How do you find the charts
NOT AT ALL!! In fact, that was the magic of the UK chart, something that distinguished it from all the other countries. I fell in love with it back then and still I feel the strong sentiment for the British market in spite of it losing its brand and originality. Right now the chart is much more predictable than ever. Songs hang around for ages, even following midweeks gets boring because 90% of the chart shape is totally expected thanks to i-Tunes charts. 10 years ago the market used to be dynamic and seemed like a battle field for record companies that promoted their stuff with every possible tool (double sided singles, discounts, different formats etc.). A huge number of records released and hyped every week was given to have a variety of styles and artists to choose from. Anyone could be picked up by the consumers and suddenly be discovered (even thanks to 0,99 pounds single's price which drove the song to upper reaches of the chart and then subsequently people were discovering and liking it). Right now the stabilisation and boredom has gotten hold of the market. Nobody cares about promoting new artists, chart battles have lost their excitement factor and the chart is almost as slow as the biggest c**p on the planet namely Billboard Hot 100. Tracks stand plenty of chances of getting to #1. Let's take the example of "4 Minutes" - the top after 5 weeks??? That's ridiculous! 10 years ago "Frozen" had its unique chance and either it succeds or it's lost as there are loads of other good contestants. That's why the battles were so impressive. There were bets on who wins, marketing strategies had to be implemented to help the singles, it was all about the UK chart back then! Other countries tried to follow the British example of releasing singles in their momentum to obtain a high debut. Now the debut doesn't matter a thing which is sad. All the magic has disappeared. The actual chart is most definitely boring and hardly interesting anymore.

Predict: Madonna f/ Justin & Timbaland - 4 Minutes
As a Madonna fan I always want her songs to topple all the competition however this time is different. "4 Minutes" is absolutely trashy, I'm ashamed my idol is releasing such a lame, recycled song :( It should flop to give Madonna a lesson that it's not the right direction to go musically! Nevertheless it will probably peak at #2... btw. I also dislike Estelle's current hit, Duffy should still rule the chart!

Music Purchases This Week: Week Beginning 25/6/07
the majority of people in this thread admitted they had bought Kate Nash's single in 3 formats. She can hardly be called a famous artist so what's the purpose of this support? cause it's certainly not about collecting the artist's stuff  Isn't it wasting money spent 3 times on the same product? Come on, I'm not gonna believe that people listen constantly to all the bought versions

Music Purchases This Week: Week Beginning 25/6/07
Yesterday I bought: - The Thrills - "Let's Bottle Bohemia" - Goldfrapp - "Supernature" - Robbie Williams - "Intensive Care" 3 old albums but they were very cheap  btw. Why do people bother buying 3 versions of the same single?  What's so special about the 7'' format? Isn't it a bit oldfashioned? And... who is this Kate Nash? :D

German Singles Chart - February 2
haha I've been waiting impatiently during the whole week to see this  It was worth it :D I knew they would miss the Top 10 but never would have predicted such a dramatic fall  btw. interesting to note that dance music is slowly starting to regain ground in Germany with the Top 5 of Eric Prydz & Cascada, the debut of the horrible Scooter/Fatman Scoop duet as well as Basshunter's belated bow at #23 with "Boten Anna" ^_^

What was Madonna's defining moment in her career??
I love the AL album!! It's a shame it did sold so little :( The defining moments of Mad's career are definitely the "Like A Virgin" and "Like A Prayer" singles plus the whole of 1985 :)
