  1. Caught up with the songs I missed and I'm sad I missed out on a communal listen of that 'Teddy Bear' thing. Added 5 more songs to my playlist making 17 in total for the week, still a big step down from the week before but a few big faves among those anyway. It is going to be all songs I knew already getting my votes this week: ABBA - Lay All Your Love On Me Bruce Springsteen - The River Kraftwerk - Computer Love Kraftwerk - The Model The Specials - Ghost Town But good discoveries from Ultravox, Kate Bush and Motörhead. Feel like the Gillan song is worth a shoutout too as I wasn't there for it on SyncTube and I kind of loved how ridiculous and over the top it was, practically Tenacious D esque. Other gooduns I already knew as well from Spandau Ballet and Depeche Mode (I think, sounded familiar at least).
  2. Countries that I have recycled (plus recycling BROCKHAMPTON from myself as I already posted, that being my only full on self-recycle), not counting any recycling of members of groups: 2: Mdiče [Robyn, Roses Gabor] Quotosibb [Estelle*, Robyn] 1: Angelicland [Robyn] Bøtanikkä [Spark*] Cadbury [Kid Sister] Elëdan [Jónsi*] FSR Rontvia [Staygold {Savage Skulls}*] Liechenstaan [Penguin Prison*] Nonsuch [Robyn] United States of Jack [Kid Sister] Countries that have recycled my artists: 6 (!): Aeroche [deadmau5, Kidnap, Minuit Machine, Neggy Gemmy, Rico Nasty, Vegyn] 3: Cadelicia [Feed Me {Spor}, Jade Blue, Kito & Reija Lee] Terra Avium [The Bullitts, Kids Of The Apocalypse, WEDNESDAY CAMPANELLA] 2: Beaverdonia [Digitalism, Neggy Gemmy] Bøtanikkä [070 Shake, TĀLĀ] Danæviia [Beth Ditto, deadmau5] Elëdan [Max Cooper, ROSALÍA] Fljótavík [Digitalism, Valentina] Greenfroze [ATARASHII GAKKO!, WEDNESDAY CAMPANELLA] Juranabaijan [The 2 Bears, Little Dragon] Summericia [MAASAI, Minuit Machine] Yehesi [Staygold {Savage Skulls}*, Truls] 1: Aelandor [Kælan Mikla] B.a.N.G [Little Dragon] Baleghde [Aron Can] Bronzil [Luca Eck] Cor Lupus [Momma] Cowtermont [Feed Me {Spor}] Cumulonimbia [Meleka] Daehun [Karin Park] FARC [SOHN] Harmonica [Sampa The Great] Helgon [Penguin Prison*] Hendinia [Rico Nasty] Hinterlandia [Ecco2k] Isconia [Joe Goddard] Jadakissnia [LUNA] Kluminican Republic [Truls] Lorikeet [Spark*] Mdiče [SBTRKT] Medhelnia [TĀLĀ] Neliönoir [Ela Minus] PRoJ [Jónsi*] Quintessa [Joe Goddard] Quotosibb [Estelle*] Republic of Adonia [Frequency] Scotland 2 [Model/Actriz] Singerpurear [Kadie Elder] Skall [Fatoumata Diawara] Thelonia [Wild Belle] Tinnmark [Karin Park] Unovia [Spark*] Varakë [Kito & Reija Lee] * = artist was sent both before and after my entry The Penguin Prison song Theo sent before me was one I introduced him to fwiw (distant memory now but still a tune x)
  3. My impakt
  4. Release Radar is the algorithmic one, New Music Friday is the same for everyone.
  5. I've put far, far more time into trying to research this one specific question than I would like to admit! (not because of this post, I've just wondered it myself before when updating my spreadsheets - I'm pretty certain it's not the same person but the Haley from 'In Private' seems to be pretty much untraceable, all I've managed to find is what I assume is an old Instagram handle of hers that now doesn't exist. The Haley from 'Stars' is Haley Gibby who is probably best known for being the uncredited vocalist on deadmau5's 'I Remember', fun fact x) I'll post an actual reply to this thread in a bit but aside from recycling my own BROCKHAMPTON for my 100th anniversary entry I've gone out of my way to avoid recycling artists for a long time so it's a short list composed only of my very old entries (although Minuit Machine was an accidental recycle of sorts as one of the members had previously been sent as a solo artist by Jadakissnia (Hante.) - if I'd realised that at the time I wouldn't have sent it lol but it went on to be one of my biggest hits of recent years which takes some of the ~shame~ off x). Might be interesting to look into the list of countries who have recycled my artists though!
