  2. 9Christina Aguilera - BeautifulScore: 8/10 08/03/2003 Christina Aguilera Beautiful 1 Chart run: {1}-1-5-13-14-15-17-28-45-62->10 This was second #1 from the “Stripped” album after “Dirrrty” made it at the end of the previous year. It could hardly be more different from its raunchy predecessor; an introspective ballad about inner beauty. The song had been intended for Pink, but after the writer, Linda Perry, heard Christina demo-ing it she gave it to her instead. The video represented various minority groups and self image issues. Christina does ballads like this very well; “Hurt” and “The Voice Within” being other examples. She absolutely sells this for all it’s worth and it’s a lovely track.
  3. A seeerious Top 5. I’d certainly swap out “Country House” for “Gansta’s Paradise” but orherwise I approve. I’ve also always loved “Think Twice” - it was very uncool to like it in my class at school but that didn’t stop me.
  4. 10Sugababes - Hole In The HeadScore: 8/10 25/10/2003 Sugababes Hole In The Head Peak: 1 Chart run: {1}-5-6-8-19-25-39-42-58-70-72-69-69->13 The trio of Keisha, Heidi and Mutya had reached a whole new level the previous year with the “Angel With Dirty Faces” album, and it wasn’t too surprising that the lead from the next album “Three” gave them another chart topper. The album went on to yield 3 more Top 10 hits. The track was produced by Xenomania who were involved with most of Girls Aloud’s output. It’s a sassy and vibrant pop song that’s right up with their best material. Heidi’s great but it was lovely to see the original trio reuniting and getting the name back. The clip above is from the original 3 members performing “Hole In The Head” on “Later With Jools Holland” this year, and it sounded as good as ever.
  5. Yes think both Saja Boys tracks should go platinum.
  6. 1 Junior Senior - Move Your Feet I can’t think of a more joyous record released this century, or a greater song and video combination. Thank you for indulging my side quests - back to the main countdown next!
  7. I love the fact that all this Top 3 climbed to their peak, which was still very rare in 2003 and sometimes was the mark of a song being much better than the market had expected. 3 Jamelia - Superstar What a way to resurrect a career. 2 50 Cent - In Da Club One of the most infectious and cleverest songs of its kind ever.
  8. Easily - I think double platinum and top 5 at least.
  9. 5 Richard x Vs Liberty X - Being Nobody This is how to do a cover - strong production 4 Christina Aguilera - Fighter What a powerhouse of a track.
  10. The good: 10 Stereophonics - Maybe Tomorrow 9 Busted - Sleeping With The Light On 8 Alex Parks - Maybe That's What It Takes 7 Oasis - Songbird 6 Jurgen Vries Featuring CMC - The Opera Song (Brave New World)
  11. “Ggangsta’s Paradise” is the best song to appear by far. “Cotton Eye Joe” is fun and “Boombastic” has a decent rhythm I guess.
  12. Yes please to a Kate Rate ❤️
  13. The pretty good: 15 Girls Aloud - Life Got Cold 14 Robbie Williams - Something Beautiful 13 Sean Paul - Like Glue 12 Wayne Wonder - No Letting Go 11 Busta Rhymes And Mariah Carey Featuring The Flipmode Squad - I Know What You Want
  14. It’s my first CB and I’ve really enjoyed it! Have just about chosen my Top 10 but need to order them. I’m very confident in the weirdness of my track but less confident anyone will vote for it. 😅
  15. The OK: 20 Delta Goodrem - Born To Try 19 Atomic Kitten - If You Come To Me 18 Gareth Gates - Sunshine 17 Pink Featuring William Orbit - Feel Good Time 16 David Sneddon - Don't Let Go
  16. The poor #3s: 25 The Cheeky Girls - Hooray Hooray (It's A Cheeky Holiday) 24 Westlife - Tonight / Miss You Nights 23 Ronan Keating - The Long Goodbye 22 The Cheeky Girls - Take Your Shoes Off 21 Blazin' Squad - We Just Be Dreamin'
  17. Tears For Fears overtook Tate the week before last even while she was getting her boost so I’m sure it will be her dropping out (assuming Tom has done enough to pass her).
  18. 1 Dido - White Flag I loved the “No Angel” album but it didn’t have a single that stood out as her signature song - in fact my favourite track is the album track “Take My Hand” which won Bop Idol. But this lead from “Life For Rent” has everything and is definitely peak Dido. And just because the list includes a few of my favourite hits of the year I’m going to rank the #3s too tomorrow!
  19. 3 Electric Six - Danger! High Voltage I love this - it’s up with the very quirkiest Top 3 hits. 2 Justin Timberlake - Cry Me A River His first 3 hits all reached #2 and were all brilliant, but this was the very best.
  20. Olivia should be able to get there next week even if “Golden” has dodged ACR.
  21. I’m not sure if this falsetto style from Lewis is better or even worse than his usual strained chest voice. 🫠
  22. Nice to have 2 new entries in the Top 5 even if one is far more enjoyable than the other. Well done RAYE!
  23. Nice to have 2 new entries in the Top 5 even if one is far more enjoyable than the other. Well done RAYE!
  24. 5 Mis-Teeq - Scandalous Easily the best thing they did in my view. 4 Darkness - I Believe In A Thing Called Love They went off the boil quickly after seeming like they were going to be megastars. This remains a great song.
  25. Ooh “Escapsim” will forever be brilliant. 🥰
