The album went up to 13 so the single did what it was meant to do, but #39 is still very poor. All they needed to do was stick a new song on the EP (or release a better song and stick a new song on its EP) but no chance of Syco doing anything that involves complex thought.

That's it in a nutshell. Harry, Zayn and Liam could sing a line each and a casual listener could think it was one person singing with different vocal inflections. Then you have Louis bringing the listener back to the reality of the song in question being a bog-standard boyband offering. He ruined Story of my Life, Through the dark, and completely ruined the end of Something great. There are many others, but these 3 are the ones that come to mind right now. He sounds like he's whispering in his Through the dark solo. If he's really a good songwriter he needs to focus on that and leave the solos to the others. Even Niall sounds miles better than him on MM, and Niall is another one who needs to stay away from solos. Although I thought his voice worked for the folkier songs on MM.

Too much Louis in this video. Could've done without his dire acting skills.

Their X factor performances were mostly terrible. The only one I liked was "Kids in America". Rebecca was my favourite that year by a country mile.

I'd go for You and I or even Diana over Midnight Memories. Still, it's better than some of the others like Right Now and Little White Lies, so it could be worse.

It's a gorgeous song. 1D's record label are useless when it comes to singles - release 3 and that's it. They're too obsessed with chart positions. If they had a sensible strategy You and I would be the 4th single. It's my favourite song from MM.

I'm shocked at this section! OWOA is one of the better tracks from the TMH era, in my opinion. Something Great is almost ruined by Louis screeching at the end but otherwise is a really good song and as the Louis bit is riiiight at the end it can easily be skipped. Alive is the best bonus track on MM and ought to have been on the main album..

It's a load of rubbish. They've been talking about this break for months as they started promoting MM straight after the TMH tour which is sheer madness, and their "reward" for doing this was a longer-than-usual break. They have said in interviews that they asked for a 4 month break and their management agreed to just under 3 months. Their tour starts at the end of april, so they will get back together mid-march to begin tour rehearsals. I reckon around 99% of the stuff the media write about 1D is made up.
