  1. Close battle!
  2. “Who” managed to fall all the way below “Busy Woman” this week suggesting its streams (subject to the bots not coming back) are extremely poor. I’m not sure about “Hometown Glory” making it at all given that it’s already down to 10k per week.
  3. I went for Eric Prydz but all 3 are good.

Went for Garbage, with Sugababes 2nd and Calum Hood 3rd.
  8. Hard to order this group as there are plenty of classics and very little that isn’t enjoyable. At the top I’ve put this glorious double A side from Paul Oakenfold with 2 marvellous and very different tracks, and my very favourite No Doubt song. 9 Paul Oakenfold Southern Sun/Ready Steady Go "Ready Steady Go" could easily be a Chemical Brothers track while "Southern Sun" is a wonderful piece of ethereal trance 9 No Doubt Hella Good They won't make the Top 10 again despite some great singles: this has wonderful gritty production and retro style melodies 8 Elvis Vs JXL A Little Less Conversation 929th #1: this had been a very unremarkable Elvis track but the remix really brings it to life and up to date for new listeners 8 Jimmy Eat World Sweetness Another marvellous incredibly catchy hit for them: the opening "If you're listening (whoa oh-oh-oh-oh)" has great power 8 Chad Kroeger Featuring Josey Scott Hero Only hit for Josey with the Nickelback frontman for the "Spiderman" film: this is a surprisingly excellent and powerful song 7 Sophie Ellis-Bextor Get Over You/Move This Mountain "Get Over You" is catchy but "Move This Mountain" is the star track here: it's unique and has a really classy presence to it 7 Kylie Minogue Love At First Sight Her 3rd Top 3 of this incredibly successful campaign for her: this is a sweet, uplifting track with a light sparkly feel to it 7 Papa Roach She Loves Me Not Their 3rd and last Top 40: this doesn't have the raw energy of "Last Resort" but it's a very good song in a more subtle way 6 Layo And Bushwacka! Love Story 1st hit for this UK DJ duo that will be back in a different form: this is enjoyable in its own right with the wailing vocals 6 Paffendorf Be Cool Only Top 40 for this German DJ group: it's a very effective trance track with a strong melody, without being remarkable 6 Moony Dove (I'll Be Loving You) The singer from DB Boulevard's "Point Of View" with her only solo Top 40: she has a wonderful voice and it's a nice track 5 Puddle Of Mudd Blurry Their only Top 10 hit and it is a strong, emotive, radio friendly and tuneful rock song but somehow is missing something 5 Badly Drawn Boy Something To Talk About Very much ties in with the "About A Boy" film, and nothing spectacular but still a nice wistful track with warm production 5 Peaches Set It Off 1st hit for this Canadian electro punk singer with a similar style track to "Hella Good", though I find it a little minimalistic 4 Scooter The Logical Song Biggest hit for this German techno band covering a 1979 #7 hit: the track does work well but there isn't that much to it 4 Spunge Jump On Demand Only Top 40 for this group described as a ska punk band that sound quite like Madness: the vocals are raw but it's not bad 4 Agnelli And Nelson Everyday (Alex Gold 2002 Mixes) Last Top 40 for the DJ duo and a remix of a 1999 hit that makes it more explicitly a club track, but doesn't add that much 3 The Libertines What A Waster 1st hit for them and you can hear the beginnings