Iga Swiatek's winning streak ends at 37 matches as Alize Cornet takes her out in the third round :o

Can't believe I rushed home from Sainsbury's just to watch Katie Boulter win only two games in a match lasting 51 minutes

Heather Watson has made the fourth round of a grand slam for the first time in her career!!!!!

Back-to-back wins against Pliskova! So pleased for her, and against Harmony Tan next is an interesting match up, both ranked outside the top 100 and now one's guaranteed to be in the last 16. Can't believe we have two women through to the third round and neither are Emma  Great to see Liam Broady fight back to win against Schwartzman too.

Yeah Isner is so boring to watch. Shame about Murray given that stat, but I didn't go into the match expecting him to win, nice that he took a set at least. Shame that in typical Heather fashion, she couldn't close it out just before it had to be suspended. Hope she can get through, would be her first 3rd round of a slam since Wimbledon 2017! And all the seeds are out in her section, praying that Heather Watson success era is incoming

Too bad for Serena, that was a nail biter but after last year I'm just pleased she managed to do a full match. I was very impressed with how close Jubb took it, I watched some of this one as I love watching Kyrgios play, you know there's always going to be some drama :D Great to see six Brits through to round 2 in the men's draw (and British men's no.2 Dan Evans not one of them lol), fingers crossed Norrie and Peniston can both get through today and then meet each other in round 3

Was there anything more solid in the reasoning behind the Russian ban other than not wanting a Royal to potentially have to hand the trophy to one of them? I don't agree with the ban, but I don't think taking away ranking points was the right move either, although it does look like Raducanu will sneak into the top 10 due to Pliskova dropping finalist points from last year...
  9. Not played in a few months (since completing the season 6 fame pass I guess) but excited to get back into it with new players :D (if I can ever get into a show again - for me it keeps coming up with '57/60 populating' and the countdown until it starts, then the countdown hits 0 and all that info disappears and I don't get put into a game, the cycle just starts over. Same issue on PS4 and Switch :()

Some great British success in Eastbourne today - Jodie Burrage has taken out Badosa, Katie Boulter building on Birmingham by beating Pliskova and Ryan Peniston came from a set down against Holger Rune (and he beat Ruud at Queen's last week in his ATP singles draw debut!)

Surprised by the negative comments as on one listen I thought it was the best thing I'd heard from her in ages  The hook is really good!

To be fair to Kontaveit, she has won six titles on the tour in the past twelve months, they just happen to be at 500 and 250 level. That and a combination of half of the most recent slams being won by someone who's since retired, one by the current #1 (who's also won every Masters event this year bar one?), and the other by a fluke. It's all very close after Swiatek, I feel like these rises are more due to Sakkari not defending her SF points from last year? FFS someone wrap this woman in bubble wrap

Cilic just absolutely dominated over Medvedev. That's Tsitsipas and Medvedev both gone from the bottom half of the men's draw today.

Sabalenka taking the first set and then only winning one more game, typical Hopefully whoever does make the final manages to still make it an entertaining match. Thought Kovinic put up a good fight yesterday.

Bencic and Kerber out in the third round, they were my next picks for the other finalist once Jabeur and Sakkari both went out. Would be nice to see Azarenka reach her first French Open final after so many appearances but it'll probably be someone random instead.

Sasnovich appears to be a tricky one for Emma. Thank god she's banned from Wimbledon :basil:

Swiatek's name is surely already engraved on the trophy. The bottom half of the draw is so weak, defending champion Krejcikova out in the first round too. Emma fought back from a set and a break down to win her first match though :D

