The Irish Chart Thread 2012
I sincerely doubt it. So much mediocrity on that show.

Note: Republic of Ireland threads are now in this forum
Makes sense. I always found it pretty bizarre that the Irish topics were in the UK section.

Oh good god <_< How can they have a reunion when they only released 2 singles ever?! :D And sorry to be a pedant but I think it was March when they released their first song. I should know, I bought it :(

He charted at No.47.. internet hype I suppose? Plus it was assisted massively by the Walk Off The Earth cover doing the rounds on YouTube during the week. If you haven't seen it check it out, it's really cool :) And I didn't get your Six comment?

Gotye has charted on our shores, finally :D Should break the top 30 next week too :) All I need now is for 212 to become a hit and then I'll be laughing

Gotye almost top 20 now :cheer: Should sell enough this week to crack the top 50, all it needs now is some radio play and the song to be added to the music channels and it'll be flying :D

Unbelievable that the best selling song in Ireland for once wasn't an X-Factor, charity or novelty single!

Gotye feat. Kimbra
It took me about three times to be hooked. It was when I heard Kimbras verse - then I was hooked! :o

Gotye feat. Kimbra

Can anybody tell me why Paradise is doing so well now? Obviously I know they were on X Factor a few weeks back, but even before that Paradise suddenly surged up the chart, despite being available since September. Anyone know why?

Such a shame that the latest X-Factor dirge is the Christmas No.1 for yet another year, I was really hoping Winter Song might do it. I'm not particularly crazy about the song, but it would have been the perfect Christmas No.1

Just looked up Gotye on iTunes there, and having been previously available for months, both 'somebody that i used to know' and his album are now available only on pre-order, with a release date of January 1st. Does this mean it's gonna be promoted over here? :o

Wow, never thought the day would come when even their fans here would be sick of them. Westlife fail to make the top ten at #11 :D

It's massive all over Europe, yet Guetta is yet to make it a single, instead choosing the far less superior Without You... I don't understand

I thought this would be the type of song that's perfect for radio.. kind of in the same vein as 'The A Team' no? Also it's such an amazing song and has gotten to No.1 in both Australia & NZ, both countries with charts very similar to Ireland & The UK, this simply must be a hit!! It's probably my favourite of 2011 :)

They are fairly new here in Ireland, much like the television and the internet.

Amy Macdonald at #111 with This Is The Life :cheer: :cheer: :D Good to see The Wanted already doing well with Lightning, it's quite a good song :) Also, anybody know why Smells Like Teen Spirit is at #30? Apart from the fact that the album was re-released recently, obviously...?
