I did also change my country name for one contest to 'Land of Ostriches' because le epic funnie random xx At one point I planned to do a one off contest reverting my country name to Egabbac, I was going to send Ou Est Le Swimming Pool's 'Dance The Way I Feel' which felt like a throwback to that era, but I changed my mind and never ended up doing that (and mdh sent that song as a throwback instead coincidentally, turns out I missed out on a big hit with it). I don't think I would ever change my name again now, Persephonia still feels like a satisfying name to me x

I pinched my name from Tirren using the word 'Persephone' in a context I no longer remember. Was called Egabbac before (just 'cabbage' spelt backwards because le epic random funnie) that so I suppose there's a universe where I just stuck with that name forever xx

You're not allowed to send the same artist to two contests in a row so you'd have to wait a bit to send Valencia again. (the Jacob Alon song is great, discovered it from the Mercury Prize ceremony the other week x)

Where/when did you ask about this? I probably just missed it or forgot about it, it'd take me about 10 seconds to copy and paste all of this from my spreadsheet. (and all the entries are documented already in the Songs of BJSC thread x) On a related note I noticed when updating that thread the other day that we've just passed 10,000 total entries all time! The chronological 10,000th entry (counting the AQ as the first song of this contest, then semi 1 then semi 2 in running order) was actually Dobago's anniversary entry so that's quite neat

Pavi/Vülker weren't the only hosts that disappeared while hosting, the short lived Brechtoria (Bradders) did the same also leaving their contest in limbo for several days before he resurfaced and sent the votes over to someone else to finish hosting the contest. I still see him lurking on the site now but he's only posted 3 times since that ill fated hosting attempt.

Yes the Slinkee Minx thing is not so much that people could change their entry mid contest, just that confirmations were originally done in public so everyone knew when people changed their entries, but you still couldn't change after voting started. The one time I do recall a song being swapped out after the semis started was when someone sent a remix of Major Lazer's 'Keep It Goin' Louder' and it initially evading notice that the original version had already been sent in an earlier contest! And also to add a third example of Pavita's hosting shenanigans (albeit from the same contest as the one Addy posted about), he initially posted an edited version of the final set of votes in BJSC 61 to make it appear that I won before being lol jk and posting the real results where I came 2nd. Luckily I did win for real only half a year later so the mental scarring was only temporary xx (love this thread, am sure I could come up with many more things to post in it, we love a good lore drop x)

Rather surprised at 'Girl, so confusing' being Charli's top song but at her retaining so many AQs in general. Have been a bit preoccupied with BJSC results but I will get this done shortly (made it through voting in all of the years again this year woo, I made a Spotify playlist of all of the songs I voted for in the 2023 edition, will need to give it an update with 2023-24 songs I've voted for now and any others from 2015-2022 which weren't already on that playlist). It didn't help that this music video was released before 'Drums Of Death' and didn't have any clear indication that part was a completely separate song and not just an intro bit for the music video!
