Can you think of acts who were big during the course of a calendar year but as soon as a new year came along they lost the mementum and were dismissed as yesterday's news? The finest example of a one-year wonder to me is Duffy. She was big in 2008 (Mercy, Warwick Avenue, Stepping Stone, Rain On Your Parade, the Rockferry album sold well) but come 2009, the public was over her and a underwhelming comeback album didn't help. Other examples that occur to me are Fairground Attraction (1988), MN8 (1995), Mark Morrison and Gina G. (1996), Vengaboys (1999), Hear' Say (2001) and Kate Nash (2007).
