Hello Munchkin. I will wait and see the Now 72 tracklisting, but I may download it on comic relief night as 20p or so from all downloads that night go to comic relief I hear the music from Grace all the time on one TV advert but I'm never quick enough to find out what is being advertised, can any of you Will Young fans help? What are your favourite songs from the other albums?

This is the first Will Young album I haven't bought :blink: Didn't care for changes, let it go is bland IMO but I like Grace and may download it or wait for it to turn up on a compilation album.

I think it's released 9th of march in france.

Crikey is she still going? With the Simon Fuller stamp she'll struggle to make a real mark in today's market. Which is a shame as I liked "Just a little girl". I thought she was going to be as big as Avril Lavigne!

She would need to sell a lot of physicals to get to number 1, but both Gaga and Lily's single sales are declining so nothing is impossible :blink: My prediction is number 3 or at a push number 2, and the album to break the top 10 :D

Day n night has been the top selling physical single with HMV until this week when Lily Allen took over and pushed it down to number 2.

If the year end for 2008 was 93,000 my guess is that it has sold in the region of 110,000 as it sold around 9,000 last week, 122% up on the week before (over 4,500) and before then it sold I think just over 3,000.

Songwriters aren't paid upfront, they are paid royalties from sales and performance so it doesn't make any difference whether an act writes their own songs or not.

It all comes down to simple profit and loss calculations. A band or act that costs nothing (like Tupac after he died) can stay on a label for years and make a profit for them even though the band in question only sells 200,000 units per campaign. The absence of an expensive video and promotion costs means their overlay is recouped. On the other hand Hearsay, as someone mentioned above, would have had loads of money spent on promoting their 2nd album, only for it to be a relative flop, despite selling 200,000.
