The Friday Night Project *New Series*
Beth Ditto has been by far the best guest host this series. She got Alan and Justin's humour a lot better than most of the guest presenters

I think the Big Brother Birthday themed week has been quite fun so far, and certainly handled better than the Fake Week theme (which they could have done much more with IMO).

I think last night's episode was probably the best so far this series. The water fights were a lot of fun. Brian is getting better and better.

If 'Umbrella' had never been released...
All the songs in the second choice are terrible in one way or another, so I'm glad Umbrella stopped all of them from getting to number one.

What's the point in sending new people in that late in the game? Unless it's for eviction fodder so bigger characters don't fall at the last hurdle.

Davina is a bit stupid with her interviews anyway. However, it's worse when she gives the likes of Jade and Grace an easy ride and gave harsh interviews to Makosi and Susie. I know a lot of people found Susie boring, but she didn't actually do anything wrong.

Brian has been pretty good recently. I won't mind if he wins. I'll miss "Pauline"/Thaila.

UK Singles top 3 POLL
2003. Both Bring Me To Life and Crazy In Love are among the best number ones we've had so far this decade. Not that I was a fan of them, but there have been a lot worse novelty acts than Fast Food Rockers. 1999 is my worst on there. On all the others I like at least one of the top 3. I'm also surprised that the 2007 is one of the better ones.

Ziggy is a slimy idiot. He was so condescending towards Chanelle. It's his own fault he is in that situation, so in a way I'm glad she's made it difficult for him.

Big Brother odds
Yes, it is strange. Is Amanda the one who did the shopping budget on her own? Maybe that made a difference. :???:

Billi is a prat. He's an arrogant poncey twerp. He's got to go. Tracey was really funny in Tuesday's episode when she argued with the others about the task. She may become my favourite one.

Charley isn't my cup of tea, but to be honest there are several people I'd like to see evicted before her. First on my list to get booted out would be Billi. He is awful, the preening poser.

I wouldn't mind Tracey winning, I quite like her. I don't think there is any clear winner at the moment though. Charley has been incredibly lucky to escape being nominated for eviction three times in a row. Maybe she'll be up this week as she only just escaped being nominated this time by the skin of her teeth. Her putting on a big teary drama queen show about Seany leaving is no surprise, she did the same when Emily was kicked out and Shabnam was evicted, and neither exactly left Charley on good terms.

I'm starting to like Jonathan. I loved his dig at Billi about him doing a mincing modeling walk for five days, and his comment to Ziggy about him not being able to see much of Chanelle on the outside as she'll "need to go back to school".

One thing I liked about the second series was that they parodied scenes from the first series.

Spaced has to be one of my favourite programmes ever. It was brilliant, and hilariously funny. If you've seen and enjoyed Shaun Of The Dead then Spaced is very similar. It is well worth seeing if you haven't already. I definitely agree the Sally Sparrow Mysteries would be a much better series than Torchwood.

Editors - Smokers Outside The Hospital Doors
I really liked 'The Back Room' album, but I can't say I'm all that impressed with what I've heard of their latest stuff. Don't get me wrong, it's alright, but it very much looks like they could be having 'difficult second album' syndrome.

Ash to release no more albums - ever.
I think in some ways Ash have always been a 'singles band' anyway. I know chartwise their albums have always done better than their singles, but I personally think they've always made great singles and been hit and miss with albums. I think this is a good idea for them, as sadly I agree their best years appear to be behind them.

The Holloways, "Generator 07"
I still like it, and I think it suits a summer release more than it suited the October release it had before.
-
Klaxons, "It's Not Over Yet"
I think it's an OK-ish cover, but I like their own songs better. It'll probably be a hit though. Oddly enough I didn't like Golden Skans as much as their other singles, and that was the one that was a hit as well.

Dr Who Thread
One of the best episodes of this new series I think. The fact the Doctor wasn't in much worked much better here than it did in 'Love And Monsters', and the 'message on DVDS/angel statues' story was really good. Steven Moffatt writes great episodes. I thought Sally Sparrow was brilliant. They have to bring her back again, even if it's only for a one-off. She'd certainly make a great companion for The Doctor. It was a shame she only had a few minutes with him as they looked like they'd work well together. I thought her boyfriend was quite a good character as well. I'm not looking forward to next week's episode though, as frankly I've never liked Captain Jack much. But overall this series has been pretty good.

Natalie Imbruglia's "Torn"
At the time, Chris Evans made a big fuss about Torn being a cover version... however he got the 'original' artist wrong, as he said this Norweigan singer Trine Rein was the original version, when in fact Ednaswap was the original. Trine Rein did have a hit with it around 1996 in Norway I think. I think Chris Evans contacted Trine to try and get her to have a go at Natalie for covering the song, but she wasn't interested (probably because she knew she'd look like a hypocrite, or maybe she just wasn't bothered either way). The Ednaswap version is a bit more 'rocky' than Natalie Imbruglia's, but personally I like the sound of Natalie Imbruglia's voice better. I don't think there's really a big scandal about this really. Songs often get passed around to different singers before someone scores a big hit with it, and that's been going on in the music industry since at least the 1950s.

Far, far too many WAG wannabes. There some housemates I like. Laura seems a lovely girl. I hope she does well. Also, Lesley is unintentionally funny and Emily is quite pretty (even if her 'new music called indie' comment was ridiculous).
