Music Purchases This Week: Week Beginning 5/2/16
I went to Head for the first time ever last year and I loved the £1-£3 compilation albums  Wish I lived closer so I can go there weekly

NOW 93
I was gonna say John Lennon on NOW 45, but he didn't die that year  It'll probably be Heroes as it did go quite high in the charts. Plus even though he didn't appear often, David Bowie is classed as NOW Legend (according to the NOW Book, anywho).

NOW 93
I thought this as well, but since we haven't had a Spin-off, maybe they've spent a lot of money on getting ADELE. But who knows.

NOW 93
That is a lovely colour! Very eye catching. There's also a a bit of info on the Amazon page:

NOW 93
With it all messed up like that it looks like NOW 99!

The NOW Music Thread 2.0
Whether or not they get Adele, Drake and Rihanna they'll still have enough songs to fill up NOW 93. We may get a few double appearances from One Direction and Justin Bieber. Shawn Mendes will obviously be on there as well. I think it's just going to be a bit low on UK Number 1's. That's all.

It is odd that we haven't been given any news on any album. I think around this time last year we got the track listing for NOW Power Ballads. I guess they're focusing on their new Streaming service.

Virgin isn't a major record label anymore. It got brought up by Universal when EMI went bust. The US NOW Company are owned by Universal and Sony as a joint venture. Sometimes copyright is just not there for certain songs, but sometimes they can worldwide exclusives. Not many compilations can brag about have ALL the singles from Taylor Swift's 1989 album. Especially Bad Blood! Drake, Rihanna, Beyonce (and maybe Adele if she doesn't appear on NOW 58) probably have contracts where they can decide themselves what they can do with the copyrights.

The NOW Music Thread 2.0
I agree! I'm still waiting for them to use the US NOW 53 cover design

NOW 57 Cover NOW USA has just released its cover for NOW 57 and I love it! Not often you get an orange NOW logo, and I love the Graffiti. So colourful

NOW 92
Now that the Bieber album has been released I can see him having a double appearance on NOW 93 with Love Yourself & Sorry (they are Number 1's after all). Really unsure about Hello though, but I thought that about "Someone Like You" and "Set Fire..." so she could be included. Also quick question about NOW92. Why does Zara Larsson have a "*" next to her name on the back cover?
-
NOW 92
I'm looking forward to NOW 93. Since this is the time when the charts become stale it's interesting to see what the NOW team will add to the next track listing. It's a reason why I loved NOW 90, so many flops and mini-hits, but still quite impressive.

The NOW Music Thread 2.0
So the US NOW Team have released the track listing for NOW Rock and it's very good. It's clearly a "chart" rock compilation, but the choices they've made are quite incredible. 1. BRING ME THE HORIZON - "Throne" 2. Shinedown - "Cut The Cord" 3. Fall Out Boy - "Uma Thurman" 4. Royal Blood - "Little Monster" 5. Seether - "Words As Weapons" 6. Cage The Elephant - "Mess Around" 7. The Struts - "Could Have Been Me" 8. Imagine Dragons - "I Bet My Life" 9. Cold War Kids - "First" 10. WALK THE MOON - "Shut Up And Dance" 11. X Ambassadors - "Renegades" 12. Chris Cornell - "Nearly Forgot My Broken Heart" 13. Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats - "S.O.B." 14. Elle King - "Ex’s & Oh’s" 15. Florence + The Machine - "Ship To Wreck" 16. BØRNS - "Electric Love" 17. Breaking Benjamin - "Failure" 18. RED SUN RISING - "The Otherside" NOW "What's Next" Bonus Tracks 19. Failure Anthem - "Paralyzed" 20. Devour The Day - "Lightning In The Sky" 21. Wolf Alice - "Bros" Elle King, Florence and BØRNS all together :w00t: The album artwork is the same cover for the UK NOW Rock album from 2014.

NOW 92
Wow. I'm a flop NOW Fan!
-
NOW 92
I think NOW 55 only had 2 number ones as well (Ignition and Cry Me a River). Every other No. 1 was probably on HITS 56.
-
NOW 92
You really should buy their annual compilations called "So Fresh". Every Delta song has appeared on them. The Veronicas appear on their actual NOW series and I think Sheppard are on the So Fresh albums as well

Iconic Pop, Vol. 7 / NOW 91 Volume 7 marks Britney's 4th apperance. She appeared on Volume 1 with Ooh La La, Work Bitch on volume 2, Perfume on Volume 3 and Pretty Girls makes 4 on volume 7. Techinally she's appeared 5 times as she has a featuring credit on "Scream & Shout" with will.i.am on Volume 111 songs have featured artists on them.Tove Lo appears twice, because she is awesome and her songs are awesome.Ghost Towns aplenty thanks to Adam Lambert (first appearance) and Madonna (2nd appearance)There are only 2 UK number ones here. Little Mix's Black Magic and Lost Frequency's Are You With Me. But around this time everyone was "enjoying" Cheerleader and "See You Again".Nick Jonas is the first artist to have a remixed version of his song used instead of the original version or version played on the radio. The (highly superior) remix contains Tinashe!Bitch Better Have Madonna! Rihanna and Madonna are very naughty ladies! Nick Jonas isn't the only former-Disney star on this album. Spiral's "Iconic Pop" Series
Iconic Pop, Vol. 6 / NOW 90 My version of NOW 90 was the hardest to make due to the staleness in the charts around this timeAll together Charli & Rita make up 6 appearances on the 6 series so far. Charli first appears on Vol. 2 with "SuperLove" and Rita appears on Vol. 4 with "I Will Never Let You Down". Both have appeared with Iggy Azalea on separate songs.Madonna appears! Fun fact, Living for Love was at the top of the track listing, but a wardrobe malfunction caused the song to fall to Number 12! NO CAPES!Whilst releasing a country song, a Christmas song and a single from her greatest hits, this is Kelly Clarkson's first appearance on the Iconic Pop series and so far, it's her only appearanceFlorrie has now appeared twice throughout the series.MNEK technically makes 2 appearances here with his own song "The Rhythm" and also writing and providing backing vocals for "Living for Love". Whilst not being released over here, Baby Don't Lie (at the time) was the only Gwen song in any charts ANYWHERE, so I HAD to include it.More movie mania! Ellie Goulding's 50 Shades of Grey song (produced by Max Martin) appears on Disc 2.Hopefully this is the only time Paul McCartney appears in the Iconic Pop series. Disc 1: 01: Jess Glynne - Hold My Hand 02: Years & Years - King 03: Take That - These Days 04: Florrie - Too Young to Remember 05: Meghan Trainor - Lips Are Movin' 06: Taylor Swift - Style 07: Kelly Clarkson - Heartbeat Song 08: Echosmith - Cool Kids 09: Charli XCX - Doing It (feat. Iconic Pop, Vol. 5 / NOW 89 After appearing on Volume 1 with Gentlemen, 2 with Disco Love and 3 with Not Giving Up it seems this may be the last time we see The Saturdays! :,( What Are You Waiting For? was a flop top 40 hit from them for their Finest SelectionQueen Marina finally cameback with her 3rd studio album FROOT.
