  1. I think if they update the song, it needs to be by Monday. The version submitted to the EBU then needs to be the final version.
  2. Heyhey! Finally back and able to post! It was awesome :D Just putting a few things right and responding to a couple of observations first. It's very unfortunate that it didn't come across well on television, but Andreas went down very well with the audience :( And yes everyone had a bag waiting for them on their seat upon arrival containing a programme, a Norwegian flag, a balloon and three glowsticks (a purple one for Darin, a white one for Andreas and an insanely bright yellow one for Anna). They all had little number stickers on them to correspond to the song number, and during the VTs for the artists, a message flashed up on the screen telling us to light the glowsticks. I think Darin's one was a bit pointless though because as far as I could see there weren't that many audience shots during his performance. I watched Casablanca's performance back and as much as I loved seeing Malena mime sing live, I get the feeling her appearance had more impact on screen, as the audience could see her taking about a minute walking on stage in that dress  I was shocked to see Peter Joback so low down as live, it was amazing. In the dress rehearsal when we were right up at the stage it gave me goosebumps, but it obviously wasn't to people's tastes. Some other little snippets are that we met Timoteij, Mans (much to my other half's delight), Eric and (very briefly) Christine. In fact we saw Timoteij a good few times and I think they remembered us because we always exchanged little smiles waves and hellos. They were always together which was sweet, and it was heartbreaking seeing them crying and comforting each other on Saturday night when the cameras went off. Speaking of which, we had quite a good view of the green room on Saturday and it was hilarious watching Pernilla. Every time the cameras were on her she was all light-hearted and smiles and having a laugh with the other singers, but then that just dropped when the cameras were off! Also she had a stylist who came and fixed her hair every time the cameras went off! That's all I can remember right now, except for Paradise being the best club I've ever been to! 90% of the music on Friday was schlager / ESC / Melfest. They played Kom twice, Jenny Silver did a live set for which we were right up at the stage, and singing (shouting) along to Be My Valentine has to be one of the highlights of the weekend! Oh the nights I've wished that came on in a club! The following night they were having a big afterparty with performances from Neo, Nanne and Linda Pritchard but we'd already seen her in the Globen shopping mall and it cost about £16 quid in so we gave it a miss. Anti-Crisis Bom!
  3. As you can see from the pics, Dolph is back in the presenting team for the final, and there is an opening message from one of his friends!
  4. Hey all! Just back from the dress rehearsal! Grant got some really great photos! Here are my thoughts... Darin's vocals were excellent, and the stage performance has an extra element added. It still doesn't scream winner to me, but Grant really likes it and it went down well in the hall. Pernilla is much the same, got no response in the hall, and this afternoon as it was something of a "bare bones" rehearsal, she had no glitter (Eric had no water and there were no glowsticks for Andreas either). Andreas comes across quite well in the arena but I'm resigned to the fact that he'll probably come last. Timoteij have grown alot in my estimations over the weeks, but I wasn't that impressed with their performance. The vocals were better than the heats, but in the line-up it really doesn't stand out. People can clutch at straws all they like, and this may do well at Eurovision, but it's not going to win tonight. Neither is Peter Joback, but the performance was amazing. I got shivers sitting so close to it, the lighting was perfect, as were his vocals, and the backing singers add alot to it. If it were closing the show it would be a real contender. Ola has great stage presence, and the performance is better than in the heats, with him coming out to the audience during the song. Still, after Hollow it does seem very ordinary, and will probably be bottom three. Although it got quite a good response thanks to the pre-teen nature of a large portion of the audience. Jessica Andersson has got a new dress. Vocally this just gets better and better, and it will do very well for a second chance song. Salem was very solid as ever, and