Streaming Services Chart Discussion; W/C 17/07/26
I can't see it bringing back 'Three Lions' or anything but maybe a little bit of a resurgence for 'Wonderwall' and 'Hey Jude' after that. (although I wouldn't be surprised if nothing happens at all, the game turned out to be quite entertaining but it's still meaningless at the end of the day)

Club Bizarre 35: Instrumentals II [Voting]
Ooh two of my former song contest artists showing up here - μ-Ziq who I sent to BJSC before + KOAN Sound who I sent to a previous Club Bizarre and flopped with a bit so best of luck to whoever sent them to get a better result x I instinctively went to check if TheSnake entered this and sent Rocketdaan ddd. Hyped to get into these songs anyhoo!

BJSC186 - Upgrades Results
[/late] wasn't around for the results but I caught up with them later in the day and just jumped ahead to the end to see if I qualified or not as I didn't want to build any false hope lol - correct call there. Disappointed but not surprised as it seemed like a really bad semi draw from the jump, I would have needed to run the table with the people in the semi who would even feasibly ever vote for a song like this and getting nothing from the likes of Aelandor and Danæviia shows I did not manage that. I think I might have had a reasonably good chance of qualifying in the other semi but nevermind (although even in this semi I was only 6 or 7 points away, back on form with the missing out by single digits after PAON being a bit further away last month!) At least it doesn't sting quite as bad getting back-to-back DNQs this time considering it's the second time I've done that in the span of less than a year now after avoiding it for over 12 years before that, I'm thinking to send something that's probably also prone to being immediately doomed by a bad semi draw next month so gambling on doing 3 in a row while I have nothing to lose currently. The lyric from my entry that I added as my member title for the month ("why don't you let me in?") proving to be apt </3 mind you probably needed to have cranked the volume up to even realise the song had lyrics hehe Lovely to get three medals among the small handful of votes I did get at least, thanks muchly to @Dobbo for the gold, @pavi for the silver and @jimwatts for the bronze, and also thank you to @HarryInnanen, @matto and @leww for the other points! Pleased to see it getting a few messages of support from the other semi as well x Just commenting now as I finally got around to doing a second listen of semi 1 today so I have my full rankings of the DNQs. (I'll try and get a Q streak update posted soon although need to update my spreadsheet first again) From my semi: 12 Q 10 Q 8 Q 7 Q 6 Q 5 POPHub 4 Q 3 Q 2 Q 1 Deandria 12th Harmonica 22nd Mothertopia 24th FSR Rontvia 25th Altyr Muunilinst 26th Lotunia 28th New Lexico POPHub being out feels like a bit of a headscratcher although it was one I felt really should have been at least a minute longer! Fine results otherwise, it was a fairly weak semi for me (my top 6 were the real highlights so only one major loss), the Poe song wouldn't have usually made it into my votes but shame to see the Deandria streak ending nonetheless. As Rich alluded to this is the first time FSR Rontvia have ever been last in a semi-final oops! Obviously didn't love the song but I am quite surprised it did that poorly. Hendinia unsurprisingly take over the record for most entries without ever coming last in a semi-final (161), although they have come last in the final twice as have FSR Rontvia - Danæviia have the record for most entries without ever coming last in either a semi or a final, 147 as of last month and I'm sure Thy Catafalque will comfortably make it 148 (that very much deserves to be nearer the other end of the scoreboard). And from my ranking of the other semi: 1st Jupiterdonia 😿 7th Zanmatony 16th Numayania 17th Ennea 18th Dalisska 22nd Séyetana 24th Scotland 2 26th Vaskla 29th Baleghde et al 'Pyro Pyro' is a massive banger, y'all goofed on that. Real shame to see Zanmatony out too as I'd have predicted them to be fairly safe as well. Commiserations to Vaskla not quite making it with their debut but very pleased that New Helvetica did make it, I like their entry a lot (reminds me a bit of Regina Spektor) but I did think it might struggle as I thought it might not be the most instant song. Also glad the predictions of A-Konohagakure being out were wrong, we needed that iconic music video again in the final listenthrough *.* Thanks @Assy! for the hostings and graphics although boo hiss at me not getting one of the swanky boarding passes ofc x

Consistent Album Releases
Tyler, The Creator was so consistent with album releases for a long time that he ended up calling out his fans for assuming he was going to drop an album in 2023 and being disappointed (he then dropped in back-to-back years in 2024/2025 though so maybe he'll be back on the 2 year schedule with another album in 2027...) 2009 Bastard (was considered a mixtape at the time but since retconned as his debut studio album) 2011 Goblin 2013 Wolf 2015 Cherry Bomb 2017 Flower Boy 2019 IGOR 2021 CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST 2024 CHROMAKOPIA 2025 DON'T TAP THE GLASS

Gracie Abrams - Daughter From Hell
Lol at this being the exact opposite of my recent realisation about Gracie xx (although tbf I looked up the credits for her previous hits and I see Audrey was also behind 'Risk' which is still Gracie's best song for me so it's not quite a 1 to 1 correlation of her worst songs being the ones Audrey Hobert co-wrote x)

Not a new peak, it got to #5 last week! Yay for ANOTR though - hope they might have a shot to go to #2 this week then.

