  2. I'm quite surprised at this. The general perception in the UK seems to be that Dutch people have a LOT of respect for their queen, moreso than we do for our own. It seems most bizarre that anyone (even someone down on their luck) would exercise their frustration on the Royal Family. Much sympathy for those affected.

I did too, but I mustered up the restraint not to say anything :P ...until you made me reply...
  4. I'm guessing what Craig's getting at is that he'd rather see (and would, it appears, welcome) a massive natural population cull than one brought about by human choice. I'd agree with him on that point, except for this bizarre statement... As for the bolded part of Scott's post...is there a non-harsh or even a right way of going about curbing over-population? (hope I got people's names right :P )

Oh, the pinned thread has gone, not surprised though. I don't watch any soap religiously (although I have been watching a few early episodes of Prisoner Cell Block H on youtube lately  ) but I did catch Emmerdale last night. Probably won't see it again for another month or two

I've not seen (and have no intention of seeing) the film, so it won't spoil it for me :D
  8. So, the World Health Organization have now raised the alert to phase 5: "Pandemic Imminent". Mildly concerned by that, but I won't be too worried until a significant number of cases are reported in other countries (countries other than Mexico, that is).
  9. Hmmm...I still really like "The Drugs Don't Work" though

  11. If the OCC entered it onto the Official Singles Chart, they must have had cause to consider it a single - and that's where the problem occurs. If it wasn't a single, it should not have been included in the Official Singles Chart. Either the OCC need to rename the Official Singles Chart or stop non-singles from entering it. They seem to have created a contradiction...as gooddelta said... You can sure as hell bet that if Girls Aloud's weeks on the Official Singles Chart tally ends at something akin to 500weeks, the fans will gladly include the weeks for St Trinian's to meet that landmark, yet the majority steadfastly deny it's peak position
  12. Oh, this is going to be argued to near death again, is it? Yes, there's no denying that the St Trinian's theme charted on the OCC's Official Singles Chart. If Girls Aloud or their management had any beef over it's inclusion in the Official Singles Chart, why did they not ask for it to be omitted? Why did OCC include it in the Official Singles Chart if it didn't meet the required criteria? Unless the OCC backtrack and re-issue the affected charts minus such songs, it cannot be claimed otherwise.
  13. I work in bio-sciences and if I were given a government recommendation (we haven't reached this stage yet and what has happened so far doesn't seem likely to be a decimation of the human populace!) to wear a face mask - I'd sure as hell follow it. I don't wish to be a panic-monger as much as the press might like to be, but as has been stated previously in this thread, it's only a matter of time before a virus mutates to the extent that it will have a major effect.

Nice choices. Falling Into You is also my favourite Celine album by quite a margin. I bought the Think Twice single 6 weeks after it's release, when it had climbed to number 22 in the chart. It's UK chart run was (53-42-52-30-28-22-20-9-8-5-6-4-2-2-2-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-3-4-12-17-22-34-51-67-70) actually taking 16 weeks to reach the top of the chart. Very impressive record :D
  15. Does that mean we'll be getting a one-off single linked to the film before Linkin Park's own album? And maybe putting back it's release? :(

  17. I think Definitely Maybe and What's The Story... are such different albums that I'd place them on a par credibility-wise. Whilst Definitely Maybe had an almost consistent quality of very good tracks, What's The Story... had a few classic anthems (Champagne Supernova, She's Electric, Don't Look Back In Anger) amongst a mesh of less inspiring material. Since then, undeniably, the overall quality from Oasis has slipped with a few rare gems surfacing from a quagmire of mediocrity (D'You Know What I Mean, Little By Little, Songbird, The Importance Of Being Idle). Personally, I think a lot of this can be attributed to Noel's (possibly mistaken) loyalty to his brother - which, if certain news stories are to be believed, may be swiftly coming to an end. I'm a little concerned, however, that if Noel takes that route, he may slide towards the direction of the dad-rock persuasion that I feel he appears to be fascinated by. I'm glad you included Rattle And Hum in your comment, BA - most people seem to dismiss U2 after The Joshua Tree, but I like RnH too.
  18. I wouldn't say I hate Dizzee - I was impressed by Fix Up Look Sharp. Dance Wiv Me was more like chav-heaven; music lovers' hell. Bonkers grew on me a bit (it's certainly better than Dance Wiv Me) but now it's nothing more than a gimmicky novelty track which has been marketed badly.
