The **Irish** Chart Thread 2009
Looks like we'll be stuck with them for another week at least, although I'd like Shakira to sneak the No.1 next week before Alexandra Burke takes over.

I think the main reason for it's enduring success was simply for the fact that he is Irish. Any half decent song by an Irish artist will always do well in Ireland in a market flooded with American and British artists. Also, it was EXTREMEMLY popular amongst young people!!

PREDICT: Eva Simons - Silly Boy
So... I'm guessing Eva Simons will just be any one of these internet sensations that eventually came to nothing?

PREDICT: Eva Simons - Silly Boy
I first saw it on the music channels about three weeks ago and have only seen it twice since.

I'm beginning to lose faith in the Irish chart now. HOW COULD THIS POSSIBLY BE SO????? TEN WEEKS?!?!?! They're now tied with Mark McCabe for the longest running No.1 this decade. I simply don't understand it. They've been No.2, 3 and 4 on iTunes all week... is iTunes losing its influence or something? What other download sites are widely used in Ireland?? I simply don't understand how it could still be selling enough to be No.1 in its fourteenth week on the chart, especially when it's had so many challengers recently in the form of Taio Cruz, David Guetta, Mr. Hudson, Tinchy Stryder & Jay-Z. I give up!!

Glad that Pixie and Little Boots are both getting the success they deserve but still no change at the top :( Although that looks set to change with Taio Cruz currently No.1 on iTunes, where did that come from?? :o

Well she'll be top 5 at least next week!

Oh dear for Industry. Anyway, another boring chart week, although I'm glad Remedy has finally broken the top ten. Although not to happy about IGF going back to No.1 for a SEVENTH week :( And it is now the longest serving No.1 download since their inception in the charts - NINE weeks! Even longer than Umbrella. Glad Boys And Girls charted this week, and it's currently No.3 on iTunes so hopefully it might challenge for No.1 next week

Ah well this is about two years ago - I think - and downloads now have a much greater influence. Anyway, Pixie Lott is in the iTunes top ten with the much delayed Boys And Girls. Woop! Although it's only been on release since Wednesday so hopefully it's sold enough to chart tomorrow.

New Zealand Singles Chart 2009
Wow. Can't believe I'm the only one to comment on the NZ chart all year! They have a great chart, one of the best in the world IMO. My only problem is that songs stay far too long at No.1! Only been 7 No.1's this year!! I've also discovered some great music from the NZ music chart. Midnight Youth, Smashproof, Ladyhawke - all great artists!!

Really? Don't most songs that get to No.1 on iTunes get to No.1 on the charts? Although David Guetta is No.1 now, so hopefully he'll get the No.1. I don't particularly like the song, but anything really to avoid I Gotta Feeling returning to the top! I was in love with this song but I'm SO sick of it now and it definately doesn't deserve a 7th week at No.1!!

Looks like Get Sexy won't be getting to No.1 after all... it's after slipping to No.3 on iTunes :(

Who will be number one in two weeks time? [13.09.09]
Really hope Pixie gets No.1

iTunes Chart // August III - September I
Well the X Factor effect is officially in full swing. Sex On Fire back up to No.13. Also I see daft punk at No.64... could that possibly be because of its use in Big Brother? I can't think of any other obvious reason.

I'm not sure to be honest... I think it sounds far too like his previous stuff.

Also, Mika can only scrape No.21 with his comeback single on a slow chart week. That's a bit of a disaster!

Ugh! What is this $h!te at No.1?!? Fairly boring chart this week... dissapointed that Remedy didn't break the top ten yet, but going by iTunes it'll do this next week. And on to next weeks chart... it's fairly obvious that the Sugababes will be No.1. They've been on iTunes since midnight and are already top ten. Surprised also to see Wale & Lady GaGa at No.25 (on iTunes I mean). Also, I Gotta Feeling has now equalled the record for longest serving No.1 download. Eight weeks! I do like it and everything but it really doesn't deserve this!!

Nothing too notable on the chart today, although some very welcome new entries on the album chart!
