2025 singles year to date estimates
Note I have a 6k gap between #86 and #88 and I’ve dumped it in the middle of that for now, so it could be adjusted later.

I still think “Another Love” might be in pole position to replace “Who” next week. “Indigo” and “Red Wine Supernova” are on their way out but may scrape another week.

RATE: Buzzjack's Ultimate Platinum Non-Top 40 Single: Round 1
Oh I love 2 of those wildcards (though I tactically left them out in this round). Shame I didn’t give quite enough to “You Should See Me In A Crown” and “505” though!

Round 5: Year End Survivor #119
Not the Nessaja but very naughty boys are Scooter. After their massive success with “The Logical Song”, this follow up hit reached #4 in September 2002. The track is a cover of a number from 1983 German musical about a green character called “Tabaluga”. 7th: Scooter - Nessaja 9/35 votes (26%) 8th: Jamelia - Something About You 8/27 votes (30%) 9th: Shaznay Lewis - Never Felt Like This Before 7/28 votes (25%) 10th: True Steppers featuring Dane Bowers - Buggin’ 14/34 votes (41%)

Round 8: Year End Survivor #118
Year moving from Britney to Britney, though this one is miles better.
-
Round 2: Year End Survivor #120
I went for Mariah this time as it’s midsummer and she doesn’t need to be here again haha.
-
Round 8: Year End Survivor #118
We’re finally doing something about the double Britney in this round. This was the second of two singles from her 2004 greatest hits collection after “My Prerogative”. It was her 5th Top 10 hit within 18 months so a successful period for her, though after this there would be a 2.5 year hiatus. 4th: Britney Spears - Do Somethin’ 22/31 votes (70%) 5th: Tom Jones & Stereophonics - Mama Told Me Not To Come 12/30 votes (40%) 6th: Usher - U Got It Bad 9/30 votes (30%) 7th: Jay Sean - Ride It 11/31 votes (35%) 8th: McFly - The Heart Never Lies 10/31 votes (32%) 9th: Emma Bunton - Downtown 12/31 votes (39%) 10th: JoJo featuring Bow Wow - Baby It’s You 9/33 votes (27%)

Round 4: Year End Survivor #119
A tie! 😮
-
Round 2: Year End Survivor #120
No stranger to the 10th spot, Fat Joe has managed to hold J-Lo down with him this time. This was the follow up to the chart topping “Get Right” and gave J-Lo her 15th Top 20 hit, reaching #6 in May 2005. However in the USA it only reached #64 and was considered a commercial failure. 10th: Jennifer Lopez featuring Fat Joe - Hold You Down 12/32 votes (38%)

Maybe I should have said it’s highly likely something with more than 100 million streams will be vetoed!

gooddelta ranks the UK No.1s of 2000
Left Eye really makes “Never Be The Same Again”, what a talent. “Black Coffee” is such a wonderful piece of writing and production. I think there is certainly a case to be made for it being at least as good as “Pure Shores”, but I have too much nostalgia surrounding the latter. I generally liked The Corrs a lot more at the time but “Breathless” is still a strong piece of pop.

“Oops…” is one of only a handful of Britney songs that I still really love. The structure is nothing inventive but it manages to be dramatic and playful. Surprised at the Mel C order but that’s a fair position.

“The Real Slim Shady” I bought and still love: the flow of it is fantastic. Poor Sonique: I reckon she deserves Top 5. That’s a truly magical dance pop record. It’s a stellar Top 10 though - “Breathless” is the weakest but I am fond of even that.

“7 Days” is still Craig’s best and I bought the single. The chorus is slightly gimmicky yet works, but it’s the verses I really love. “Can’t Fight The Moonlight” is great and has grown on me over time: that dramatic intro is really special.

Bop Idol 4 - Confirmations - Deadline Sunday 29 June, 23:59
A reminder that it’s a retro contest so the track must be pre 2020 - I’ve had 2 2025 songs put forward already. 😊
