Good lord I just realised that my 17th place with Ingrid Michaelson is in fact my 6th best result...and also I've finished between 17th and 20th five times. Sigh.

I was just mulling this over today, and was wondering where everyone would consider themselves in the scheme of things and what everyone would consider their "role" to be in the BJSC? For example, how enthusiastic are you about it? Are you more or less into it than you used to be? Is it a major source of new music, competition and banter for you or do you just pass through and enter because you might as well? Do you think you personally have a particular role in the competition whether it be musically or some other more general thing that you think you bring to the forum? What do you think you are / would like to be known for on here, if anything? I know some people don't like blowing their own trumpets, and it's honestly not about that, I just thought it was quite interesting to see where people would personally see themselves in the context of the contest. Personally, whilst I've never been (nor will I ever be) an Ashton/Rontvia/Kopecka, ie in the very centre of things, I think there was a period where I think I would have been in the "B-list" of BJSC participants; not amongst the very core members but in the circle just outside of it, even though I'm certainly not talking in terms of results! I do think I gradually drifted apart from the contest after I hosted, especially since I never did odds or anything like that, and I eventually just stopped having fun and realised *shocker* real life was much better! Still, I've started to get back into it again, and I hope the contest does get back on track even though it probably won't ever be the hive of activity it used to be.

OK well the songs that I've entered that I'd place among my Top 300 or so would be: Helena Paparizou - Teardrops Gigi D'Alessio - Non Mollare Mai Tori Amos - Silent All These Years Agnes - Release Me Also, Rainbow Connection and Grown up Christmas list, but not the versions I sent.

How the hell can you have songs that you like alot that aren't in your top 1000?! :lol: I'm not sure I even know a thousand songs!!!

We're two contests behind really. Because 11/21 were happening while nominations for TBO were going on. And I'd be fairly keen on having XXX this month, as it'd allow us to have TBO in December / January, and then since you're proposing only having 8 contests a year from then on, it means TBO is at the perfect time to have "Best of 2011, Best of 2012" etc. instead of every ten contests.

Please please don't. I really think that'd be a terrible idea, given the long wait before this contest. I think the contest needs a couple more regular contests, relatively soon for it to find its feet again. I appreciate that you're intending to make TBO more inclusive, but I think if it came now then things would just grind to a halt more than they have done. Things on the forum are picking up slightly thanks to the results, therefore I think we need to be hit with another contest SOON in order to develop that. Even if the contests aren't going to be as regular from now on I really think that XXX needs to come quickly after XXIX in order to build up the momentum again.

I'd reiterate a point I made in another thread though, that I think a list of the entries that were eventually banned really needs to be posted for transparancy's sake.

I would be in favour of getting rid of the anonymity but keeping the confirmation process as it was this time around, since it was so much more efficient. That said I don't really understand why first come first served can't just be done out in the open. Nevertheless it's pretty much what others have suggested. Also, whilst I'd be in favour of anonymity during confirmation until the final, I dot think individual entrants should be peanalised for discussing what they've sent / are thinking of sending before this point should they choose to. Obviously nothing would be "official" until the host posts the final list but it could be up to the individual whether or not they want to disclose anything before then.

It will would be a brilliant top 2 when if Ashton's points elevate Broken Machine into 2nd place. They're my 1st and 3rd favourites in the contest, and I never realistically expected my 15 pointer Alana Grace to make too much of a dent on the scoreboard :(

I'll be giving the song a spin on my show tomorrow as promised (although I was going to play it even if it hadn't won :lol: )
