A quick Google of the lyrics shows that it's "Maybe Tomorrow" by Terry Bush. It was the theme for The Littlest Hobo. It wasn't a chart hit; at least not in the UK.
  2. Heard it three times on the radio this morning - twice on XFM and once on Radio 1. It was always going to be difficult to come up with something to top the smash appearance of American Idiot. Know Your Enemy is a good single, but nothing in comparison to American Idiot. Still hopeful for a great album in 21st Century Breakdown :D

Nope, as I said, that was the first time I'd heard it. I'll seek out the longer version tonight - I can't see it changing my mind, but you never know!

Finally heard the single on Radio 2 today for the first time. The most insipid, dull, bland and instantly forgettable track that they've done to date. No point in "predicting" at this stage, but it seems as if the girls need to employ some much better songwriters/producers for their next album.
  5. Well, it's Magic, so it's basically just a list of the 90's songs they'd playlist. I mean, if Kerrang did a similar thing, you wouldn't find any Mariah Carey in their list!

I spoke to a friend who's a bit of a TV addict about it. He said he thought it was from a health food or get healthy ad - so I Google'd it - it's for something called Berocca, which is apparently a company that sell vitamin supplements.

Well, the song is "Living On The Ceiling" by Blancmange. I have no idea what the ad would be - I try to avoid them as much as possible :P
  8. That's an odd time. Right at the start of Sara Cox's show? I thought it would have been the kind of single to be premiered on Zane's show. Maybe if it is on Sara's show, they just mean that it'll be played some time during it... ie. 12.40 - right near the end. Meh, whichever, I'll be listening out for it.
  9. Madonna's "Ray Of Light" is the stand out one for me. Just a week after buying it, I gave it away to a friend who wanted it. I felt pretty much the same about Manic Street Preacher's "This Is My Truth, Tell Me Yours", at first. After a few listens, though, I changed my mind about that one and I like it now.
  10. :o I love Digsy's Diner Maybe deemed an "un-cool" album choice, but I really like Melanie C's Northern Star album...with the exception of the track If That Were Me. Apart from the fact that it isn't a very good song, it also contains one of my most hated lyrics ever: "I couldn't live without my phone, but you don't even have a home." (It was a single for a homeless charity).

It would almost have been gone and out of the way by now, had Parky not have felt the need to say anything. Since then, it's been him "Jade-bashing", her supporters "Parky-bashing" and today it's Parky blasting the "Parky-bashers". He's just needlessly added to the circus. I said previously that I personally didn't think much of Jade - I've always had similar feelings toward Parkinson - I don't get why he's seen as a "respected media figure". The massive return of his chat show was nothing more than embarrassing, cringeworthy viewing which, to me, simply highlighted his overlooked ineptitude.
  15. The only track I know of the Tourists is their cover of I Only Want To Be With You. I liked everything that the Eurythmics did, although not so keen on 17 Again and I like most of Annie's solo material. I don't think much of her latest odd offering of the cover of Ash's Shining Light - I like the original though.
  16. Last week's album multichart hasn't yet been posted, so the topic was closed until it's done. When it is, you'll be able to post your album chart in the new thread that's created. And, if you want to post your album chart here, there's no reason why you can't anyway, although some might appreciate that if you already have a thread for your own singles chart, that you just include your albums there. It just slows down the turnover of threads, so some people's don't disappear too quickly from the front page. So, in short, you've not done anything wrong - just keep an eye out for the new album multichart thread being posted, then you can add yours. I've got mine ready and poised to add too :D
  17. Could never quite get my head around that one - a bit of thoughtful geniusnous or...? Most of the time I tend toward the latter :P And though I've been resisting it for a while, I'm gonna have to say now a big :puke2: to ATB - 9pm Til I Come...almost as bad as Fragma with Toca's Miracle and Wamdue Project's King Of My Castle. I think those were responsible for the beginning of the end for the dominance of dance music.

I used www.chartstats.com - starting with the first chart of each year and then just skipping a month at a time. Most well-known tracks spend at least 4 weeks on chart, so you're not likely to miss any/many.

Heh - and I was going to make a reference as to how many would qualify for a MOBO and why the MOBOs aren't considered racist when there isn't a MOWO awards ceremony. Personally, I have no problem with there being a MOBO ceremony, but I love the way it makes a mockery of Political Correctness.
  22. I agree - Daniel sounds quite similar to Fleetwood Mac's Rhiannon to me, and I love that track too.

No. This is the whole point that you seem to consistently miss. There was a morbid over-exposure via the media of the whole story, no-one denies that. However, by and large the public appear to have been well and truly fed up with having the story "shoved down their throats". I'll bet the viewing figures for her funeral were mediocre at best. Meanwhile, "the BBC viewing figures were headed by the tribute to Wendy Richard". I have no idea where Mr Self imagines that any "public fascination" has occurred and in relation to their popularity at the time, I believe the coverage given to the deaths of Wendy Richard and Natasha Richardson was fitting.

Wow - ROFL - the idiot that invented that article has a MAJOR problem with his own mortality. My personal belief is that we're nothing more than a bunch of chemicals and when we die, that's it...nothing. Sad to admit the reality, but it is what it is. Sure, if you have an idea of your impending doom, you can make your decisions on how best to make it easier/more bearable for those left behind. Jade did what she thought was best in the circumstances. No amount of momentos or legacy are going to influence the lives of those who have outlived her, but in our capitalist society, she's done about as much for them as she can - kudos to her for that! Moreover, I have to laugh at the opening line of that article: "The public’s grotesque fascination with the reality TV star’s death was a botched catharsis of an inability to deal with its own mortality." Nobody that I know of had any "fascination" grotesque or otherwise regarding Jade's death. It was unfortunate, sad even, but everyone that I know, without exception, felt that the media coverage was extreme, in fact disturbing. People understood that Jade was just out for money for her family - does anyone have any evidence that what occurred actually sold any more papers or resulted in any extra viewers to any related programmes? This is all far more of a circus than the matter itself.
