    183. "The tide is high (Get the feeling)" Atomic Kitten (2 weeks) Reached #1: 7 October 2002 UK Chart Peak: #1 Reworking Blondie's 1980 hit "The tide is high" (originally recorded by Jamaican group The Paragons in 1968) with a new bridge titled "Get the feeling", this track became Atomic Kitten's second #1 in my chart. It was also #1 in the UK, Ireland and New Zealand. u8CMsQ-p1ls

    182. "Just like a pill" P!nk (1 week) Reached #1: 30 September 2002 UK Chart Peak: #1 Easily one of the standout tracks of her celebrated "Missundazstood" album, "Just like a pill" became P!nk's first solo #1 in my chart, having previously done so with the Lady Marmalade record. Although it was only #1 in the UK, the track peaked at #2 in several countries like Austria, Germany, Ireland and New Zealand. JDKGWaCglRM

    181. "Asereje (The Ketchup Song)" Las Ketchup (5 weeks non consecutive weeks) Reached #1: 2 September 2002, 21 October 2002 UK Chart Peak: #1 One of the most famous novelty hit records ever, "Asereje" first started as a massive hit in Spain for the Muñoz sisters in Spring 2002 and as the summer went by its success spreaded like wildfire, notably becoming the song that topped the charts in most countries (26 in total). It's the sixth best-selling single of all-time in France. Such was the ongoing success of the track in my chart that after spending 4 weeks at #1, it claimed a fifth week three weeks later. Pretty much an one-hit-wonder in most charts, the follow-up single actually peaked at #10 in my chart. GafUU3CjoT4

    180. "Children" Twarres (4 weeks) Reached #1: 5 August 2002 One of the biggest one-hit wonders ever in my chart. Dutch duo Twarres was formed by Mirjam Timmer and Johan van der Veen who notably performed their songs in English and Frisian, a minority language in the Netherlands. "Children" topped my chart for 4 weeks and was #5 in my year-end list but Twarres never troubled my top 40 again. Johan van der Veen left the band in 2007, being replaced since 2009 by Joost Bloemendal. Mirjam Timmer has a solo career on the side under the name Mir. CU5Bc_I2RJM

    179. "A little less conversation " Elvis Presley vs. JXL (2 weeks) Reached #1: 22 July 2002 UK Chart Peak: #1 Originally recorded in 1968, "A little less conversation" was remixed by Dutch DJ-producer Tom Helkenborg a.k.a. Junkie XL (for this release, he went by as JXL) and turned the King into the first deceased artist to have a #1 hit in my chart, a whole 25 years after his death. It topped the charts in the UK, Australia, Canada, Denmark, Ireland, Hungary, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland. The remix was featured in both Nike's official TV ad for the 2002 World Cup (starring very well-known players) and a new Elvis compilation album with his UK and US #1 hits. lbKQf6tkvuc

    177. "From Sarah with love" Sarah Connor (2 weeks) Reached #1: 1 July 2002 German singer Sarah Connor had only one UK hit with 2001's "Let's get back to bed boy", but in Continental Europe she is more known for this powerballad. It was #1 in Germany, Switzerland, Portugal and Czech Republic. Sarah Connor would have four more top 40 hits in my chart, but she hasn't been on it since 2004. L9R2A3gNkpk

    176. "Without me" Eminem (2 weeks) Reached #1: 17 June 2002 UK Chart peak: #1 "Without me", the first single of "The Eminem Show" album, was his first #1 in my chart. It was a worldwide global smash, hitting #1 in the UK, Australia, Austria, Wallon Belgium, Denmark, Netherlands, Germany, Ireland, New Zealand, Norway, Romania, Sweden and Switzerland. YVkUvmDQ3HY

    175. "Love at first sight" Kylie Minogue (2 weeks) Reached #1: 3 June 2002 UK Chart peak: #2 Another case of famous acts topping my chart with not-so-obvious songs. Where as Kylie's massive comeback single "Can't get you of my head" stalled at #2 in my chart, it was "Love At First Sight" who eventually made to #1. In the US, instead of the original version (that reminded me a lot of "Music sounds better with you"), it was this Ruff & Jam remix that was promoted. ow3T6GLSGm0

    174. "Underneath your clothes" Shakira (3 weeks) Reached #1: 13 May 2002 UK Chart peak: #3 Shakira was the queen of my chart in 2002 with both "Whenever, Wherever" and this one being #1 and #2 in my year-end chart, the first time an artist did so (only Adele would repeat it in 2011). "Underneath your clothes" was also #1 in Australia, Austria, Hungary, Ireland, Netherlands and Flemish Belgium. The music video (one of the last directed by Herb Ritts) featured Shakira's former boyfriend Antonio de la Rua, son of a former president of Argentina. Due to his appearance in the video, Shakira's album sales were banned in Argentina, since Antonio's father was deemed highly responsable for Argentina's massive political and economic turmoil at the time. uwBwKcQ1k84

