Nice to see England through, I am a bit sorry for Ukraine. Is it safe to say that joint-organized Euros are jinxed? 2000 Belgium / Netherlands (Belgium out on round 1) 2008 Austria / Switzerland (both out on round 1) 2012 Poland / Ukraine (both out on round 1) Compared to one-country Euros (with group rounds) 1980 - Italy > semifinalist 1984 - France > champions 1988 - Germany > semifinalist 1992 - Sweden > semifinalist 1996 - England > semifinalist 2004 - Portugal > finalist 2016 - France ???

Westlife are losing less #1's than I thought they would. In fairness, "You raise me up" was one of their most tolerable.

Surprised that DJ Pied Piper wasn't demosed. It was the Bound 4 Da Reload of 2001 IMHO, i.e., a very random and uneventful #1.

Me too. And quite surprisingly, "My love" was kept at #1.

Six 2000 number ones were covers of former #2 hits (I Have A Dream, American Pie, You See The Trouble With Me, We Will Rock You, Take On Me and Against All Odds)

U2 and Mel C are quite surprising demotions, indeed. So I guess that there was another non-demoted #1 for Westlife, besides the three I predicted (Swear It Again, I Have A Dream and Uptown Girl). Curiously enough only one of these wasn't a cover.

So I'm guessing that Westlife's escaping the non-number one stamp will be Swear It Again, I Have A Dream and Uptown Girl

8/10 with Iceland and Hungary (both alternate choices) instead of Austria and Switzerland. I only regret the exclusion of Switzerland.

  24. One of the most pointless covers ever. The true essence of the song is the father and son dialogue that was stupidly ignored in this. At very least, they should have made Ronan sing in different tones or, better yet, let Stephen Gately sing the son's parts.
