  1. *.* what a finish! 'Moskau' didn't quite make my points (ranked it 13th) while 'Omega' was my 10 pointer (I moved it up from 8 to 10 after my relisten so sorry for that costing you Jim!) so very happy with that, well done Dobbo. Good that we did get a relatively obscure winner in the end, the artist at least, it is probably by some distance the most well known Hungarian prog rock song due to the Kanye connection hehe (I do wonder if that was how you knew the song in the first place) but we'll take it nonetheless x It's also quite refreshing to see a song from as far back as the 60s managing to win one of these! Only the second winner from before the 80s and one of those was forced by being in specifically a 70s theme (the other one being Yellow Magic Orchestra from the very tail end of the 70s). All of my top 4 finished in the top 5 so I cannot grumble too much at just missing out on it myself - really pleased to see Kolrassa Krókríðandi doing so well and even almost beating Sigur Rós for the Icelandic throne, all 3 of the Icelandic entries were fab so happy to see them all in the top 10 but was especially rooting for KK for being so much more obscure than the other two (and easily my favourite). Looking back at the archive 91 points is the highest score to date for 6th place (would have been enough for top 5 in every previous contest except maybe the first one where it'd be tied with 5th) so a little unlucky in that regard that the points at the top were so spread out, still happy with that performance anyway, have come top 10 in 3 of the last 5 contests which is a world of difference from my form prior to that where I was almost always bottom 5! Thanks Dan for the hosting, was a good theme choice, plenty of good discoveries and really enjoyed the results reveal concept, kept me on my toes and worked out nicely with that dramatic tiebreak ending x
  2. o: Tiebreak for the win then I guess!
  3. Surprisingly few medals for Björk there - still a top 10 though, not bad x (conversely I'm surprised to see Wolfsheim getting so many!) I'm thinking Dschinghis Khan have kept it as I'm not sure I see either of the remaining songs having got that many medals - although I would love if Omega can sneak it... An outside chance that I might have remained in the top 5 if it is that both of the remaining songs locked in the bulk of their points already
  4. Aw I actually thought Clannad might have picked up a few medals (they were very close to getting one from me), still a decent result for them anyway. Me now locked in as the highest placing Spanish entry, nice (plus a confirmed single digit finish position!) Good to see Righeira locked in for the top 10 as well.
  5. Oh so close for 'Dimeroj'!! Yay for that also cracking triple figures anyway.
  6. 'Moskau' hanging on suddenly looking more likely! Not too bad of a medal haul there for Euroshima, think it must have been a while since I last got as many as 3 golds in one contest - thanks Jade, Jim and Severin + Chez and Dan for the silvers! Only need to stay ahead of 2 of the yet to be announced songs to stick in the top 10 so hopefully that's a safe bet now x
  7. Hoping to see a good medal haul for 'Hellismanna Kvæði' - and then tension for my own result after that I guess eep edit: ah there we go, not bad! Quite an easy 12 for me so hope it'll be staying quite near the top.
  8. Zdravko being the lowest finisher that I voted for then aw, deserved better than that.
  9. 110 points would be enough to win half of the previous contests it appears... (the last three winners have all got slightly more than that, and then there were the two early landslide winners from Vicious Pink and Saint Etienne).
  10. Good to see a few medals for 'Skandal Im Sperrbezirk', actually have that song stuck in my head at the moment!
  11. Oops Mango. Needed lyrics about camels I fear. (you won't know what that's a reference to - I direct you to this iconic BJSC entry that the instrumental of your song reminded me of x)
  12. Ooh thanks Wouter, quite a rarity to get points from you! Cool entry from AllStar, only just missed out on my points. Sitting in 9th place going into the 'televote' seems like a good spot - high enough that there isn't that much ground to have to make up, and possible that being right at the top might actually be a bad sign with this concept as it might mean those songs didn't get many medal positions Hoping I have a great chance to at least stick with another top 10 anyhoo!
  13. A good pick for a first song contest entry from Nine And 3/4 (figured that was probably yours based on your flag on here being Serbia x). Thanks for a few more points also!
  14. Cody's grew on me a lot on second listen to sneak a point from me - I came across a lot of city pop stuff when I was initially searching for an entry for this (before I decided to cheat code and just search for darkwave on RateYourMusic x) and the genre seems to tend to be a bit samey but this is a good one x
  15. Ooh I would not have guessed Wardy being behind Kolrassa Krókríðandi - excellent entry there <3
  16. Hen I'm not that cheap x (the artist only has a couple of songs with (barely) over 1,000 streams on Spotify so should definitely be new to everyone! Me going for such obscure artists hasn't panned out well for me lately but I'll keep trying)
  17. Thanks Mattias! The cover art for that Björk song (well, its A-Side) is truly cursed but the song was a tune. Also predictably into the Sigur Rós song, as per usual with me I've not dug into their older material but I know this is their most acclaimed album!
  18. It was indeed you who sent Mina before @Popchartfreak (in the 2nd BJSC Foreign Languages spinoff) Thanks Julian - yours was another one where I liked the instrumental substantially more than the vocals but still a bit of a bop.
  19. I did vaguely recognise the Omega song from being sampled in Kanye's 'New Slaves' but cool to hear the full song, a great Floyd-esque tune there. Also lovely entry from Herbs. Thanks Dobbo and Cow!
  20. Thanks for a mealworm Mango x Jade being behind the recycle of my former Club Bizarre artist oh my. (unfortunately I wasn't that keen on this one as it's a little too aggressively French for me but I did like the instrumental)
  21. Was there a Selena album in that bucket list you went through Chez? Was kind of interesting to hear some older Latin pop, I think I'd need to explore her music a little more to understand her acclaim ngl but this song was quite fun x
  22. My song is in fact from Argentina but I suppose you meant languages rather than countries x I feel like my song might be one that gets mostly high points or nothing so possible I might be waiting until the end to see if I get a rush of medal positions or if I am actually just flopping xx Thanks Rollo for the points announced so far! I knew AH Gold's song already via Jade but it was a cool one to revisit, a slightly less frivolous song than I remembered it being. Great entry from Jester as well, also enjoyed Addy's and Jim's (both not far off my points #spoilers).
  23. Oh so you're announcing all the medal position points at the end? Gah I thought Projekt Jon would have been Addy's - a great pick anyway and stood out quite a lot genre wise so hoping that'll give you another good result x