of how they will sound on their bigger hits but this one is a bit of a mess 3 Starchaser Love Will Set You Free (Jambe Myth) Only hit for this DJ act who seems to be trying to emulate Stardust, but the track is a little fomulaic and doesn't quite hit 2 Ludacris Rollout (My Business) This has quite similar sounding production to the excellent "What's Your Fantasy" but manages to just be a bit of a racket 2002 Week 26: #1355 29/06/2002 Oasis Stop Crying Your Heart Out 2 {2}-4-13-23-28-39-48-56-62-75-71R(376)-72R(33)-50R(14)-71R(157)->14 #1356 29/06/2002 Christina Milian When You Look At Me 3 {3}-6-7-9-11-19-28-34-44-60->10 #1357 29/06/2002 Nelly Hot In Herre 4 {4}-5-8-7-8-7-10-12-20-23-29-32-39-51-58->15 #1358 29/06/2002 Mis-Teeq Roll On/This Is How We Do It 7 {7}-12-19-28-36-51-73->7 #1359 29/06/2002 Muse Dead Star/In Your World 13 {13}-30-54->3 #1360 29/06/2002 Brandy Full Moon 15 {15}-19-27-36-45-54-50-55-72->9 #1361 29/06/2002 Basement Jaxx Get Me Off 22 {22}-34-55->3 #1362 29/06/2002 Andy Williams/Denise Van Outen Can't Take My Eyes Off You 23 {23}-32-49-73->4 #1363 29/06/2002 The Vines Get Free 24 {24}-47-69->3 #1364 29/06/2002 Sum 41 It's What We're All About 32 {32}-37-51->3 #1365 29/06/2002 Counting Crows American Girls 33 {33}-59->2 #1366 29/06/2002 DJ Tiesto Featuring Suzanne Palmer 643 (Love's On Fire) 36 {36}-57->2 #1367 29/06/2002 Athlete You Got The Style 37 {37}-65->2 29/06/2002 Jaheim Just In Case {2002} 38 {38}-43-60->3
  9. Best: Say So Save Your Tears Heat Waves We Don’t Talk About Bruno Circles (Commiserations Willow, Blinding Lights, Industry Baby) Worst: Savage Love Trollz Permission To Dance
  10. DtMF Snooze Million Dollar Baby Happy to give “Wildflower” another vote for low Top 10s - not sure how many picks are allowed. Hoping to join for the 2nd half at least. x
  11. Close between J-Lo and Groove Armada but I went for the latter. It’s good though.
  12. Think we should rob them… of a final 4 spot. “Lifestyles…” was named after an American TV Series and was the lead from Good Charlotte’s 2nd album. It had an unusual 13-20-8 run in February 2003.
  13. 8th: Bob Sinclar featuring Gary ‘Nesta’ Pine - Love Generation 10/29 votes (34%) 9th: Jamelia - See It In A Boy’s Eyes 11/33 votes (33%) 10th: Kelly Clarkson - Because Of You 8/32 votes (25%)
  14. Going for “Tell Me” - it’s quite dull and the production sounds like “Candy Shop” recycled. ATB not far behind though.
  15. 1 Amazons 2 Arcade Fire 3 Lana
  16. I just tried to enjoy it on Spotify, but sadly it was still awful. 😅
  17. It’s World Cup season and this particular week definitely bore the brunt of it. I think this might be the lowest scoring batch since I started doing these, though it’s partly saved by a couple of good dance hits. 8 Orbital Rest And Play EP Just a 2 track EP with "Frenetic", a lovely track, and a new mix of the wonderful "Chime": all in all a well spent 15 minutes 7 Ferry Corsten Punk 1st hit for this Dutch DJ under his own name rather than System F, and a really enjoyable driving instrumental trance track 6 Busta Rhymes/P Diddy/Pharrell Pass The Courvoisier - Part II 1st credited Pharrell appearance on quite an interesting track: the "pass the Courvoisier" chant has a ritualistic feel to it 5 Bell And Spurling Goldenballs (Mr Beckham To You) Their 2nd and last hit: strong vocals and really quite a nice song; my favourite