  1. Also “Father And Son” - I do really like the storytellling in the Cat Stevens original, but why Ronan had to butcher it twice I’m not sure.
  2. “When You Believe” was the “X Factor” winner’s single for Leon Jackson in 2007. Although its sales were much lower than Leona’s the previous year, it did enough to be the 2007 year end #4 and the 2007 year end #108. I think it might be the first song to finish 10th in 2 survivors! 10th: Leon Jackson - When You Believe 12/35 votes (34%)

As I said in another thread there’s now a chance “Apt.” could next week become the first ever song to be denied #1 entirely by ACR. (I realise that was the case for Mariah temporarily.)

  13. Actually looking back at it this is much stronger than most of the ‘90s sessions - at least some of the really dominant acts like Santana and Destiny’s Child were good. Best: Aaliyah - Try Again Christina Aguilera - Genie In A Bottle Madonna - Music OutKast - Ms. Jackson Mary J. Blige - Family Affair Commiserations: Alicia Keys - Fallin' Crazy Town - Butterfly Destiny's Child - Say My Name Nickelback - How You Remind Me TLC - No Scrubs Worst: Mariah Carey - Thank God I Found You (feat. Joe and 98°) SisQó - Incomplete Will Smith - Wild Wild West (feat. Dru Hill and Kool Moe Dee) Actually there’s much less rubbish here - the Will Smith track isn’t all that bad.
  14. 2Pac - California Love (feat. Dr. Dre and Roger Troutman) Barenaked Ladies - One Week Blackstreet - No Diggity (feat. Dr. Dre and Queen Pen) Brandy and Monica - The Boy Is Mine The Notorious B.I.G. - Hypnotize Worst: Boyz II Men - 4 Seasons Of Loneliness Céline Dion and R. Kelly - I'm Your Angel Puff Daddy - Can't Nobody Hold Me Down (feat. Mase)
  15. Week 18: Best: Coolio - Gangsta's Paradise (feat. L.V.) Ini Kamoze - Here Comes The Hotstepper Lisa Loeb & Nine Stories - Stay (I Missed You) Seal - Kiss From A Rose TLC - Waterfalls Worst: Boyz II Men - On Bended Knee Mariah Carey - Hero Whitney Houston - I Will Always Love You
  16. Dream - He Loves U Not Eve - Let Me Blow Ya Mind (feat. Gwen Stefani) Pearl Jam - Last Kiss
  17. There seem to be a few barriers to that at the moment - Kendrick, Kendrick, Sabrina, Sabrina and Kendrick. Certainly “Not Like Us” doesn’t seem to be fading fast enough for her to do it next week, and Sabrina’s songs haven’t been frontloaded in the past.
  18. Richard Ashcroft had 9 solo Top 40 hits but only this and “A Song For The Lovers” reached the Top 10, with both peaking at #3. This was released in January 2006 as the lead from his 3rd album “Keys To The World”. 5th: Richard Ashcroft - Break The Night With Colour 14/33 votes (42%) 6th: The Pogues featuring Kirsty MacColl - Fairytale Of New York 13/37 votes (35%) 7th: Will Young - You And I / Don’t Let Me Down 12/33 votes (36%) 8th: Louise - Stuck In The Middle With You 19/35 votes (54%) 9th: Lemar - Time To Grow 14/33 votes (42%) 10th: Westlife - I Have A Dream / Seasons In The Sun 17/38 votes (45%)
  19. This is a really strong field now - I’m moving to “Gossip Folks” even though I do enjoy it: Missy does have better.
  20. “DJ” was Jamelia’s 5th and final single from the “Thank You” album, and 4th consecutive Top 10 hit. It was released as a double A side with a cover of Sam Brown’s “Stop”, and reached #9 in November 2004. The original “Stop” reached #4 in 1989. 8th: Jamelia - DJ / Stop 11/32 votes (34%) 9th: Nickelback - Photograph 13/34 votes (38%) 10th: Chuckie & LMFAO - Let The Bass Kick In Miami Girl 14/36 votes (39%)
  21. Quite well endowed with rubbish this round, but Leon’s is the only one where I can’t think of any redeeming features.