ATP have stripped Wimbledon of ranking points now, will be interesting to see if this prompts Wimbledon to change their decision which by banning Russian players, could in consequence lead to Daniil Medvedev becoming world #1 again :') (don't know whether that would be set in stone as there are other tournaments before then, but that would be 2,000 points that Djokovic can't defend and Medvedev will drop a lot less having only reached the fourth round last year) Edit: WTA have followed suit
  19. At first I read the thread title as 'rate the UK entries' and I was about to declare 10's, 10's, 10's across the board! 2022 Sam Ryder - SPACE MAN (our lord and saviour, we have no choice but to bow down) 2011 Blue - I Can (the juries should've been banished after they ranked this near the bottom in 2011 yet had Italy first purely to keep them around) 2006 Daz Sampson - Teenage Life (this and Daz's two submissions to the Belarussian NF deserve the results that Zdob și Zdub have) 2007 Scooch - Flying The Flag (For You) (they gave EVERYTHING, hearing Malta give this 12 points is where my life peaked) 2009 Jade Ewen - It's My Time (QUEEN, just so classy and the last time we could feel proud to be British before last Saturday) 2014 Molly - Children Of The Universe (oh Molly, where did it go wrong. I can't be the only one who started booking non-refundable hotels in London for May 2015 after first listen of this?!) 2017 Lucie Jones - Never Give Up On You (robbed of a top 10 placing, I get that the song isn't that instantly exciting but the vocal and the staging were amazing) 2002 Jessica Garlick - Come Back 2018 SuRie - Storm (the stage invasion of this is winner worthy) 2016 Joe and Jake - You're Not Alone (was my favourite in the NF that year, yes it's basic but also very catchy) 2021 James Newman - Embers (a tune and I won't hear otherwise) 2003 Jemini - Cry Baby (an iconic track) 2001 Lindsay Dracass - No Dream Impossible 2000 Nikki French - Don't Play That Song Again 2005 Javine - Touch My Fire (bit of a bop but docked a couple of places for being bandwagon-jumping) 2020 James Newman - My Last Breath (losing this to Covid...meh) 2013 Bonnie Tyler - Believe In Me (fine for what it is) 2004 James Fox - Hold On To Our Love (a pleasant enough song, but not one I go back to much at all so have better memories associated with the songs above) 2019 Michael Rice - Bigger Than Us (the 2019 season was fun shouting "BIGGER" all the time and it was fun having a night out with Michael Rice, but it's very basic and you can see why John Lundvik gave it away. No surprise it won the NF, but the other two songs would've both been more interesting options) 2015 Electro Velvet - Still In Love With You (kinda find it fun now but seeing the premiere of this as our entry only a year after Molly....there were no words) 2010 Josh Dubovie - That Sounds Good To Me (just a bit cringe and not in a good way like Daz & Scooch manage to be) 2012 Engelbert Humperdinck - Love Will Set You Free (just a bit boring) 2008 Andy Abraham - Even If (the one entry of ours that would've been worthy of nil points, you know a song's a stinker when it's boring without even being a ballad. Terry Wogan selecting this as a wildcard in the national final is the worst of his crimes) That was tough because basically Andy is the one blemish amongst what are otherwise the best set of entries of any country this millennium (ok maybe it's only down to about Javine that I'd really go back to and play out of choice these days)
  20. Wouldn't the issue with just not counting a set of scores mean that those countries then have less points to give out, and then put themselves at an advantage? The UK maybe wouldn't have been 2nd without a couple of fake 12's from Azerbaijan and Georgia, but the fake jury votes all included Spain and Sweden too, so you never know. We got 8 from the Azerbaijani televote, so I'm willing to take a fake 12 from them. All the Spanish eurofans kicking off though whilst four out of five of their own jury thought that Azerbaijan was the best of the night, sure hun :') I agree that we need more jurors, and I know it wouldn't be perfect as sometimes due to language or style you can tell which country an entry is from, but I'd love them to be able to watch the performances without knowing which country is which and just give them the song titles on their score sheets. Just trying to think of something that could solve the annual Armenia/Azerbaijan ranking each other dead last farce

They had it in 1985, but last time Sweden were hosting I'm sure people were saying Gothenburg don't have a venue suitable for the modern day requirements  Would love to see Sweden continue rotating it around their main cities though!

Something for the EBU to ponder in a situation like this - which flag do you put in the heart???
  23. Yay at the Buzzjack curse being put on Sweden meaning that the UK can still win :P
  24. Knew this producer decided order would be building to a UK win after he only picked up two points from the first three votes x

I don't know if Ukraine could afford it even if the EBU allowed it, would be interesting to see if they went down the runner up or 'country of Ukraine's choosing' route, I expect it would be one of the two rather than a completely open bidding process. Agreed that Manchester and Glasgow would be the most likely contenders for the UK. I'd probably prefer Manchester of the two, but if Sam brings it home (or comes 2nd to Ukraine), I'll be rooting for Sheffield as the closest city to my hometown :heehee: Spain is an interesting one because if they go the Dutch and Italian route of avoiding a city that already has loads of tourism and using it as a chance to promote somewhere else, it would probably be Barcelona that they'd steer away from rather than the capital? (And I doubt Barcelona would have a shot really given it's in Catalonia). God help us if they chose to put it in Gran Canaria!