of the shower of football tracks here anyway 5 Will Young Light My Fire 928th #1: this is based on the José Feliciano rather than The Doors version and it's nothing new but Will still sounds great 4 Dario G Carnaval 2002 I do think the original of this is effective, but this seems to be a lazy remake: I can't detect any interesting new elements 3 Ant And Dec We're On The Ball Their last and biggest new hit and rather naff but not bad for a football track: I do enjoy the brass riff and it's quite catchy 2 Reel You Take Me Away 2nd and last Top 40 for the Irish group: it has some quite nice folky instrumental elements but it's a terribly formulaic song 2 Ozzy Osbourne Dreamer/Gets Me Through His last solo Top 40: "Dreamer" is his dreadful attempt at "Imagine"; the other track is better but the vocals are not nice 1 The England Boys Go England "Go Ingerland!" to the tune of "Going Underground" doesn't even scan, and the singing is extremely raucous and ropey 1 DJ Otzi Hey Baby (Unofficial World Cup Remix) His last hit, and was already a rather obnoxious cover has been made even more grizzly by being turned into a football song 2002 Weeks 24 and 25: #1335 15/06/2002 Paffendorf Be Cool 7 {7}-12-21-23-31-48-71->7 #1336 15/06/2002 Puddle Of Mudd Blurry 8 {8}-13-18-22-30-41-53-66-68->9 #1337 15/06/2002 Moony Dove (I'll Be Loving You) 9 {9}-18-25-31-43-64-70-68->8 #1338 15/06/2002 No Doubt Hella Good 12 {12}-23-31-35-42-54-65->7 15/06/2002 Baddiel And Skinner And The Lightning Seeds Three Lions {2002} 16 {16}-19-27-56-65-74R(2)->6 #1339 15/06/2002 Agnelli And Nelson Everyday (Alex Gold 2002 Mixes) 33 {33}-49->2 #1340 15/06/2002 Peaches Set It Off 36 {36}-56->2 #1341 15/06/2002 The Libertines What A Waster 37 {37}-51->2 #1342 15/06/2002 Jimmy Eat World Sweetness 38 {38}-62->2 #1343 15/06/2002 Spunge Jump On Demand 39 {39}-69->2 #1344 22/06/2002 Elvis Vs JXL A Little Less Conversation 1 {1}-1-1-1-3-6-11-21-30-32-45-60->12 #1345 22/06/2002 Kylie Minogue Love At First Sight 2 {2}-8-11-21-33-40-46-44-51-46-52-74->12 #1346 22/06/2002 Sophie Ellis-Bextor Get Over You/Move This Mountain 3 {3}-11-13-18-24-31-43-62-61-61-65-50-59->13 #1347 22/06/2002 Chad Kroeger Featuring Josey Scott Hero 4 {4}-6-7-9-11-13-15-19-24-29-37-44-58-73->14 #1348 22/06/2002 Scooter The Logical Song 2 7-5-{2}-4-2-2-4-8-10-18-21-27-33-48-73->15 #1349 22/06/2002 Papa Roach She Loves Me Not 14 {14}-29-40-52-59-56-53-51->8 #1350 22/06/2002 Paul Oakenfold Southern Sun/Ready Steady Go 16 {16}-30-39-56->4 #1351 22/06/2002 Ludacris Rollout (My Business) 20 {20}-34-38-53-66-62-65->7 #1352 22/06/2002 Starchaser Love Will Set You Free (Jambe Myth) 24 {24}-41-61-74->4 #1353 22/06/2002 Badly Drawn Boy Something To Talk About 28 {28}-49->2 #1354 22/06/2002 Layo And Bushwacka! Around 3.75m (it did 142k in 1987)
  20. Just had a listen to both and found Weezer’s more interesting. The Stooshe one sounded quite phoned in.
  21. The “Eternal Flame” cover really has zero creativity, whereas “Bootylicious” has plenty and had high cultural impact.
  22. I like the Glee version of DSB a lot - it’s a really good example of that a capella choir style. Also had an OMG moment realising that Jade was about 12 when Glee aired and I was in my mid twenties. 😬

    Congratulations @Dobbo
  24. A strong Top 5. I’m now going for Good Charlotte: it’s catchy but the lyrics are a little silly.
