Gone for Gwen this time - Hollaback Girl is great but this cover really isn’t.

Good final but going for The Killers - I actually didn’t love it at the time but it’s grown hugely (unlike others like Human that I loved at the time)

Afraid to Feel!

Thinking it’s those who’ve given very different scores to the Too 3 who’ll make the difference rather than those who’ve either given very little to all or 20+ to all.

Brilliant result for A Design For Life and very well deserved - my 15 was a bit mean for it really.

 

I’m now really invested in the Top 3 as I’ve given them 30, 10 and 0!

I really hope we’re flushing the Car Wash out this time.

Billie now - really good solid pop song but not special like the other 2.

Two simple but very special dance tracks at 5 and 6. I gave them 21 and 22 and I’ve only given more to one of the Top 4.

 

I’m thinking it could be a Common People / Born Slippy showdown but might be utterly wrong.

How is Car Wash surviving over these original songs?

This would absolutely have been my personal Top 3.

 

I’m voting for Stay Another Day now - I do love it but I guess the Christmas time overplay just means I’d rather hear the other 2 these days.

Only 1 of the Top 8 was in my Top 8 and that’s my 30! Don’t think that’s a contender to win but Top 5 for it would be fab.

 

By the way we played 7 of the Top 8 as runner up bonus tracks in our #1 listening sessions. Bittersweet Symphony was the only one we didn’t; that was nominated but we skipped over it as it’s played so often. 4 of them we played in the same 95/96 session - we were so spoiled for choice that week but we clearly chose well!

I’d take the odds on Wham! rather than Mariah - they’re already almost ahead of her.

I can’t imagine Wonderwall sung by Noel though - it needs that gritty vocal to convey the slightly scornful ambivalence in the lyrics. I can’t imagine Liam doing DLBIA either as that needs a much smoother tone, particularly for the anthemic chorus. But maybe I’m just conditioned by how I know them.

Aww overplay must have counted against Wonderwall a bit then as Don’t Look Back In Anger made 2nd in the #1s rate. It remains a work of genius.

This is the best selection for many “years” for me!
