Music Purchases This Week: Week Beginning 16/2/15
I buy them on the UK Amazon store on the week they get released, 'cos that's when they're cheapest. I thought I'd get this one in case we don't get "Blank Space" on NOW 90. I brought last year's Easter release just for Kylie and Gaga  Additional B'Day Purchases btw: Albums: Eternal - Power of a Woman Belinda Carlisle - A Place On Earth: Greatest Hits (2 Disc Edition) Beyonce - I Am...Sasha Fierce (Platinum Edition) Goldfrapp - Black Cherry Nicole Scherzinger - Big Fat Liar Compilations: The Best Dance Album In World Ever! 2000 Box Dance Hits NOW That's What I Call Music! 25 The Best Pepsi Chart Album In the World Ever! 2000 The New Pepsi Chart Celebration 2000 NOW That's What I Call Music! 40* NOW That's What I Call Music! 58* NOW That's What I Call Music! 61* *To replace my original copies that are now to fragile to be any use really

Now 90
Ooooh, I hope Living For Love is a hit, 'cos I KNOW we would finally see Madonna grace a Numbered NOW!
-
Now 90
I meant one song from Ed, not the label. NOW 89 had a few Warner inclusions. ^_^
-
Now 90
NOW do like to have continuity though the NOWs, so perhaps they wanted all of the "X" singles on them and Warner only let them have one during the release of NOW 89.
-
Now 90
The only worrying thing though is licensing! I know we go on about Taylor Swift, but that's two songs already out, making it even harder to group together 40 hits between NOW 89 and NOW 90. Ed Sheeran, Take That, Fergie, Mark Ronson/Bruno Mars, Ellie Goulding, DJ Fresh/Ella Eyre, Charli XCX/Rita Ora and (possibly) Madonna will make it an interesting NOW though.

Now 90
The artwork will be revealed on Friday! I hope it's not more smiley faced things and an actual pattern (similar to US' NOW 53 cover). Also i wonder what songs will actually appear, especially the Rihanna/Kanye/McCartney song.

Side note: Germany's version of NOW Music, "Bravo Hits" has added Taylor Swift to it's cover for Volume 88! :w00t: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/81xh0CN2X2L._SL1423_.jpg Does anyone collect compilations like this? Similar to the NOW Brand? I have a few Bravo Hits albums and they're extremely good for some flops/euro pop  they also have a fun booklet with lyrics to some of the songs in English and German and the covers are always pretty clever, this one clearly pays homage to The Avengers

The Grammy Nominees album probably has a enormous budget thanks to sponsor deals and the fact that all record labels are part owners of the compilation series. The NOW series probably has a smaller budget and trying to come to agreements with artists like Beyonce and Taylor Swift can be a little harder. I hope Taylor Swift appears on The Brit Awards 2015 album though :D

Now That's What I Call a Dodgy Edit! That version of "Thank You" is on NOW Movies as well. Here is the track listing for NOW 53 (US) 1. Mark Ronson w/ Bruno Mars - Uptown Funk 2. Meghan Trainor - Lips Are Movin' 3. Maroon 5 - Animals 4. Ed Sheeran - Don't 5. Tove Lo - Habits (Stay High) 6. Ariana Grande w/ The Weeknd - Love Me Harder 7. SAM SMITH - I'm Not The Only One 8. One Direction - Steal My Girl 9. Selena Gomez- The Heart Wants What It Wants 10. Jason Derulo - Trumpets 11. Iggy Azalea w/ MØ- Beg For It 12. Usher w/ Juicy J - I Don't Mind 13. Charli XCX - Boom Clap 14. Mr. Probz - Waves 15. Calvin Harris w/ John Newman - Blame 16. Coldplay - A Sky Full Of Stars NOW introducing What's Next! 17. WALK THE MOON - Shut Up And Dance 18. Fancy Reagan - Knock Me Out 19. Zara Larsson Official - Uncover 20. Danny Mercer - Who Are You Loving Now? 21. Jack and Eliza - Hold The Line No Taylor Swift, which probably means NOW 90 will be swiftless! Not unless they pull out all the stops, 'cos the latest Grammy Nominees album has "Shake It Off" on it (along with Drunk In Love! Gotta get that album). I also have a feeling that "Uptown Funk" will be the "Blurred Lines" of 2015 for NOW and be featured on many Spin-Offs as possible.

Not shocking. NOW 2 has The Rolling Stones, and they are one of the acts that rarely give out the rights to their music.

It could be a licensing issues with the songs. Licensing has become a lot more tighter since 1984!

Can we just talk about how good the US cover for NOW 53 is?! It reminds me of the early 00's UK covers

According to last.fm, I've just listened to "Lately" by Lisa Scott-Lee eleven times in a row. I like the song, but let's not be silly!

Were there any Dance songs that were on Sony/Universal/Virgin back in '99 to be featured? I think a lot of dance songs were on independent labels back then (like MOS). It's only just hit me that Billie's Because We Want To, Honey to the Bee, Girlfriend or Day & Night didn't feature on any of the NOW Year albums! She is a Virgin Records artist (which is now part of Universal). It seems odd that these number ones weren't included! I also do find it odd that Shania has nothing on NOW 1997 or NOW 1999-2000 but did make an appearance on the 2002 one! I do hope we get CD versions of the NOW Year albums (hopefully with Warner & Independent labels contributing) and instead of getting tons of rubbish "Rock" and "Power Ballad" spin-offs, we get a large selection of the years sold through one year and the rest the next year!

I have 1994, 1996-2004. I keep forgetting to download anymore. But then again, 2005+ isn't that interesting to me. I do find it weird that 2005 misses "What You Waiting For?", "Don't Phunk With My Heart" and "Don't Lie".

I think the HITS labels were a bit more lenient when it came to the Winter NOW because those are the ones that usually sell a lot compared to the Easter and Summer editions. NOW 44, NOW 47, NOW 50, NOW 53 & NOW 56 all had songs that would usually be reserved for the rival HITS series, but perhaps even they knew NOW Xmas sales are worth investing in