his performance had much more of a "live gig" feel than the rest of them, with him singing to the audience in the arena alot more. However, halfway through the song he stands up, and somebody else takes over at the piano. It's hard to explain but it is very funny, and it takes the p*** out of the whole "fake" instrument playing. That said, I couldn't help feeling it cheapened the song a bit. We didn't get a photo because we were staring in amazement! Anna put in a lovely performance, and as much as I still can't really see the fuss about it, it did look like a winner today, and I really can't see it being challenged. Eric's performance was polished and much the same as the semi. Although he did look a bit of a twat without the water! The interval act is very good, and Eurovision fans will love it. The opening act is also quite exciting. I'll do a post some other time (probably when I get home) about Stockholm in general, as it's been great so far but for now here are some of our pics! Darin http://i427.photobucket.com/albums/pp357/Peter30/PICT0728.jpg Pernilla http://i427.photobucket.com/albums/pp357/Peter30/PICT0731.jpg Andreas http://i427.photobucket.com/albums/pp357/Peter30/PICT0734.jpg Timoteij http://i427.photobucket.com/albums/pp357/Peter30/PICT0735.jpg Peter Joback http://i427.photobucket.com/albums/pp357/Peter30/PICT0738.jpg Ola http://i427.photobucket.com/albums/pp357/Peter30/PICT0740.jpg Jessica Andersson http://i427.photobucket.com/albums/pp357/Peter30/PICT0744.jpg Anna Bergendahl http://i427.photobucket.com/albums/pp357/Peter30/PICT0747.jpg Eric Saade http://i427.photobucket.com/albums/pp357/Peter30/PICT0749.jpg Finally, I don't know how much is known of the opening and interval acts so I won't say too much for those who don't want it ruined. We do have photographs of them, and for now, here is a glimpse of the show opening....what could the song be! http://i427.photobucket.com/albums/pp357/Peter30/PICT0726.jpg
  5. Having a great time in Stockholm! Just about to head out to see Linda Pritchard doing a PA, so I don't really have alot of time. Just had to post this picture :w00t: http://i427.photobucket.com/albums/pp357/Peter30/PICT0703.jpg There are more where that came from :D I'll give some predictions later on after seeing this afternoon's dress rehearsal. I'll try and get some good pics if I can :)
  6. Rich! I just got your message. I'm so gutted for you! That's awful...I'm the same, I rarely get sick but it always seems to happen at the worst possible time. I'll make sure to keep you posted on all the goss (although if you think that would make you feel worse then just say and I'll keep schtum!) That's really a shame, Grant was looking forward to meeting you as well :( Hopefully something else great will come up before long!
  7. It's plummeted to #50

One of Lena's three potential songs has been written by Florence of the Machine!
  9. That's assuming that all of the countries yet to select from this semi send qualification-worthy songs. And still there's one spot left. Clutching at straws a little
  10. OK...distinguishable, yes maybe. Potential winner, not by a long shot. I'm sure there will be many like you who have it as one of their favourites, but others just won't get it. It doesn't have enough of a universal appeal, but hopefully it'll make the final.
  11. But that's the thing...there's nothing distinguishable at all (yet) in this year's contest.
  12. No way!! And there are thousands of people who didn't get any :(
  13. Woohoo!! Congrats :D
  14. Same here, I really think this is one of the frontrunners. It is looking like the only song that would be able to hold its own and be a serious competitor in other years at the moment
  15. Although I still couldn't hear the accordian and the violin player has mysteriously disappeared :P
  16. Well I've got a psychology report I should be writing, so I think I'll give this a shot for the first time! I'm going to judge this by an average year's standards, not by this year's standard. Excellent 1. Ireland: Niamh Kavanagh - It's For You (I love love love this, and I love love love Niamh) 2. Romania: Paula Seling feat Ovi - Playing With Fire (the only song that could possibly be in the final shake-up in another year) 3. Denmark: Chanée & N'evergreen - A Moment Like This (I really like this, but I don't expect Europe to) Very good 4. Norway: Didrik Solli-Tangen - My Heart Is Yours (I predict that this will bring the house down, then do an Anna Vissi) Good 5. Turkey: MaNga - We Could Be The Same (on any other year it would be a solid top