    103. "Sometimes" Britney Spears (1 week) Reached #1: 16 July 1999 UK Chart Peak: #3 Follow-up to her massive debut hit "Baby One More Time", Britney also managed to hit #1 with "Sometimes" not only in my chart, but also in the Netherlands, New Zealand and the Flemish part of Belgium. While rehearsing for this video, Britney Spears injured a knee, which kept her from travelling to Europe when "Baby One More Time" was hitting big there. t0bPrt69rag

    101. "Saltwater" Chicane feat. Maire Brennan of Clannad (4 weeks) Reached #1: 11 June 1999 UK Chart Peak: #6 English-Irish producer Nick Bracegirdle a.k.a Chicane scored a massive #1 hit in my chart with "Saltwater", one of the most successful dance tracks of all time in my chart. Based around Clannad's 1982 hit "Theme from Harry's Game", it featured the vocals of Maire "sister of Enya" Brennan, a proeminent member of Clannad herself. A 2008 release of a mash-up of this track with Natasha Bedingfield's "I Bruise Easily" hit #13 in my chart. CNbULLx25EI

    100. "I want it that way" Backstreet Boys (2 weeks) Reached #1: 28 May 1999 UK Chart Peak: #1 The 100th #1 in my chart is probably the Backstreet Boys most successful single, the first advance for their 1999 "Millenium" album. It claimed their fourth #1 in my chart and besides being notably their sole #1 hit in the UK, it also topped the chart in Australia, Austria, Canada, Denmark, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland. 4fndeDfaWCg

    99. "Thank ABBA for the music" The Supertroopers (Steps, B*Witched, Cleopatra, Billie and Tina Cousins) (1 week) Reached #1: 21 May 1999 UK Chart Peak: #5 Celebrating the 25th anniversary of ABBA's victory at the Eurovision Song Contest, Steps, B*Witched, Cleopatra, Billie and Tina Cousins got together at the 1999 Brit Awards to perform a medley composed by "Take a Chance On Me", "Dancing Queen", "Mamma Mia" and "Thank You For The Music". Such was a impact that a studio-version release duly followed hitting straight at #1 in my chart. It was the only #1 for all this lot as well as the only ABBA related #1 hit in my chart. On that same week, Tina Cousins managed an incredible feat that is yet to happen again. As well as hitting #1 with this medley, she also entered at #2 in my chart with the 1999 version of her track "Killin' time", making it the only artist to date to be in the top 2 in the same week in my chart. yhgVUe5-Ozg

    98. "No scrubs" TLC (1 week) Reached #1: 30 April 1999 UK Chart Peak: #3 Just when you thought TLC couldn't top such a big hit like 1995's "Waterfalls" (#7 in my chart), they did just that with the first single of their third album (which would ended up being the last as a trio since Lisa "Left-Eye" Lopes would pass away in 2002). "No Scrubs" also topped the charts in the USA, Australia, Canada, Ireland and New Zealand. It spawned an answer song "No Pigeons" by Sporty Thievz. FrLequ6dUdM

    96. "...Baby One More Time" Britney Spears (4 weeks) Reached #1: 12 March 1999 UK Chart Peak: #1 Another song that needs no introducing. It would be my year-end #1 and the first of a whopping string of consecutive #1s for Ms. Spears. Originally submitted to TLC, who would turn it down, the track has topped every chart that you care to name. C-u5WLJ9Yk4

    95. "Colour The World" Sash! feat. Dr. Alban (1 week) Reached #1: 5 March 1999 UK Chart Peak: #15 Not one of the Sash! hits that springs imediately to everyone's minds (including mine), but the one who actually hit #1 in my chart, though it would drop down the chart shortly after. His heyday gone before I started my chart, Dr. Alban's only hit in my chart was 1995's Let The Beat Go On (peaked at #6). -1SvZjsAOHM

I saw her shooting the street dance scene in Lisbon. It was way back in June 2012, before she was pregnant. Back then the song had the working title of "Turth Or Dare".

    93. "Big big world" Emilia (3 weeks) Reached #1: 29 January 1999 UK Chart peak: #5 Swedish singer Emilia scored a big big European hit with "Big Big World" in late 1998 and early 1999, topping in my chart but also in Sweden, Norway, Germany, Austria, Netherlands, Switzerland and French Belgium. Her other hit in my chart was follow-up single "A Good Sign" that hit #18. Still active in performing and recoding in Scandinavia, she now uses the stagename Emilia Mitiku, which is her Ethiopian father's surname. wpkS2DU_qMs

    92. "When you believe" Mariah Carey & Whitney Houston (3 weeks) Reached #1: 15 January 1999 UK Chart peak: #4 Having entered my chart on Christmas 98 at #2, seen off by the Stars On 54, the diva superduet for "The Prince of Egypt" soundtrack took advantage of the early year quietness in the charts to finally hit #1. It won the Oscar for Best Song and turned out to be Houston's final #1 in her lifetime, whereas Carey would only top the chart again again eight years later. vIo9OpKh7BY

    90. "If You Could Read My Mind" Stars On 54 (Ultra Naté, Amber and Jocelyn Enriquez) Reached #1: 25 December 1998 UK Chart peak: #23 The Christmas 1998 #1 in my chart was quite a surprise one, but in the end, it was this cover of "If You Could Read My Mind", by Ultra "Free" Naté, Dutch singer Amber (one of the few Euro-dance artists who were more successful in America than in Europe) and Jocelyn Enriquez for the movie "54" starring Mike Myers, Ryan Philippe, Salma Hayek and Neve Campbell. The song was originally recorded by Gordon Lightfoot in 1971 and covered by acts like Petula Clark, Johnny Cash, Crystal Gayle, Barbra Streisand, Olivia Newton-John and Liza Minelli. The Stars On 54 version stems from the 1980 disco version by Viola Willis. 97ZbiemJ1KU

    89. "The Power of Goodbye" Madonna (1 week) Reached #1: 27 November 1998 UK Chart peak: #6 After narrowly missing the top as both "Frozen" and "Ray Of Light" peaked at #2, Madonna finally grabbed her first #1 in my chart with "The Power Of Goodbye". The video features Croatian actor Goran Vijsnic who would later star in "E.R.". In the UK, the song was released as a double A-side, coupled with "Little Star" a song about her daughter Lourdes. 1JV0tj1oLVs
