Hallelujah! I hope all the Lady Gaga / Britney Spears / Justin Bieber / Miley Cyrus cheesy crap disappears from the charts in favour of more sophisticated and underground sounds. Another wishful thing is to stop the influence from the terrible American market replacing it by the imports from the continental Europe that has so much more valuable music!
  2. Other for singles : for example Stromae, Swedish House Mafia, Hurts or Yolanda Be Cool. Mumford and Sons for albums' crown.

How come this crap by Eminem and Rihanna returned to number 1? Roll Deep's song is far from brilliant but "Love The Way You Lie" would easily be one of the worst chart toppers ever :puke2:
  4. Hoosiers and Plan B

The whole Top 3 is pretty crap, The Hoosiers should be there!

I don't like this band. Why would you buy an album on download in the first place? Paying for the product I won't even see or touch is weird to me.

Awful song, if chart positions were reflecting quality, it would have already peaked. Anyway, it would be fun to see it peak lower on proper release than prematurely

I don't know why so many people seem to adore these two awful tracks that lead iTunes chart at the moment - both Airplanes and California Gurls are utterly dreadful. Far from being a JLS fan, I still wish they held the top spot on the official chart come Sunday even though their new song is fairly weak too.

What the heck is this Glee Cast??

I'm so happy for Florence & The Machine's sudden success! The track may not be their best effort but it's still an incredibly good version of this classic song. I haven't heard that Riverside tune yet I'm thrilled it's pushed the awful Gaga out of the spotlight. And speaking of awful music... Iyaz in the Top 5? Damn!
  11. Anyone but the awful Gaga! Hence, I hope X Factor finalist(s) get(s) it.

Untouchable with The Day I Died being not too far behind. Battlefield is on the other hand one of the most overrated songs of this year. It shouldn't have even gone Top 20!

No big difference for me  the same crap level :arrr:

Don't ask me, I hate Polish music as well. And I don't listen to cheesy teen-pop.

Hopefully low Top 20. Britney Spears and her music are so damn tacky that only tasteless Americans can allow her to rull the charts. -_-

What? The Benny Benassi remix is what killed this song. OK, it's far from a masterpiece but the official single version is really cool and catchy. I think it has a shot at number one with a bit of luck (but not for longer than one week though).
  17. #10 with a bit of luck, if not #11-#15 territory but should fall quite quickly

Wow, I didn't even expect such a huge supremacy by Calvin Harris! Finally this horrible Gaga will fall off the top, with the popularity bars I'm almost sure about that :cheer:

Hopefully totally new artists will dominate 2009 (preferrably from the UK rock/indie alternative scene) and American overrated c**p such as Lady Gaga, Black Eyed Peas, Eminem etc. will flop badly. I also hope urban music finally fails to generate a bigger public interest in the UK this new year.

Who's buying these c**p tunes from the American pitiful starlets such as Britney Spears, T.I. or Akon? :puke2: + the year's most overrated acts - Rihanna, Katy Perry and Beyoncé  Take That's song is also probably their weakest #1 ever... What happened to British public's taste??? ^_^

A joke? That was the most spectacular time for singles chart in history! FINALLY there was something going on there as opposed to the boredom that this chart is facing right now... -_- As much as I appreciate Coldplay's input to music and sales, I wish someone beat them next week to the top to continue the fabulous streak of ever changing number ones even though I know how impossible is that :(
  22. Of course it won't! Nevertheless no matter how much they sell, it will still be highlighted as some kind of record simply because it's unusual to release albums on Thursday and we all know it will be selling fast.
  23. I think the reason lies in the declining music market. The obvious thing is that they aren't able to sell as much as they did with "X&Y" so let's say the final first week result would be less than 250,000. It makes for a perfect start however the media would not pay attention to how huge this figure is in 2008 but they would focus on comparisons with X&Y's almost double figures instead. The publicity generated out of it would suggest that Coldplay have lost their steam and are set to flop shortly after the big debut. It's very difficult to follow successfully such a record-breaking album. Now they will avoid comparisons and their sales will possibly set a record for a 3-day period as there is not much competition in this matter (of course apart from Oasis' legendary "Be Here Now" debut from 1997).

How can you call Britney's songs the best number ones in 2004? Her music is so awful that I even prefer McFly's similar one to another songs. In fact their first two number ones (5 Colours In Her Hair and Obviously exactly in 2004) were absolutely brilliant but after that they started copying themselves to the annoingly high extent adding this artificially propelled promotional campaign and manufactured pop appeal which is why they ended up being considered as c**p. Their start was strong though and much more interesting than $h!tney's dreadful and bland ballad namely Everytime. My worst year as far as number ones are concerned is 2007 I suppose because of the Timbaland c**p and tiring Rihanna's run at the top.
  25. Taio Cruz definitely