ten contender, this year it's probably a potential winner) 6. Iceland: Hera Björk - Je Ne Sais Quoi (so generic, and I'm shocked this is so high on my list) 7. Albania: Juliana Pasha - It's All About You (see number 6) 8. Belgium: Tom Dice - Me And My Guitar (very cute but quite dull. I hope they at least get a qualification out of it) 9. Georgia: Sopho Nizharadze - Shine 10. Croatia: Feminnem - Lako Je Sve 11. Belarus: Two Plus Three - Far Away Just about average: 12. Switzerland: Michael von der Heide - Il Pleut de L'or (I don't think this one will grow on me any more after all this time) 13. Moldova: Sunstroke Project feat Olia Tira - Run Away 14. Malta: Thea Garrett - My dream 15. Cyprus: Jon Lilygreen & The Islanders - Life Looks Better In Spring 16. Bulgaria: Miro - Angel Si Ti (could be about ten positions higher if it had more lyrics) 17. Latvia: Aisha - What For? (could be about ten positions higher if it had no lyrics) 18. Ukraine: Vasyl Lazarovich - I Love You (might grow when I hear the studio version) Not feeling anything for (or actively dislike) these 19. Lithuania: Inculto - Eastern European Funk (thought I liked this when I first heard it...but I don't) 20. Spain: Daniel Diges - Algo Pequeñito (it'll do better than people expect but I'll never like it) 21. Netherlands: Sieneke - Ik Ben Verliefd (Sha-La-Lie) (just send the Smurfs and be done with it) 22. Slovakia: Kristína - Horehronie 23. FYR Macedonia: Gjoko Taneski feat. Billy Zver & Pejcin - Jas ja imam silata 24. Slovenia: Anzambel Roka Žlindere & Kalamari - Narodnozabavni Rock 25. Finland: Kuunkuiskaajat - Työlki Ellää (I would have preferred almost all of their national final songs to this but at least it bloody stands out) 26. Armenia: Eva Rivas - Apricot Stone 27. Poland: Marcin Mroziński - Legenda (to be fair I've not really given this much of a chance so it could rise) 28. Portugal: Filipa Azevedo - Há Dias Assim Possibly the worst Eurovision song of all time 29. Russia: Music group of Peter Nalitch - Lost And Forgotten (I was utterly lost for words when I heard this) Note the severe shortage of above-average uptempo songs. At the moment the only songs I can even picture being in the final shake-up are Romania and Turkey, and possibly Norway or Ireland.
  17. I didn't mean to imply that This Is My Life is dated, as it isn't, but the company that it would be in at the contest would not help it. There are already alot of ballads and alot of them are not that good.
  18. I think Salem could do very well. There's certainly potential for it to come across very well on screen. Anna could do reasonably well I guess but it would be another nail in the coffin of Eurovision 2010, and could push it into the territory of most boring contest EVER. I would be alot more supportive if there weren't already a load of boring, dated ballads.
  19. Salem Al Fakir, Timoteij and Eric Saade would definitely be their best bets, so I hope that Anna falls at the last hurdle, as if it it's not her than it surely must be one of those three.
  20. As much as I'd like to believe that it's one of those two, I really can't see it. If they get good draws (as in, away from each other) then I can see them both coming top ten, but I'm not sure about winning. However, it's pretty hard to believe that the chances are we've heard the winner, since we've heard the entries from 5 out of the 10 countries still to pick, so who knows what will happen. I'd like to think Romania is in with a shot too.

Well after listening to them I don't think I'd classify Ela'yich as a ballad. I like them all but the other 3 are all blending into one for me at the moment, so I'd say it's my favourite.

For the first 2-3 seconds of the Violina / Rolf Junior song I think I'm listening to I Need You Now by Agnes
  23. Ugh I don't want to rely too much on Pete Waterman because I could be disappointed. Still though we're running out of options. We know what Azerbaijan have to offer and there's nothing great there, I like Israel's songs but they're all ballads. Greece's songs are all okay but not up to their usual standard. Which leaves Germany, Serbia, Bosnia-Herz, France and Estonia (I've not heard their ones) to deliver the goods. I'm losing hope.
  24. For heavens sake, I like This Is My Life but it had better not win. I do not want to see it at Eurovision. We need uptempos, urgently.

I've just downloaded these and I'm about to listen to them. I really really hope they aren't being oversold on here because I really really can't take any more boring dated songs this year! Are they ballads?
