unison.ie

"Rudebox" - THE ALBUM
From Music Week McFly to topple My Chemical Romance 24 October 2006 - 11:16:16 McFly are poised to replace My Chemical Romance at the top of the singles chart this week, after early sales reports indicate Star Girl (Island) is outselling all comers since its release yesterday. Girls Aloud’s much-fancied Something Kinda Ooooh (Fascination) looks destined to settle for the runner-up slot, with stiff competition from Fedde Le Grand’s Put Your Hands Up For Detroit (Data), which rises from last week’s position of 79 to three. Beyonce’s Irreplaceable (Columbia) and The View’s Superstar Tradesman (1965) both rise into the Top 10, with Amy Winehouse’s Rehab (Island) and The Magic Number’s Take A Chance (Heavenly) fighting to break into the upper tier. Other likely Top 30 entries will come from The Kooks (Virgin), The Long Blondes (Rough Trade), The Raconteurs (XL), Rihanna (Def Jam) and Bodyrox feat. Luciana (UMTV). A wealth of new entries in the album chart Top Ten is set to give the market a 22% boost, with new entries from John Legend (Columbia), Rod Stewart (J), Meat Loaf (Mercury), My Chemical Romance (Warner Bros) all being pipped by Robbie Williams, whose Rudebox (Chrysalis), sold 20,000 copies more than its nearest rival on its release yesterday. The Ordinary Boys’ How To Get Everything You Ever Wanted (B-Unique/Polydor) will narrowly miss out on a Top 10 placing, while albums from Pet Shop Boys (Parlophone), Meat Loaf’s Best Of (Sony TV/Virgin) and Elaine Paige (UMTV/W14) will settle for entries outside the Top 40.

"Rudebox" - THE ALBUM
I think that some of the songs will be difficult for a non fan to get. The lyrics on the 90's only mean something if you know the background. This album is still blowing me away and I love the fact that Fil is playing on Viva Life On Mars. I don't skip anything on this album, bit of a change from the last one where I skipped the whole thing

Take That
I love it and i'm sure that the other boys will have more input into other songs on the album I think they're looking and sounding great. Gary's voice is better than ever. I'm just waiting for them to announce another tour

"Rudebox" - THE ALBUM
Once people hear it and word spreads and people put aside their steriotypical ideas, I think this album will be huge in the UK Unlike IC it will stay around for a long time and if he releases the right singles, it will go on to be his best selling album. Oh and it's no 1 on Amazon on my computer ;) and I love this album so much it hurts.

Rudebox, the album: The reviews
The Telegraph give it a nice review too. On the back of a stadium tour and with last year's seven-million-selling album still presumably fresh in his fans' minds, Britain's most popular entertainer makes an unexpectedly rapid return with the most eclectic and yet madly compelling album of his career.Electro-pop, hip-hop, surrealist rap (in a northern comic meets ragga MC style), romantic crooning, space-age country and western, disco, world rhythms and Bowie-esque balladeering all vie for space, sometimes in the same song. Crammed with hooks, rippling with snappy couplets, replete with some of the oddest cover versions ever released by a major star (one of which has Williams belting out "We're the Pet Shop Boys" with the Pet Shop Boys), the almost frantic mix of styles and ideas risks confusing and even alienating some of Williams's mainstream audience, yet it is probably the record that most reflects his complex inner world He's like a hyperactive manchild with attention deficit disorder, rooting around in a musical toy box, using (to quote a typical glib yet revealing couplet) "my cuts and lacerations/ To feed myself a new sensation". If you stumbled across this on MySpace, you might think a pop genius had been born. Neil McCormick

Latin VMA Awards
The Williams puts on a wild show at the MTV Latin America Music Awards... Robbie Williams bared his bum and snogged a fan in a sensational display at the MTV Latin America Music Awards in Mexico last night (October 19). The singer, who took home the Best International Pop Artist gong, was performing his appropriately named tune 'Rudebox' when he grabbed his crotch, exposed his nipples and then decided to drop his kegs. With the crowd going wild at the sight of his not-at-all dimply derriere he then gabbed a fan in the front row of the audience and planted a smacker on her lips - and what started out as a (kind of) innocent peck soon turned into a full-on snog. If that wasn't enough the singer then shocked the audience with a cheeky acceptance speech as he picked up his special TONGUE-shaped award - "Thank you I would like to place this on your clitoris," he beamed.
