87. "She knows you" DJ Tonka (1 week) Reached #1: November 6 1998 In between Além Mar's spells at #1, this amazing dance tune that I had been addicted to all summer finally entered my chart straight at #1. DJ Tonka was born Thomas-René Gerlach in Mainz, Germany. His other hit in my chart was 2000's Don't Be Afraid that hit #19. 57GJzNqfZOQ

84. "És Demais" Santamaria (3 weeks) Reached #1: 2 October 1998 Following the #1 hit "Eu Sei, Tu És" and the top 10 hit "Não Dá Para Viver Sem Ti", Santamaria were now on ballad mode, scoring their second (and last) #1. The band is still very active and has released over 12 albums. mgKLxsPKkYs

83. "A Little Respect" Silence 4 (1 week) Reached #1: 25 September 1998 Following the success of "Borrow", it was time for a re-issue of what was the band's first single: a cover of Erasure's "A Little Respect" who unsurprisingly also hit #1 in my chart. As you know, the same song was cover by Wheatus in 2001 (it peaked at #14 in my chart). KK186r0EC9Y

Top 100 Best Selling Dance Singles of The 90s
Agree. But "Pray" remains far and away her best song (it so deserved to be top 5)

Acts you were certain would be huge...
Wasn't 2012's Lolita released in the UK? In my country (Portugal), Jennifer Paige is kind of a two-hit wonder. was played a lot on the radio.

Top 100 Best Selling Dance Singles of The 90s
The footage of the video for "Give it up" had been previously used in Cappella's "U Got 2 Know" rWReFM4_GVQ

Acts that you were certain would be one hit wonders...
Given the generic r&b content of her first album, I didn't think at the time that Pink would be on course to both bigger chart success and better quality repertoir.
-
Acts you were certain would be huge...
Vanessa Carlton and Michelle Branch I thought Vanessa's "Ordinary Day" would at least make top 40. And Michelle's "All You Wanted" and "Goodbye To You" definitely deserved to do better than "Everywhere".
-
Acts you were certain would be huge...
Of course "Somebody That I Used To Know" would always be tough to follow up but I thought that both Gotye and/or Kimbra would be able to chalk at least one more remotely significant hit.

Acts you were certain would be huge...
If Westlife had broken up sooner (say circa 2005), I believe Shane Filan could have had a Ronan Keating-like successful solo career.

Songs that will reach 1 million sales in 2014
How much has "Umbrella" still left to go? How ironic that 10 weeks at #1 would get your poor sales in 2007 and now you don't even have to reach #1 to sell a million from 2011 on.

Predict: new releases
Will Stromae's "Papaoutai" be released in the UK? Not that I exepct it to do anything, since "Alors On Danse" was only #25 when it was huge in the continent.

Predict: new releases
No UK release date yet for Lea Michele's "Cannonball"?

82. "How Could An Angel Break My Heart" Toni Braxton with Kenny G (1 week) Reached #1: 11 September 1998 UK Chart peak: #22 This track was one year old already, but it stormed to the top of my chart because a) it was used on a Brazilian soap-opera and b) I've finally seen its music video. Featuring a proeminent contribution by Kenny G, it was Braxton's second #1 hit in my chart. qsDJRTzN9FY

81. "The Boy Is Mine" Brandy & Monica (2 weeks) Reached #1: 28 August 1998 UK Chart peak: #2 Inspired by Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney's duet "The Girl Is Mine" and "The Jerry Springer Show", Brandy & Monica provided the ultimate vocal girlfight song. Although it was notoriously reported that Brandy and Monica didn't get along at the time, apparently they have now brushed their rivalry aside and recorded a new duet "It All Belongs To Me" in 2012. "The Boy Is Mine" topped the chart in the US, Canada, New Zealand and Netherlands. Va1Y6uAgNJY

80. "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing" Aerosmith (4 weeks) Reached #1: 7 August 1998; 18 September 1998 UK Chart peak: #4 If it wasn't for "My Heart Will Go On", this would be the movie song smash of the year. The Diane Warren-penned ballad for the movie "Armageddon", featuring Steve Tyler's daughter Liv, gave the band their biggest hit after thirty-plus years of career. It was nominated for both the Oscar of Best Song and the Razzie for Worst Song. Another movie, "The Sweetest Thing", used this song for quite infamous scene. As well as hitting #1 in my chart and in the US, it also topped the charts in Germany, Australia, Austria, Ireland, Italy, Norway and Switzerland. It's also one of the very few million selling singles in the UK that didn't reach the top 3. After three weeks at #1 in my chart, IDWTMAT would claim a fourth week six weeks after it dropped #1. 2014 Winter Olympics
Yes, but only in ice sports: Figure Skating (Torvill & Dean, Robin Cousins, etc.), Curling and Skeleton. In 2002, GB had won bronze medal in alpine skiing (slalom) but Alain Baxter would be disqualified for doping.
