🇦🇺🇳🇿 Drag Race Down Under (Australia)
A few of the queens, mainly the NZ ones, have made this season enjoyable enough to watch but the judging has left.....a lot to be desired. I could've accepted one of Kita or Elektra being in the bottom 2 maybe (even though I think they were the 2nd and 3rd best in that challenge) but Karen being safe was an absolute joke. Kita is now the only option of a winner that I'd be happy with. Scarlet I guess would be deserving in terms of her performance during the season but she's just not a nice person and if Art wins after being second out and randomly brought back for no reason at all I will scream

Eurovision Song Contest 2021 · Post Mortem
Only here for it if it is going to be a serious song, and preferably with someone else as the performer. But also it's clear that the BBC just do their own thing so not worried about this actually coming to anything. Aren't BMG also meant to be involved again next year? (I thought it was meant to be a 3-year deal or something, could be wrong and I'm not sure how the 2020 contest being cancelled may affect that)

Paparazzi and Alejandro leaving back-to-back would be a mess when they're the best two songs in the top 10 I have voted for Shallow.

This Is Us!
Does anyone else still watch this? I've caught up with all five seasons via Amazon Prime over the past few months and it's brilliant. But boy, the final couple of minutes of the season 5 finale...I am not looking forward to watching that play out next season, what an awful twist.

Eurovision Song Celebration: Live On Tape
I don't see how Ireland could be any worse as I thought the problem with the Rotterdam performance was how overthought out it was, not having two months to prepare and come up with ideas was probably a good thing for them  Unless the idea was there from the start, I was surprised that the "Bulletproof" outfit was part of North Macedonia's live-on-tape. Poland was rather good. I expected the stage set-ups to be more standardised. Austria and North Macedonia I thought were the only two that could perhaps blend in with Rotterdam and be hardly noticed that they aren't there. I think tonight will be more interesting, I'm excited to see Russia and Ukraine as they were the two biggest staging moments of the year imo, Greece too. Don't imagine Portugal will look anywhere near as good as they filmed straight after FdC.

Eurovision Song Contest 2021 · Post Mortem
I do think 2016 and 2018 particularly strike me as more overperformance on the jury rather than underperformance on the televote. Destiny I think was maybe a bit of both leaning towards underperformance on televote (if anything, after past jury results, I thought Malta could be the jury winner this year) and is a case where I think the running order really hindered her, 2nd on the televote in the semi to 14th in the final is quite a drop, overtake by Lithuania, Russia and Sweden out of countries that were also in semi (Sweden who came 10th in the televote in the semi-final!). With all the ads and promo they put in, I can well believe that odds were inflated too, but I do question why. Destiny has an amazing voice, she had a strong song and was already a recognisible name in the fandom before she was selected, she was someone everyone KNEW would end up in the contest someday due to the Junior Eurovision win...surely payola wasn't needed and she would've been up there in the odds anyway? Perhaps not as the favourite for a long period, but top 3 or top 5. Hopefully Malta learn from this and realise that the days of being able to buy a win are over (a qualification and a 13th place on the other hand...) as it puts far too much pressure on their acts and it's really not nice to see the underwhelming televote scores that they get served up with at the end.

Steps and Eurovision
You'd think Steps were this credible, real music act given some of the responses.. They are not above Eurovision. FFS if they're going to cover songs that took part in the Swedish selection process, they might as well give it a go and perhaps have one of those songwriters pen them an entry!

Steps and Eurovision
I don't think they'd do especially well but I'd be very on board with them doing it anyway, it would be nice to have another act that are actually famous and have chart success in the UK. Even if they don't do well, I don't see what they have to lose from it? They're already seen as 'so Eurovision' in the UK and mentioned every year (along with now the Frock Destroyers) as THE act that should do it, they would surely continue getting top 5 albums and sell-out UK tours afterwards.

Eurovision Song Contest 2021 · Post Mortem
I'm sure the EBU run a much tighter ship these days and the contest has moved on a lot so I'm not too nervous about Italy hosting, I doubt the final will clock in any longer than last night tbh (helps that barring a special invite to Kazakhstan happening, there will be one less performance and one less televote score to reveal :heehee:) I think "Every Minute" may have stood out slightly more and got a better jury score, but I feel like the performance as it was in Melfest suffered a bit in the same way that Benjamin did in looking too much like a music video? Idk, I'm not convinced it was a missed opportunity either. I think The Mamas could've got the best result, they just radiate such joy but who knows if the casual viewer would've felt that. I think what last night showed is that we need a return from Pagan Fury.

Eurovision Song Contest 2021 · Post Mortem
I hope Andorra come through on their promise to return in 2022 but I'm slightly worried given that San Marino underperformed expectaions. I don't think there are any real withdrawal risks, at least I hope not...I've heard that interest has dropped a lot in Romania but ffs, a lot of countries have suffered through much worse NQ streaks than three in a row and it's not like any of those NQs were undeserved! Hoping that this year gives Sweden a bit of a kick, not that 14th is bad in such a strong year and I actually find it impressive that they did better in the televote than the jury, but it's still an end to a six contest top 10 streak and now it's been shown that they can't fully rely on the jury to keep propping them up... I actually didn't mind it so much this year compared to 2019 where the disappointed reactions of Michela and Lake Malawi still haunt me. It seemed like there was a close up reaction of most of the acts no matter what televote score they received and everyone with a low score appeared to take it really well (with the exception of Senhit, her face was a picture), I guess they come to expect it as a possibility. The order of the reveal doesn't bother me too much but I would prefer 30+ minutes to be spent on the televote and 10 minutes on the jury vote rather than the current set-up, but I guess the current way is the easiest for covering up a televote winner that doesn't win overall. Such time dedicated to what 200-ish people think doesn't sit right. The top 4 on the televote all came from the second half but the top 10 of the televote was actually a 50/50 split between first and second half

Eurovision Song Contest 2021 · Grand Final
^ Not sure France would go with Paris now that they've announced they're hosting Junior Eurovision there in December  Think they may go the same way that the Dutch did with Amsterdam in that it already has enough tourism and use it as a way to boost somewhere else perhaps. I'm surprised at how quickly Iceland are being written off by some people (both on here and elsewhere) when they're supposedly the 'lost winners' of 2020 (which I still don't like them being seen as, we didn't get to the rehearsal stage last year and we've seen how much they can change things, Ukraine were not seen as a contender before rehearsals this year)...the song isn't that different and as a package it's basically the same thing? I don't think sympathy votes are much of a thing at Eurovision but if it's a tight race, even an extra 15-20 points could swing it and I don't really see a negative impact to them not performing live in terms of result with how well it's blended together. Kate performed better in the jury than the televote.

Iceland are winning, I'm now convinced (and at peace - sure the song isn't in my top 10, but for me it's preferable to any of Italy, Ukraine or Switzerland). It's the song I can most see doing really strongly on both the jury and the televote, even if France win the jury and SenQUEEN tops the public vote.
