^^ If it took 500 sales to make the top 20 in a slow week in 2006, it's without question that this would be considerably more in 2010, given the inception of downloads and, given the fact that music sales are increasing universally, I see no reason why Ireland would not be included in this trend. So if the a no.20 is selling a lot more than 500, it goes without saying that the no.1 would be considerably more, at least a few thousand. So given that ushers supposed sales remain sourceless, and using logic, I think its safe to say that it's bull$h!te

Would be some shock if Need You Now was an eventual no.1! :o

I couldn't tell you the name of the site for the life of me, but i remember googling 'irish music sales' or something similar, and i found a site that said that on an average week, a no.1 sold 6000, a no.10 sold around 1000 and to get to get into the top 20 you'd have to sell around 250. If you have the patience to scroll though the irish chart 2009 thread you'll find the site I am talking about.

Your gonna have to provide some form of a source for that info, cause I remember reading that the average No.1 in Ireland sold 6,000 a week.

Will.i.am) – his tenth Irish hit single and second No1, six years after reaching the top with ‘Yeah!’. The Glee Cast leap seventeen places from No19 to No2 with Madonna’s ‘Like A Prayer’, while their ‘Gives You Hell’ travels in the opposite direction, down nine places from No1 to No10. James O’Connor & Audrey Trainor have this week’s highest new entry at No9 with ‘Falling Up’, released across seven versions covering a range of genres. Cathy Davey has the next new entry at No17 with her independently-released ‘Little Red’ – her first Irish hit single despite both albums making the Top 30. A correction on the compllation chart where I've discovered that I was getting the Twilight and Twilight: New Moon soundtracks mixed up. I will edit the affected posts asap but for now the last 5 weeks for the New Moon album should read 10 9 9 19 - 28. The Twlight OST was at no 22 in the first of those weeks. Any fans of Josh Ritter - who has the highest entry on the album chart - can grab 5 free tracks if they're quick from http://www.hotpress.com/joshritterweek/index.php Finally - not directly connected to the charts - but one of Irelands top broadcasters Gerry Ryan died suddenly on Friday morning. 2FM for whom Gerry presented a daily morning show changed its output heavily to reflect this when the news broke during the afternoon and it will be interesting to see if this has any effect on next week's chart.

Usher been No.1 for a lot of the week, he should be a dead cert for No.1 on the main chart tomorrow. Train No.2, could well rise to No.1 now the video has finally been released to tv. Very Suprised at Lady Antebullum, No.3 :o So glad Glee have dropped off, there should be no chance of another No.1 tomorrow :D Very dissapointed at how fast Diana dropped :(

Just had a look at the certifications there, Lady GaGa sold over 135,000 albums in Ireland last year :o Yet I don't get how Susan Boyle supposedly is 8x platinum, Lady GaGa is 9x platinum, yet Susan Boyle was listed as the best seller of the year? :unsure: Can anybody clear that up?

OMG could well go to No.1 next week though, performing well on iTunes. That is if Glee doesn't replace itself at No.1 with Like A Prayer! :o

Despite having now had an unprecedented 28 tracks in the Top 50 since the beginning of the year the coveted No1 spot has until now remained out of their reach – both ‘Don’t Stop Believing’ and ‘Halo/Walking On Sunshine’ made it to No4 – their previous highest position. Usher Feat. Will.I.Am remain at No2 with ‘OMG’ while 2008 X-Factor Semi-finalist, Diana Vickers, launches her recording career and sees her debut single ‘Once’ enter the Chart at No3 as this week’s highest new entry. Train drop a place to No4 with ‘Hey, Soul Sister’ while Lady Gaga and Beyoncé’s ’Telephone’ drop from last week’s No1 to No5. The Album Chart also sees a change at the top this week as AC/DC go straight to No1 with ‘Iron Man 2’. Essentially a compilation album from a band infamous for not releasing greatest hits packages it was devised as the soundtrack to the upcoming film of the same name. Their last release in 2008 – ‘Black Ice’ – also made it to the top of the Chart. Mumford & Sons’ ‘Sigh No More’ drops a place to No2 while Florence & The Machine also drop a place as ‘Lungs’ slides from No2 to No3. Paul Weller releases his 10th solo studio album this week – ‘Wake Up The Nation’ – which enters the Top 10 at No8 – two places behind 2008’s ’22 Dreams’ which debuted at No6. Selena Gomez & The Scene provide the third new entry in the Top 20 as their debut album ‘Kiss & Tell’ enters the Chart at No14. PIIALS has been receiving loads of airplay here for some reason, but will probably start to drop off now that TSWABH has been released to TV. Train is being released in the UK within a few weeks. And "they" do get Chipmunk, all of his previous singles have been released here, with Oopsy Daisy peaking inside the top ten. Until You Were Gone will probably be released on iTunes on Sunday, alongside the UK.

I'm guessing Diana will go to No.1 as the week goes on?

Very dissapointed Usher didn't go to No.1 this week, well sick of Telephone now. Good to see Memories inside the top ten and Taio & Ke$ha up to No.15, they'll definately go top ten next week. Shocked utterly to see Florence in the top ten with DDAO considering how old it is, but it does deserve it, second best song on the album after the the amazing Cosmic Love (which I'm still upset never got a release :D). So who'll take No.1 next week, Diana or Usher? Or perhaps Glee? :o

Happy enough about Usher being #1, he should be in with a good shot of getting to No.1 on the main chart next Friday too. And omg at Selena Gomez being #12, wasn't expecting that. Kelis at #32, how much higher will this go do you think? Very worrying that Kate Nash is only #110 so far... and it's good to see Don't Trust Me charting on iTunes again, if only at #154 :)