    172. "We are all made of stars" Moby (1 week) Reached #1: 29 April 2002 UK Chart peak: #11 Moby scored his first #1 with the first single of his album "18", the follow-up to the massive "Play". Among the celebrities starring in the video are Ron Jeremy, Tommy Lee, Thora Birch, Leelee Sobieski, J.C. Chasez and Verne Troyer. xAh6fk0KD1c

    172. "Escape" Enrique Igelsias (2 weeks) Reached #1: 15 April 2002 UK Chart peak: #3 "Escape" entered at #2 in my chart on the very same week that Anastacia's "One day in your life" entered at #1. It seemed this was as good as the song would get and was already going down the chart, placing at #14 in its fifth week until it suddenly went back to #1, which was by then the biggest climb ever to #1 in my chart. This was Iglesias's second #1 in my chart and went down in history mostly due to the fact that his later-to-be girlfriend Anna Kournikova stars in the video. 9mQJaXwGPlg

    171. "You" S Club 7 (1 week) Reached #1: 25 March 2002 UK Chart peak: #2 Funny how sometimes in my chart, some acts reach #1 with the most random of their singles. That was the case of S Club 7. "You" is not one of the most proeminent songs of their repertoir but it was the only one who did the trick. This was the last single before the departure of Paul Cattermole. 1mvOLDaetiI

    169. "Moi...Lolita" Alizée (1 week) Reached #1: 11 March 2002 UK Chart peak: #9 "Moi...Lolita" had already been #2 in my chart in December 2000 back when it was hitting big in France (although it only peaked at #2, it spent 24 weeks in the top 5 and is the 31st best selling single ever in France). Throughout the following two years, the song would eventually be a hit all over Europe, becoming the biggest hit in French language since Céline Dion's "Pour que tu m'aimes encore". It was #1 in Italy, Poland and Russia as well as re-entering my chart directly at #1. Alizée would have six more top 40 hits in my chart, the last one from 2005. She's still very active recording and performing in France. dDwKPGUIVME
  19. It's actually "Con los terroristas"! I've heard that although that voice sounds female, it may be actually from a male raggaton rapper, though Baauer himself doesn't know where does the sample that he got come from.
  20. In 2000, it was fairly easy for a song not reaching #1 to sell more than the dozens who did it. But although most of the songs you mentioned sold well and are remembered, I think that only Who Let The Dogs Out and maybe Reach fit the high status that I'm thinking of. P.S - Is there a site where I can see all year-end charts?
  21. Every year it seems to have at least one song that for some reason (usually locked at #2 before a huge #1 hit) doesn't get to be #1 but has a long chart life (at least by that era's standards), sells as much if not more than most #1s that year and are more remembered. There are some cases where people get to think that they actually were #1 (like "Mysterious Girl" before 2004). I decided to name these songs "pseudo-number ones" but if anyone comes up with a better term, it's fine by me. Here are some examples 1984 - Wham! 'Last Christmas' 1985 - A-Ha 'Take on me' 1986 - Kim Wilde - Keep me hangin' on 1988 - Bros 'When will I be famous' and Kylie Minogue 'Loco-motion' 1989 - Technotronic 'Pump up the jam' 1990 - DNA feat. Suzanne Vega 'Tom's diner' 1991 - Right Said Fred 'I'm too sexy' 1993 - 4 Non Blondes 'What's up?' 1994 - All 4 One 'I swear' 1995 - Oasis 'Wonderwall' and Everything But The Girl 'Missing' 1996 - Robert Miles 'Children' and Toni Braxton 'Un-break my heart' 1997 - Natalie Imbruglia 'Torn', Chumbawamba 'Tubthumping' and Robbie Williams 'Angels' 1998 - Stardust 'The music sounds better with you', Pras, Mya & ODB 'Ghetto supastar', LeAnn Rimes 'How do I live' (the lowest-peaking pseudo-number-one), Aerosmith 'I don't want to miss a thing' and Savage Garden 'Truly madly deeply' 1999 - Alice Deejay 'Better off alone' and Shania Twain 'That don't impress me much' 2000 - Baha Men 'Who let the dogs out' 2001 - Wheatus 'Teenage dirtbag' 2002 - Shakira 'Whenever, wherever' 2003 - 50 Cent 'In da club' 2004 - Kelis 'Milkshake' 2005 - Kanye West & Jamie Foxx 'Gold digger' 2006 - Snow Patrol 'Chasing cars' 2007 - Take That 'Rule the world' 2008 - Kings Of Leon 'Use somebody' 2009 - La Roux 'In for the kill' 2010 - Eminem & Rihanna 'Love the way you lie' and Katy Perry 'Firework' 2011 - Maroon 5 feat. Christina Aguilera 'Moves like Jagger' and Adele 'Rolling in the deep' 2012 - Emeli Sandé 'Next to me' 2013 - Passenger 'Let her go' 2014 - John Legend 'All of me' Can you think of more "Pseudo-number-ones"?
