  2. I was going to write a long post about the impossibility of the OCC applying lifetime streaming caps in one of the threads yesterday, but thought better of it. Basically I don't think they receive to data to do that and can't get it without a lot of movement from the streaming companies, and as the above confirms, they certainly can't tell which streams are from playlists.

I know that’s your view, but I’m still not convinced lifetime streaming caps would be difficult if daily ones are easy… but of course I know nothing about the process really.

Hi all. Ed (chartjack2) and I are very much looking forward to running a special listening session from 9:30 to 12:30 this Sunday morning celebrating #1s by LGBT artists!

We have put together a playlist involving artists from the full 70 year lifetime of the charts, from Johnnie Ray to Lil Nas X. Instead of playing them chronologically we will be passing back and forth through the ages, so it should be an interesting mix.

As usual feel free to join for as much or as little of the session as you like, and contribute to the live chat if you wish. There will be a slot for requests at the end of the session.

    Hope to see you there!
  4. Do they have the capability to report these capped streams? If so, that's probably the best suggestion I've heard so far and what they should have done from the start.

I don’t know, but I’m thinking if they can easily report a daily cap of 10 why would a lifetime cap be difficult? But I could be wrong.

  5. I’ve made both these suggestions before but:

1 My more moderate tweak to ACR is to abandon the 3 consecutive decline rule which obviously isn’t working when streaming fluctuates with the weather and other factors. Instead anything that drops below (say) 85% of its peak streams is ACRed. Anything that climbs back above (say) 95% of its peak streams is auto-reset. No 3 year rule.

2 The more radical solution is to dramatically reducing the number of streams that make a sale (say to 25) and cap each user at this number so once they have “bought” the song no more plays will count. Remove the daily cap of 10 per user.

  6. O Superman is Art with a capital A, but have it on the radio every day for weeks and weeks and "smoking or non-smoking" (among many memorable highights) can get on my nerves - but then again I have a low tolerance for repeat plays. Even Bohemian Rhapsody, once upon a time one of my all-time faves, reached saturation point 20 years ago and I'm still sick of hearing it  I'd rather hear O Superman these days as it never gets played!

Very true about saturation PCF - actually even the songs I’ve given 30 and 29 in this I’m bored of hearing to some extent! Much more likely to give O Superman another listen.
