BRIT AWARDS Collaboration!
This is the crappiest collaboration in the history of collaborations. Whose idea was it??

Alesha ∙ The Alesha Show: The Encore ∙
She would need to sell a lot of physicals to get to number 1, but both Gaga and Lily's single sales are declining so nothing is impossible  My prediction is number 3 or at a push number 2, and the album to break the top 10 :D

I hope it climbs to 4 before saturday :w00t:

Alesha ∙ The Alesha Show: The Encore ∙
If the year end for 2008 was 93,000 my guess is that it has sold in the region of 110,000 as it sold around 9,000 last week, 122% up on the week before (over 4,500) and before then it sold I think just over 3,000.

Should the majors be judging artists on their sales figures?
lol no-one ever admits to being dropped by a label  dumped by a lover :arrr: sacked by an employer B)

I think Breathe slow will climb to 4 in tomorrow's midweeks.

Should the majors be judging artists on their sales figures?
Songwriters aren't paid upfront, they are paid royalties from sales and performance so it doesn't make any difference whether an act writes their own songs or not.

Should the majors be judging artists on their sales figures?
It all comes down to simple profit and loss calculations. A band or act that costs nothing (like Tupac after he died) can stay on a label for years and make a profit for them even though the band in question only sells 200,000 units per campaign. The absence of an expensive video and promotion costs means their overlay is recouped. On the other hand Hearsay, as someone mentioned above, would have had loads of money spent on promoting their 2nd album, only for it to be a relative flop, despite selling 200,000.

Cheers. Massive figures for Carrie

Alesha Dixon > Breathe Slow
I'm with you there, I don't want her to flop and the youtube comments are positive so looking good!

Alesha Dixon > Breathe Slow
I really want another top 10 hit for her just because, but more importantly I want the song to sell the album and the more prominent it is in the charts the more likely this will happen! I would be surprised if it "flops" as it seems to be well received all round.

Jordin Sparks 5 new clips! INCLUDING ... The Cure, DLITGTYH
Do you know how many copies the album sold in America, and how it compares with the other Idols winners? A Timbaland collab sounds promising, if he can do somethng like what he did with Aaliyah it could be the best abum ever. Jordin's by far my favorite idol winner :cheer:

Alesha Dixon > Breathe Slow
I don't follow his career closely but I can remember him cropping up here and there, TV, radio and print media. He also got massive airplay particularly from capital fm. He may even have topped the airplay chart or been in the top 2. It wasn't for want of promotion and I'm still baffled as it was his first decent song since leave right now. Requesting songs on radio stations went out in the mid noughties, it's all about the playlist now and no amount of requesting makes a difference. That big scandal of last year uncovered that, even though Dermot still asks people to text in questions for his PRERECORDED show

Alesha Dixon > Breathe Slow
I hope it doesn't go the way Will Young's Grace went. It entered the chart after he performed it on x factor and everyone thought it was going to be a huge hit. This was its chart run in the end. 35-47-61-63-33

Alesha Dixon > Breathe Slow
I like it more and more with every listen, but I prefer others on the album.
-
Alesha Dixon > Breathe Slow
I'm not bothered about it being on radio 1 or 2, but radio 2 contributes a lot to the overall airplay chart, therefore the higher it is the better. But there's still time!
-
Alesha Dixon > Breathe Slow
I am disappointed it didn't get onto the radio 2 playlist. I hope that's not a bad sign as TBDN was on radio 2 before radio 1 playlisted it.

Why has Coolio charted and why is he climbing? Does he sing the song on CBB?

Alesha Dixon > Breathe Slow
The song entering the charts this early is great advertising, as it means prominence on itunes and it's likely to be played on the chart shows. It also means DJs know it's popular so may be more inclined to support it. Once airplay kicks in it could even get into the top 10 before the physical release. I'm not that bothered about its eventual chart position although the higher the better. If this helps sell the album then it's done its job!
