  1. I guess, but arent morrocan Berbers an indigenous race rather than black? Not that race needs to be brought in to this, I was just surprised that there didn't seem to be any black winners bar Estonia 2001.
  2. Cool music video from, Aminata. Irrelevant point but a black woman has never won Eurovision! Would quite like her to be the first but I'm just hoping it qualifies now judging by the lack of support there seems to be for it out there.
  3. Okay, love. Do we know the date by when all votes will have been announced?
  4. I just prefer the English language version of it.
  5. Glad to see Macedonia get a point - it's quite a nice song in English.
  6. This was really great! It was like a sitcom! It's a shame we don't get to see more backstage nowadays. It'd be cool if there were streaming webcams in the green room throughout and also an after show where the BBC discuss what just happened. I know there were similar shows years ago not very well done but would be cool to bring them back.
  7. I'm surprised at the lack of votes for Albania and the amount of countries voting for Azerbaijan
  8. I'll do it for the last 10 winners: 2005 - Greece - Helena Paparizou 2006 - Finland - Lorde 2007 - Georgia - Sopho 2008 - Armenia - Sirusho 2009 - Estonia - Urban Symphony 2010 - Germany - Lena 2011 - Germany - Lena 2012 - Sweden - Loreen 2013 - Norway - Margaret Berger 2014 - Italy - Emma
  9. Bland voting up to now! Still no points for Latvia or germany *sigh*
  10. Oh and that looks amazing.
  11. That's very interesting! I heard there was a rival TV channel in morrocco that is more liberal than the state broadcaster who previously took part - so it might be them? I can't remember the specifics off the top of my head though. Tunisia is more interesting to me though > I know they are currently struggling to get western Tourism back since the Arab spring and then also the recent terrorist attack - so maybe they are seeing this as a tactic to get their name out there and be seen as a safe westernised destination. Other countries have used Eurovision in the past for nation brand building. But would these take part with Israel in the game? Kosovo wouldn't be allowed to take part though until it's actually a recognised country though, surely? Kazakhstan - I think we will see a debut eventually. Eastern block would be happy for the points. Personally I really wanna see Liechtenstein debut more than any other country. It's the only country that fully sits in Europe to never take part. (I don't count Vatican because it's not reallllllly a country as such)
  12. Jack89 posted a post in a topic in Eurovision Song Contest
Must give this a listen 😮
  13. I love Nadine! She's hilarious! I'm still not over her being relegated to the depths of backing singer on their comeback ha her voice is girls aloud to me and Kimberley & Nicola with their only good for speaking lines yet stealing lead vocals can bugger off! ;p
  14. I totally agree with the Lena point - I don't understand why she is constantly overlooked. Would be interesting to compare hers an Loreens various post Eurovision sales figures. I do think a few points at the conference were more coincidental than anything but all round very interesting with lots of good points! Re the Slovakia question - it's hard to understand what he is getting at? Considering they've only taken part 7 times and the viewing figures were low, that is probably the reason they aren't taking part. More than likely see it as a waste of money/ energy when there is no public appetite. I guess the nation could feel rejected because they always do quite badly but then again lots of countries do badly repeatedly! And as far as I'm aware Slovakia is very pro EU with an integrated Outlook and friendly with member countries so I can't see there being any anti euro tensions making them not want to take part. Maybe they don't feel like they have anything to prove anymore or need to showcase themselves on a European stage for recognition like they did after their independence in 1993 and eurovision debut in 1994. I think this is just an academic trying to find an additional reason that isn't there... But maybe I'm wrong ;p However I have been to Bratislava and it's odd that Austrians aren't visiting but maybe people that live in Vienna want to travel further afield for a holiday and dont ever have a need to pop across... Eg I've never been to Scotland but I've been to lots of mainland European countries.
  15. A) I don't agree that going on first is one of the best running order positions as people are likely to tune in late / forget earlier songs as the show moves on, especially if the song isnt extremely strong. B) RE Sweden yep I forgot about the first half/second half draw but regardless of that, my point was that it doesn't matter where they are placed and for others it does, so SE should have been given a worse slot. Plus if you're not happy with the tone of my comments then ignore them. If I want to comment negatively on aspects and give constructive criticism on how I think it would be better I shall. I'm not going to fangirl over everything just because I like eurovision- or because it is a popular opinion on the forum because the point is to discuss your point of view. As for contributing nothing, the point of a forum is to have discussions and content which create views/clicks/engagement and keeps the forum alive. There are many threads which are useless or games being created just to keep this forum activity high, whereas yano actual varied discussions with different opinions can also keep activity high too... And are much more beneficial than attempting to be 'sassy' at members ala 3rd rate buzzfeed memes or trying to be bitchy - which goes against the point of a forum to discuss, engage and keep it alive.