  6. o (I thought you were saying you had confirmed already but it wasn't in the sheet yet xx) My national thread will be entirely unreadable now because of the new site messing up YouTube links, I haven't updated it for like 6 years now anyway though, I'll start a new one at some point x
  7. These results are very rude aside from Zach Bryan and Fontaines D.C. x I know it's time to move on to telling people to stream LUX in a couple of weeks but... stream MOTOMAMI
  8. 2023 Daughter - Be On Your Way James Blake - Fall Back Snow Strippers - Under Your Spell

  10. Impakt of my retro contest theme (although with a slightly different specification this time). Am sure I should be able to find something good for this
  11. I am doing this, I just don't have a very long attention span right now and there are too many good songs here that it's taking me forever to cut them down xx
  12. AllStarBySmashMouth wouldn't be a debut, he is New Rivermaya who entered a few times ages ago (around the time I first joined). I have seen him lurking in this forum every now and then for months now though so I don't think it means anything x
  13. Still waiting to see who this is btw
  14. Is there even a way to check what Spotify playlists songs are on? Even if there is, I'm not sure that really explains why Sarah Kinsley was apparently so popular. The song has been out for a month and it still has less than a million total streams on Spotify (and she is American, those kind of numbers for a relatively underground UK pop artist would be a different story but as it is it's not exactly screaming '10 people are going to find this song and want to send it'). I think this is a very unique and odd case, definitely nothing like this has happened since I became a mod until now.
  15. You cannot escape the cheapness (it does seem a bit weird to me that this song got so many confirmations when the artist has not previously been relevant at all on the site but obviously there must be something compelling about it x)
  16. Yes, that's the one
  17. 'Raindance' is now Dave's second highest on Apple, guessing it'll be his highest there fairly soon. 'History' has dropped to #4 behind HUNTR/X.
  18. Plot twist: the song with 4 confirmations is actually by Annie Murphy
  19. Just a quick PSA that an artist being entered 4 times in the last 30 contests is actually an auto-veto criterion. Someone got thrown out for this last month and someone else has now tried the same artist again this time. You can try them again in BJSC 182 xx (I have sent a PM to the person in question)
  20. I have heard of the artist in question but only because they've been sent to the PopJustice contest several times before. Don't think I liked any of those songs oop ~ (perhaps the threshold for the number of confirmations that equate to a veto by the letter of the framework should be changed - the whole framework is really years overdue a rewrite to be honest - but the rules are not so rigid that we would let a song that should quite clearly be a veto for the reasons stated slide anyway, I think there's been maybe 1 song ever before that was allowed through after being confirmed 4 times)
  21. I think I'm going to hold off for now on assuming that Dave's songs will all chart in the top 10 as from what I've read (not listened yet but must do very soon!) it's quite an uncommercial album (not that either of his other albums were packed full of mainstream chasing hits either, he seems to separate his more commercial releases to EPs / singles for the most part) so they may fall off quite sharply and the top songs do have lower first day Spotify numbers than the ones from his last album (the top 3 all did between 770k and 794k then) - but as long as 'History' is one of his 3 charting songs (which I think is very likely now with the lead it has over his third song) it will definitely be a new peak for James Blake at the least. It feels a little surreal to see him appearing as high as #3 on Spotify! His previous best was his feature on the last Dave album and that came in at #14, being the second lowest charting song from that album (it was a lot later in the tracklist, but still outcharted by 2 of the songs that followed it). He did actually have a top 10 hit on US Spotify before with 'King's Dead' (w/ Jay Rock, Kendrick Lamar and Future), got to #7 on US Spotify but only #48 here.
  22. 4 confirmations with no other veto points is only worth 10 veto points which technically isn't enough to be a veto but in practice yes with all the confirmations being in the initial rush there's no way it's not going to be thrown out anyway. I imagine there's a fair chance it'll be confirmed at least one more time anyway.
  23. Confirmed my obscure darkwave song as planned and shaking my head at the hiveminding so far x
  24. FAYE, not RAYE! (And then when someone did get her into the contest with another song later on it didn't even qualify. Similar with Ryn Weaver, I remember she was blocked from being sent with 'OctaHate' (iirc) due to many confirmations but then years later finally appeared in the contest last month and DNQed)
  25. Manifesting James Blake getting a #1 single (Won't happen, but hopefully it'll be safe to be one of the 3 charting songs and place somewhere in the top 10 if not top 5 - I see the song that's on Spotify's New Music Friday is the Tems collab, Radio 1 have just given the album the 'songs from' treatment on its playlist so far so hard to tell which song is meant to be "the single" but obviously 'History' is just leading at the moment as it's track 1 on the album, just remains to). Apple update: 5 History 6 175 Months 7 Chapter 16 9 No Weapons 11 Raindance 15 My 27th Birthday 16 Selfish 21 The Boy Who Played The Harp 28 Fairchild 29 Marvellous Hyped to see the Spotify numbers tomorrow! Just occurred to me if 'Chapter 16' is one of the charting songs that'd also be a (likely) first top 10 hit for Kano! Over 12 years since his last top 40 hit (a feature on a Tyler James song lmao, definitely entirely forgot that existed) and 18 years on from his current highest peak of #18 for 'This Is The Girl' (feat. Craig David).
