Decent entry but I am gutted for Lys Assia, especially after she put in an unexpectedly good vocal too. :( Turns out she wasn't anywhere close to taking the title, coming 8th out of 14.

I remember them having a Top 40 of the year on New Years Eve back in 2004 and I think it actually was correct up to December 30th, rather than just Christmas Day / whenever the last chart week had been, so I'd say it'll be more accurate than one would expect. Of course 2004 was the year that Scissor Sisters overtook Keane as the biggest selling album in the dying hours of the year, so the chart was still incorrect :lol:

I was going to correct you last week when you said Loreen had the opening spot, but it was Thursday by then and I thought "don't be silly Peter, he'll have realised by now." :P

The reason for that is that it's actually a performance from last night. She sang 3 songs but they only showed two on the broadcast, so they're showing the 3rd (TEOG) tonight instead. I believe it's already on the internet though.

The Italian TV channel chooses 2 songs, the French TV channel chooses 3 songs, the German radio station chooses 3 songs, and the German TV channel chooses 6 songs, which is the online voting. These 14 songs all compete in one national final. LYS ASSIA HAS QUALIFIED! The other 5 songs from the internet voting will be announced in the coming days.

Also, to be honest, I'm much more excited about hearing the 3 Thomas G:Son songs than Fredrik Kempe's two, as he's been delivering at a much higher rate in the last couple of years. Especially if the rumours are true and Loreen is singing "Euphoria."

It's looking more likely that Goosebumps will be performed by Hanna Lindblad rather than Linda Sundblad.

Hi everyone I don't want to make a big deal out of this, so I'll keep it short and sweet. Basically I've decided to step down as moderator as of the end of this contest. I'll also be taking a break from the contest as a participant. Thanks for all your support throughout my short time as mod, it's been great seeing the competition thrive again. Yep that sounds like a reasonable solution to me. :) Not that what I think matters :P

Martyn I really think you should decide BEFORE you look at / compile the votes so that the result doesn't influence you in some way. And "it's not going to get resolved now" is a bit of a strange thing to say as it could get resolved right now simply by you just making a decision. You don't need any more information in order to do this.

Just post in here. And Phil as for the "6 or 7" what I gather is 7 people voted after the deadline and a further 6 haven't at all.

I really think Martyn should make a decision before he reads all the latest votes though, so he doesn't know how the result would go and be subconciously swayed.
