  1. Oh goody!! Another one of my favourites. It's the most accessible rock entry this year, and rock always does well at Eurovision if it manages to have a widespread appeal. OK this is pop-rock, but it's still just on the edge of the genre nonetheless. It's anthemic, it has a great hook, and it builds. This is sailing through to the final and I really think this will be in contention for the win, even though most fan polls and the bookies only have it around low top ten. It just has that same kind of instant appeal that they managed with In A Moment Like This last year. 10/10 from me.

The only reason Morocco entered that one time was because Israel pulled out though isn't it? I'm not up on my international politics but I'm pretty sure the Morocco case is similar to the Lebanon one, and possibly Egypt as well? It would be interesting to see what would happen if Israel did pull out, I'd say we could have 3-4 new arab countries wanting to join.
  3. Well that worked  Did you see the ESC Today interview with them at the Danish national final? When asked if it felt good to be back he said "Yes, but to be honest I'd rather be at home watching a movie." He needs shot.
  4. Not particularly, besides we did get the full results somewhere, I definitely saw them at the time. Our televoters gave 12 points to Niamh Kavanagh and our juries gave her nothing.
  5. Oh come on she was way too pretty for him, he looks like a wife beater! At least in the national final she was...if you compare that to the finals, being around him for months on end had clearly aged her by about ten years! Poor Chanée :(
  6. Also is it just me or does every male / female duet in Eurovision need to have one of two running themes? One being "you're way too good for him love." Or the second being "you're barking up the wrong tree love." Azerbaijan has the added bonus of having both of these!
  7. I really like this. Very pleasant to listen to, well produced and a strong melody. The only criticism I'd have of it is that it doesn't really go anywhere. It would be good to have a few harmonies or oversings in the final chorus, especially since there's no key change to lift it. Hard to call how this one is going to do. I'd not be surprised if Azerbaijan continued their run of top tens, but I don't think it'll be challenging for the win like their last two entries. 8/10

Right now yes it is, it's alot closer to the early version of Je Ne Sais Quoi. Hopefully the revamp will have it sounding like This Is Our Night, and if it does, hopefully it will get a similar placing.

It's a valid question!! It's not as if I said my GOD what a BIZARRE set of dates!! Which is certainly what I was thinking...

Why is confirmation going on for a day longer under the second scenario? It doesn't make any sense... What if, for example, by the Tuesday we have 35 confirmed countries? Do we go on to do one big final since there aren't enough for semis, or keep it open until Wednesday when the number may or may not turn out to be enough for semis?
  12. Well look I just think it's quite an unfair score...you've said yourself that the song is not that bad, clearly not a 3/10 in itself. It's not even like you're marking it down because of the style...it's got such a poor score because of what you percieve the motivation behind the song to be, which is just paranoia!
  13. Actually come to think of it, Patricia Kaas was about as "French" an entry and as "non-Eurovision" an entry as you can get, and she did alright. OK she completely flopped with the televoters but the juries loved her. OK this may not get the same result, but nobody thought that France were sending Patricia Kaas in order to "deliberately flop" and take a position on a high horse, and if they had sent Madness of Love nobody would be thinking that either. It's just because Italy has been away for 14 years and has got a reputation as the "snooty" competitors of Eurovision.
  14. Wow you're being more cynical than the Italians... I for one am glad, even if it flops, that they're sending the most Italian thing possible. We've waited 14 years for Italy to come back, I certainly don't want just another Satellite, or Shady Lady, or My Number One, or This Is Our Night etc etc
  15. Anyways, shockingly I'm going to disagree with Tyron and say that I really like this both as a song in its own right and as a Eurovision song. It's different to everything else in the competition, it's sophisticated, it builds throughout, and it's like a more authentic version of Germany's 2007 entry, which would have done very well had juries been involved at the time. I know it has been met with, to say the least, lukewarm reception from the fans, maybe because it isn't full of synths and vocoded "oh oh oh"s but I think this will stand out, and it's always nice to hear Italian at the contest. 9/10
  16. Oh darn I was too late for Lithuania!! I don't actually mind it :(
  17. Well I suppose this gives me time to review the Spanish song. When I first heard this I thought it was godawful, mainly because the girl singing it is not only completely mismatched to the song, but her voice is just terrible. Like fingernails down a blackboard. Now that the song has been polished up a bit it is actually quite charming, in the same way Portugal's 2009 entry was. So it is growing on me, and I'll give it a 6/10, but I will never get used to her voice.
  18. EL. OH. EL.
  19. They did actually. Lena was first with juries and televoting. Belgium came 2nd with the juries. Not so much of an expert are we...

Oh $h!tting hell. Nicole Scherzinger heading for another #3 smash then...
  21. No way in hell is Azerbaijan going to win. I really do not see why it screams "winner" in the slightest.
  22. I love the Bosnian song this year. It's certainly one of my favourites, if not my favourite. Even though the staging is a bit crazy, the music has a special something; it's so infectious. And this is a song that feels "complete" if you get me. It doesn't feel like it's been padded out to reach 3 minutes, or cut down, and it goes somewhere. It has a beginning, a middle and an end. I love it and hopefully it won't have any trouble qualifying. 10/10
  23. This really is nothing compared to the brilliant rock entries they had in 2008 and 2010. It just feels a little bit limp, without any real hook. I listened to it 5 minutes ago and I've already forgotten it. I'd criticise the production but obviously a revamp isn't out of the question, which may or may not push it up from a 4/10
  24. Well I suppose I should be delighted as it is joint as my second best result of all time, and it's the first time I've ever had two consecutive top ten finishes, but I was hoping for a little higher than 6th for September (and a little higher than ZERO from Rich :o ). I suppose it's just hard watching your song getting off to a flying start and then completely lose steam midway through the voting as always always always seems to happen to me :( Still, that being said, I did have a feeling that it was all going to go a bit Chanée and N'Evergreen when I got the first two 12s :P Congrats to Rich, a great host as ever, which is kind of the reason you got the token one point from Herzebania as the song is kind of a 6/10 for me, but fair is fair, well done on your victory :D
  25. Herzebania's song isn't down as far as I can tell  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W5uKwGTG3J8
