Because they’re only tracking the post 94 sales, I think that means that if something already has a 2x platinum certification it will only go to 3x platinum on having 1.8 million of post 94 sales. So we don’t get to see those huge old hits hitting the lower download and streaming milestones.

  11. “Gravel Pit” is great and easily the best in this lacklustre bunch!
  12. He’s had it pretty bad in most of these polls and Usher gets the boot again. This was his 3rd straight Top 5 hit following his ‘00s comeback, reaching #5 in October 2001. It was the middle of 3 consecutive singles with “U” as the first word. 6th: Usher - U Got It Bad 9/30 votes (30%) 7th: Jay Sean - Ride It 11/31 votes (35%) 8th: McFly - The Heart Never Lies 10/31 votes (32%) 9th: Emma Bunton - Downtown 12/31 votes (39%) 10th: JoJo featuring Bow Wow - Baby It’s You 9/33 votes (27%)
  13. Not surprised she’s never felt like this before as she never had to suffer such an early exit with her badmates. Despite having been a key songwriter in All Saints this was her only solo Top 40, reaching #8 in January 2004. It does mean all of the All Saints members had at least one Top 10 outside the band. 9th: Shaznay Lewis - Never Felt Like This Before 7/28 votes (25%) 10th: True Steppers featuring Dane Bowers - Buggin’ 14/34 votes (41%)
  14. Surprised to have lasted until na na na is Akon. This was 1 of his 12 Top 10 hits, entering in October 2008 and taking 9 weeks to peak at #6. There was a subsequent lawsuit because the song had taken elements from “Remember” by Summer Love. 3rd: Akon - Right Now (Na Na Na) 16/29 votes (55%) 4th: Lemar - 50/50 14/29 votes (48%) 5th: Destiny’s Child - Emotion 10/30 votes (33%) 6th: Mariah Carey - Get Your Number / Shake It Off 9/30 votes (30%) 7th: Cast Of High School Musical - Breaking Free 8/31 votes (26%) 8th: George Michael - Freeek! 11/32 votes (34%) 9th: Geraldine - The Winner’s Song 13/30 votes (43%) 10th: Peter Andre - Insania 13/33 (39%)
  15. Ordinary 5 Manchild 4 So I can’t get too invested in this battle. That said I wouldn’t put “I Believe” or “(Everything I Do) I Do It For You)” above 5 either so I won’t be mad if Alex surpasses those - he might as well achieve something interesting if he returns and avoids ACR.

Will be interesting to see if they’re in ChartsPlus, which usually comes out late tonight.
  17. Always nice to get a fresh winner - very well done Dan! And great job Bray. Thanks for the couple of votes for poor Bobby and Yo Yo - I guess I went way too far out of the room with this one!

  21. Lemar has been eliminated without having chance to ask the audience or phone a friend. This reached #5 in November 2003 and was the 2nd of 7 Top 10 hits for the “Fame Academy” star. His hits continued as late as 2010, so he was by far the biggest mainstream success story to come out of the show. 4th: Lemar - 50/50 14/29 votes (48%) 5th: Destiny’s Child - Emotion 10/30 votes (33%) 6th: Mariah Carey - Get Your Number / Shake It Off 9/30 votes (30%) 7th: Cast Of High School Musical - Breaking Free 8/31 votes (26%) 8th: George Michael - Freeek! 11/32 votes (34%) 9th: Geraldine - The Winner’s Song 13/30 votes (43%) 10th: Peter Andre - Insania 13/33 (39%)
  22. Riding the wave of elimination is Jay Sean. This was only his 5th highest peakig hit, reaching #11 in January 2008 but having a good chart run. Regard would go on to reach #2 with a cover in 2019. 7th: Jay Sean - Ride It 11/31 votes (35%) 8th: McFly - The Heart Never Lies 10/31 votes (32%) 9th: Emma Bunton - Downtown 12/31 votes (39%) 10th: JoJo featuring Bow Wow - Baby It’s You 9/33 votes (27%)
  23. Buggin’ us no more are the True Steppers. This was the garage duo’s debut hit featuring Dane Bowers formerly of 911. It reached #6 in April 2000, but of course their biggest hit would come later in the year with Victoria Beckham. 10th: True Steppers featuring Dane Bowers - Buggin’ 14/34 votes (41%)
  24. I guess we don’t know yet whether “Shake It To The Max” is silver. It will need to be there or very close to enter. “Arm’s Length” is gone I think, meaning there’s a small chance “Prada” could survive. They might both be out though.
  25. Spoiler I love Caroline and Tom. He’s so sweet, and she’s the quintessential posh British housewife with a surprising killer instinct. Delighted they won, but I do like all the others a lot too. But yes they totally must encourage (if not compel) whoever’s leading to pull back and whoever’s trailing to push forward to make it as exciting as possible. Which is fine really - it’s more fun when they’re all getting in at roughly the same time. When a pair is leading by miles they always say “we need to take some time out and recharge”, or they do a job that waylays them for a day and only makes them like £10. I reckon they also encourage the teams to take different routes so they can get more variety of scenery and cities in. It’s all good: it’s still a great show.
