    321. "I'm yours" Jason Mraz (2 weeks) Reached #1: 3 August 2008 UK Chart Peak: #11 Some songs need some warming up. "I'm yours" entered my chart at #16 and spent the next seven weeks hopping up and down the charts hitting as high as #13 and as low as #33 until it shot from #18 to #1. The song spent 76 weeks at the US top 100, a record at the time. It topped the charts in France, Norway, New Zealand, Sweden and Israel. EkHTsc9PU2A

    320. "Into the nightlife" Cyndi Lauper (2 weeks) Reached #1: 20 July 2008 UK Chart Peak: #168 Yet another surprise #1 of 2008! Cyndi Lauper had only entered my chart before with "(Hey Now) Girls just wanna have fun" (#29 in 1995) but her 2008 "Bring ya to the brink" had so many great tracks and put her back on the map for me. I was hooked on "Into the nightlife" from the first listen and it shot to #1 in my chart. She followed it up with two top 30 hits "Set your heart" and "Echo". O5UCUusl9jo

It has since been used in various sporting events, like as the celebrational goal song in the 2012 UEFA Champions League final. 1kVxpsi1XQ4

    316. "Fascination" Alphabeat (7 weeks) Reached #1: 11 May 2008 UK Chart Peak: #6 In a year of surprise #1s in my chart, Danish band Alphabeat were responsable for the biggest surprise, as their debut single "Fascination" not only was the #1 song in my 2008 year-end chart, it equaled the record for most weeks at #1 set by Rihanna's "Unfaithful". The song was used in Coca-Cola TV adverts in Germany, Belgium and Turkey. t3RjCiq1ICY

    313. "Better in time / Footprints in the sand" Leona Lewis (2 weeks) Reached #1: 30 March 2008 UK Chart Peak: #2 The double A-side follow up to "Bleeding love" gave Leona her second #1 in my chart. This would be the last #1 double A-side single in my chart, since from 2009 onwards, every position in my chart can only be given to one single song. By suggesting the idea of a song based on popular allegorical poem "Footprints", Simon Cowell got a songwriting credit in "Footprints in the sand". dCsZNalcaXM

It was #1 in the UK, Ireland, Austria, Germany, Norway, Switzerland, Greece and Venezuela. "Mercy" was actually one of the last songs to be finished for the "Rockferry album". Co-writer Steve Booker also penned hits for John Newman, Jessie J. and Sugababes. bbmIqYKDu_g

    311. "That's how people grow up" Morrissey (2 weeks) Reached #1: 17 February 2008 UK Chart Peak: #14 2008 was a year of quite some surprising (even to me) Number Ones in my chart. I never would have thought Morrissey would get a #1 in my chart, until I fell in love with this track, an unreleased song promoting his 2008 Greatest Hits album. Morrissey had only three minor top 40 hits in my chart (the biggest being "You Have Killed Me" that hit #18), and only has troubled my chart again with follow-up single "All you need is me". p2hWIAKAGj0

    308. "Sometimes a little some time" Squeeze Theeze Pleeze (1 week) Reached #1: 20 January 2008 Portuguese rock band Squeeze Theeze Pleeze only had a minor hit in my chart before notching a surprise #1 with the ballad "Sometimes a little some time". One of the reasons for the popularity of the track was of the lead singer falling off the stage while lipsynching in a TV performance. E8SIOpTeUXk

    307. "Tattoo" Jordin Sparks (2 weeks) Reached #1: 6 January 2008 UK Chart Peak: #24 Jordin Sparks became the second American Idol winner to top my chart, as "Tattoo" took advantage of the new year's quietness to climb from #6 to #1. 306. "All I want for Christmas is you" Mariah Carey (2 weeks) Reached #1: 23 December 2007 UK Chart Peak: #2 "All I want for Christmas is you" was at #2 in my first ever personal chart in December 1994 and thirteen years later, it finally reached #1. The song has been a Christmas classic since its release in 1994 and has been entering the charts all over the world every Christmas in the digital era. The song has been convered by numerous acts like Shania Twain, Demi Lovato, Michael Bublé, Idina Menzel and John Mayer. Carey re-recorded it in 2011 with Justin Bieber. Mariah scored thus her fourth #1 in my chart, her first in almost nine years. The song also holds the record for the biggest drop ever from #1 in my chart as it plummeted to #28 after the holidays were over. MDp4uCWm9_s

    305. "Headlines (Friendship never ends)" Spice Girls (1 week) Reached #1: 25 November 2007 UK Chart Peak: #11 If I could turn back around, this would have never topped my chart and Leona would have an unbroken 7 week run at #1. But at the time I was caught up in the all hoopla about the Spice Girls reunion that the fact alone was enough to grant their tenth #1 in my chart. VMo6v_uFZKU

"Bleeding love" Leona Lewis (6 non-consecutive weeks) Reached #1: 28 October 2007, 2 December 2007 UK Chart Peak: #1 Originally recorded by Jesse McCartney but without ever making into his album, "Bleeding Love" went on to be massive global hit for Leona Lewis, topping the charts in the UK, the USA, Australia, Austria, Flemish Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Japan, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway and Switzerland, among 35 countries. Leona became the first X-Factor UK act to top my chart. Vzo-EL_62fQ

    303. "The light in our soul" Helena Paparizou (1 week) Reached #1: 21 October 2007 "The light in our soul" was one of the songs performed by Helena Paparizou on the quest to represent Greece in the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest, that she ended up winning with "You're my number one". The song was disqualified when demo version leaked on the internet. However I only came across it in 2007, in an online song contest forum similar to BJSC and liked it enough to send to the top of my chart. Paparizou has two more top 40 hits in my chart: her Eurovision entry "You're my number one" (#12 in 2005) and "Baby it's over" (#23 in 2012). qmYFd1G3uqo
