Oh bollocks :( I feel Glorious will not benefit from drunken voting like some songs may.

OK but he was asking what would give him away to somebody who didn't know he had only been in 3 contests, so those don't really apply.

Bloody hell this closes in a matter of hours?! I thought it was Saturday! Good job I managed to get them in a good deal earlier than usual. I don't think too much of most of the songs in here this time around to be honest. There are only about 3-4 songs I'd listen to outside of the contest, and one of them I'd already heard.

Eurovision 2011 · Predictions
I think the impact of vocals on the result really depends on how reliant the song is on good vocals. For example, taking into account the singers that we know aren't really up to scratch, I don't think Jedward or Eric Saade will suffer too much because of their vocals, as they aren't the song's unique selling point (when I mentioned vocals suffering, I meant the overall vocal sound, not just Eric's). Whereas with Dana International and Kati Wolf, the vocals are alot more prominant in their songs, and they're bigger sings in general with bigger melodies than Lipstick or Popular, so in their case, I think a poor vocal performance could be alot more damaging.

I just don't think Portugal's song is as universal as Lithuania's...I really can't see it reaching nearly as big an audience as Lithuania's did, especially as it isn't even in English. As for Eric I do agree...if they want to make Popular as much of an event performance as it was in Melodifestivalen then either the vocals will suffer, or the choreography will suffer.

Eurovision 2011 · Predictions
To be fair, I do agree with alot of that, it's just a very Keith Mills set of predictions  I agree with Iceland qualifying, and probably Ireland, but definitely not Portugal. I just don't think it will travel. As for Albania and Ukraine, they're borderline, but I can see Albania just missing and Ukraine just making it. In fact I don't think there's any way Ukraine will miss out, it is Ukraine. As for Sweden I think you and Tyron are both being very stubborn :P I can realistically see Popular finishing top 5, but also bottom 5.

United Kingdom 2011
I can't see the song doing too well chartwise. It's had little-to-no airplay and that's not going to change, and alot of casual viewers have had a very negative reaction to it just because of what it is. It will do a little bit better than It's My Time because it will get sales from the hardcore Blue fans as well as the hardcore Eurovision fans, but I don't think it even matters that it's more contemporary than Jade's song - it's all the same as far as the average Joe is concerned, and I'm predicting it'll scrape the top 20. Obviously if we win it should do better the week following the contest, but of course that's a big if!

Hmmm...well to the degree of them majorly flopping yes, except for 2009. 2006 - Belgium 2007 - Switzerland 2008 - Sweden 2010 - Croatia

Change in the voting procedure to be announced...
I don't know if you've tried the voting simulator yet, but if not give it a try and you'll see that the fixed voting order doesn't necessarily work like that. It simply makes sure that the top few countries are as close together as possible for as long as possible.

Change in the voting procedure to be announced...
I really really hope it isn't the second option. I'd much rather have only the 8,10 and 12 from each country read out than have the full results for some, and then have 18 countries bundled into one and rushed through in 5 minutes!

Eurovision Simulator 2011
I agree with Nick Tyron. One thing I was worried about was them simply saving all of the high points for the winner until the end, which would be very contrived, but if they are simply generating the voting order so that the 2-3 leaders are as close as possible to each other for as long as possible then I'm all for it. The simulator seems to have been able to do it fairly effectively, so I'm sure the EBU will have been able to find a way. The only potential issue is the satellite link-ups, but if they've got that sorted out then good for them.

Green Room [2011]
Well that's fair enough, except I'm not saying that just because he's not giving his BEST works to Eurovision that means he's treating it with disdain! It's just that the money and exposure of a Eurovision song, with few exceptions, isn't really comparable to that of a song for a huge star - even an album track. And just because he's Swedish doesn't mean he's a megafan!! Robyn and September have gone on record to say that they have no time for Eurovision or Melodifestivalen, and it's clear that Agnes did not want to be there in 2009.

Green Room [2011]
You just can't face that your beloved RedOne has delivered a big fat DUD  Of course it's not ALL Red One because it's co-written with a number of other writers, just like Dance Alone, Poison and On The Floor but like it or not is as much of a Red One track as they are. In fact the fact that we've seen him working on it in the studio is probably more reason to believe that he's worked closely on it and not just ticked a box on a form. He's not a session vocalist...he's hardly likely to come in just to sing a few "Oh Oh"s. Come on it's surely not THAT much of a shock that world famous producer and Lady Gaga collaborator RedOne is not going to put forward an international smash hit for the Eurovision Song Contest

The Eurovision Review
I'm so glad we're reviewing Switzerland today! I've always thought it was quite nice, but today, on a lovely sunny afternoon, I'm really seeing its appeal. Lovely little summery song, and it actually really stands out in its position in the running order. There is no way it's up with the favourites and it never will be, but I think they've got a very good chance of FINALLY qualifying with this. 7/10

I really hated Greece's song last year at first, but it just all made sense on stage, and I ended up loving it! It certainly got the crowd in the arena going.

Your favourites out of the favourites?
I was a bit naughty and clicked 6 out of the 11 as my favourites  Azerbaijan, Bosnia-Herz, Denmark, Hungary, Sweden and United Kingdom, as they probably are my six favourites along with Iceland. As for who will do best, it was a toss-up between Denmark and the UK, but I eventually went for Denmark.

Eurovision 2011 · Predictions
The thing is though, they're not entering as a "joke" entry. I think it could scrape through, since unlike Hungary and Israel, poor vocals probably won't affect the song too much. It's certainly not my cup of tea, regardless of who is singing it, and Jedward going through would be a travesty, but I wouldn't discount it because of the novelty thing.