Club Bizarre 35: Instrumentals II [Confirmations]
Oh if we're counting non-lyrical vocals as vocals still then the song I am maybe sending to the next BJSC might have not been allowed here either oop xo (as it does have substantial contribution of... sounds made by a human's mouth, but I'd definitely still consider it to be an instrumental) No such issue with the song I did send here though.

The BuzzJack Friday Chart Show Thread: 17th July 2026
Yes I really wish people would get over the 'people went out and bought it' thing. If streaming existed back then they wouldn't have done so then either. It simply has not been relevant for a good 10 years now and never will be again barring some kind of post-apocalyptic society reset (although maybe that's more likely at this point than 'Mr. Brightside' ever going back to SCR etc.) If you're going to constantly complain about streaming-era songs breaking those records then you really ought to just stop following the charts entirely! (But anyway, obviously Sam Fender hasn't broken Bryan Adams' record regardless because that record was always explicitly for consecutive weeks so it has never been a relevant comparison to 'Rein Me In'). Anyway... excellent to see ANOTR finally going top 10 and top 5 at that, interesting to see how it holds up next week given the boost in the last couple of weeks does seem to have been at least tangentially tied to the football but it is still holding up very well on both Spotify and Apple so hoping it can stay top 5 if not climb even further. Also pleased that Bonnie Tyler did make the top 40 after all, I've never held the song in quite as high regard as most people do on here but it's still obviously an undeniable classic and a well earned tribute. Was listening to the chart show up to #16, fuming at 'Hey Jude' being skipped just to play 'Ordinary' (I'm not surprised they skipped it - much like they skipped every Halloween song that charted last year except for 'Thriller' because it was top 10 - but that was just straight trolling). Was finally my first time hearing the Alyssa Grace song (I still need to get caught up with the top 100 polls ), I did actually quite like her other low top 100 hit despite the vocals but they are definitely a bit much on this one oops! Also first time hearing 'Great Expectation' and it's another pretty good song from SIENNA.

Top 100 Singles + Albums; W/E 23/07/26
Just occurred to me that 'Wonderwall' has now been held off #1 by a cover of 'I Believe' and then again 31 years later by the song that is about to match the weeks at #1 record of the original 'I Believe'. What are the odds x

I see - New Order must have a lot of video streams then I guess.

Streaming Services Chart Discussion; W/C 17/07/26
I am a bit perplexed at New Order not charting while Neil Diamond did, they're right next to each other on the streaming chart (79 & 80) and Neil was top 200 last week while New Order weren't so they surely definitely had enough of an increase and should have been charting around the same position. Maybe it's some free/paid streaming split shenanigans that I'm not big brained enough to be able to work out but it looks like an OCC oversight to me.

Shakira & Burna Boy - Dai Dai
This has grown on me a bit but in absolutely no way does it deserve to have a higher UK peak than 'Waka Waka (This Time For Africa)' - have a feeling that will still be more enduring for future tournament hype anyway. It is good to see Shakira back in the top 10 after 17 years anyway, I'll just pretend it was the Bizarrap session that broke her duck instead x

Club Bizarre 35: Instrumentals II [Confirmations]
Are people being cheap hens or just trying to sneak in songs that are not really instrumentals? x

Friday Chart Predictions
There is a slight difference between the #1 and the rest of the positions in the chart though lol

Oasis still at #2 on Apple ('Three Lions' still showing as high as #11 but am sure it should plummet throughout today).

Club Bizarre 35: Instrumentals II [Confirmations]
Submitted - I was a bit disappointed with my result in the first Instrumentals Club Bizarre edition (poor brave Kuedo absolutely did not deserve to be bottom 10 x), I will definitely have lower expectations for myself this time. I did have a song I could use for this which would be my longest song contest entry ever but I'm thinking of sending it to the next BJSC. x

BJSC186 - Welcome to Business Class
I can do the final listenthrough today if people are up for it (and maybe if Jim is on standby to start it instead if I am asleep again x) Indeed didn't want to do it yesterday due to the football (i.e. the second day of rude elimination in a row) x

Streaming Services Chart Discussion; W/C 10/07/26
'Wonderwall' at #1 on Apple and 'Three Lions' at #3. Of course back in the same awkward bittersweet moment as after the semi-finals of 2018. It's coming home in 2030 though, don't worry x

Ebbb - Shallow Hits
Funnily enough just learnt of this band existing the other week because they actually share a member with my current (rudely DNQed) BJSC entrant Butch Kassidy...!
