Round 1: Year End Survivor #109
- 2025 albums year to date estimates
Sorry I meant to go back to just showing the post ‘94 figure as there’s a lot of uncertainty around the total as discussed elsewhere.- 2025 singles year to date estimates
Haha it only ended up as a table because it came out like that automatically when I copied from Excel, but glad it looks OK! Yes 4 for Fleetwood Mac for now. Note that they also had the same 4 for a few weeks in 2023 before “The Chain” dropped back out. I don’t believe “The Chain” has made a year end Top 100 (and it wasn’t a hit at all originally), but in 2021 it came very close - think it dropped out of the Top 100 in the final week.- Pop Track of the Week

We’ve had Green Day and Linkin Park not long ago so I’ll go for some slightly less obvious ones: Hate It Or Love It The Reason Work It- The Final: Year End Survivor #106
Avril - one of her best and the pick of this bunch apart from The Pogues- Round 6: Year End Survivor #107
Love all 5 but reluctantly going for Mya - a really punchy piece of RnB pop though.- Round 3: Year End Survivor #108
Whoops can’t edit it and missed your previous comment. “Barry Islands In The Stream” is off I’m sure but that Craig David Bowie mangling is slightly more obnoxious for me.- Round 6: Year End Survivor #107
“Gossip Folks” was the 2nd time Missy Elliott had a Top 10 hit in collaboration with Ludacris, and reached #9 in March 2003. It was the follow up to the raunchy “Work It” from her “Under Construction” album, and was co-written by Timbaland. 6th: Missy Elliott - Gossip Folks 17/32 votes (53%) 7th: U2 - Electrical Storm 15/34 votes (44%) 8th: Jamelia - DJ / Stop 11/32 votes (34%) 9th: Nickelback - Photograph 13/34 votes (38%) 10th: Chuckie & LMFAO - Let The Bass Kick In Miami Girl 14/36 votes (39%)- Round 3: Year End Survivor #108
The Cat Stevens original of “Father And Son” never charted. However the Boyzone cover was a #2 hit in 1994, and 10 years later Ronan teamed up with Cat (now known as Yusuf) to make another version, which would become the 2004 Christmas #2. 9th: Ronan Keating featuring Yusuf - Father And Son 13/30 votes (43%) 10th: Leon Jackson - When You Believe 12/35 votes (34%)- The Final: Year End Survivor #106
“Sober” was the 2nd single from the “Funhouse” album, following up the #1 hit “So What”. It charted via cherrypicking from the album, and climbed to a #9 peak in February 2009, becoming her 19th hit. 3rd: Pink - Sober 17/33 votes (52%) 4th: Eminem - Sing For The Moment 16/36 votes (44%) 5th: Richard Ashcroft - Break The Night With Colour 14/33 votes (42%) 6th: The Pogues featuring Kirsty MacColl - Fairytale Of New York 13/37 votes (35%) 7th: Will Young - You And I / Don’t Let Me Down 12/33 votes (36%) 8th: Louise - Stuck In The Middle With You 19/35 votes (54%) 9th: Lemar - Time To Grow 14/33 votes (42%) 10th: Westlife - I Have A Dream / Seasons In The Sun 17/38 votes (45%)- Top 100 Best Selling Albums of the 20s
Thanks for this Gezza! It’s always fun, even though the top end will become more GH heavy with each year that passes. A few artist albums like “Sour” are still really holding their own though.- Top 100 Best Selling Albums of the 20s
Yeah Vidcapper’s figures at the end of 2023 say 208.6k for the year and total 371.4k. But as it was only released in 2023 the 371.4k must be a mistake I think. The 208.6k is consistent with it going platinum in April 2024 so think that’s right, making its total 493k at the end of 2024. I’ve changed that total in the chart vault.- Jade's EOY ● 2024
Really enjoying this playlist! A good mix of great stuff I know from the year and stuff I don’t know. For some reason I thought yours might be more obscure than Jim’s but actually it’s more familiar. I hadn’t heard “Capricorn” before which made the Top 3 for both of you, so that feels like an important discovery. Interesting that for some bands like Horrors and TR/ST you have different tracks featured near the top!- Pop Track of the Week
Voted for Addison but didn’t love anything. I enjoyed the Anne-Marie track more than I expected so would put that 2nd. And Perrie 3rd. The Sabrina song seems quite bland to me, and I do enjoy her 4 big hits to date.- Electronic Track of the Month: January 2025
First time I’ve participated in this! A great list - thanks. Went for: 1 NTO 2 Entrañas 3 Qrion and Blake.08- Round 8: Year End Survivor #106
I’ll move to Pink now then: a good song but not a favourite.- Round 8: Year End Survivor #106
“Sing For The Moment” samples “Dream On” by Aerosmith, and came in the middle of Eminem’s incredible run of 19 straight Top 10 hits. It was the 4th single from “The Eminem Show”, reaching #6 in March 2003. 4th: Eminem - Sing For The Moment 16/36 votes (44%) 5th: Richard Ashcroft - Break The Night With Colour 14/33 votes (42%) 6th: The Pogues featuring Kirsty MacColl - Fairytale Of New York 13/37 votes (35%) 7th: Will Young - You And I / Don’t Let Me Down 12/33 votes (36%) 8th: Louise - Stuck In The Middle With You 19/35 votes (54%) 9th: Lemar - Time To Grow 14/33 votes (42%) 10th: Westlife - I Have A Dream / Seasons In The Sun 17/38 votes (45%)- Round 5: Year End Survivor #107
U2 had 12 consecutive Top 5 hits in the ‘00s, which is very impressive considering how deep into their career they were. “Electrical Storm” was released as a single from their “The Best Of 1990-2000” collection, and reached #5 in October 2002. 7th: U2 - Electrical Storm 15/34 votes (44%) 8th: Jamelia - DJ / Stop 11/32 votes (34%) 9th: Nickelback - Photograph 13/34 votes (38%) 10th: Chuckie & LMFAO - Let The Bass Kick In Miami Girl 14/36 votes (39%) - 2025 albums year to date estimates
