  2. Can you explain how Move has done 14k sales last week. It's below 'Holiday Road' on the independent chart which we know from the sales report only did 10k

Not sure - maybe it should be a couple of k lower but I don’t see how it can be #85 having only done 10k. Last week’s independent chart placing looks too low based on its YTD climb too so I can’t explain it.

  5. To its credit, here's "...Snowman"'s last.fm stats of late

    U2Q2AxH.png

Obviously not breaking the bank but the end of year climb isn't nothing either. I think the limit of how much of the Christmas canon we can witness on the chart (ie top 200 on Spotify) can hide those smaller stories that definitely do still exist. Maybe more credit could even be given as it's probably(?) not driven by corporate playlists. Not everyone's Christmas staple, but it is for a lot of people.

Fair enough - always a pleasure to be corrected by a Dirca graph! ;)

  6. 20 Hallelujah - Jeff Buckley (2008)

14 Caravan Of Love - The Housemartins (1986)

    13 Sunshine Superman - Donovan (1966)

  7. Great that this is happening - I’m away but will try to join some or all.

One point to make is although if you’ve followed my YTD estimates thread you’ll have a very good idea what this is going to look like, please keep this thread completely spoiler free. Assume there are people reading this who have no idea what’s going to make it, or even what’s going to be #1 and want it to be a surprise. :)

  8. OK this is going to take some effort to keep up with then but that’s cool.

Good Without - I wasn’t too keen on this and I’m not really a fan of her voice, though some of her later ones like “Red Flags” are good pop tunes

Santa’s Coming For Us - this is great fun though I love “Snowman” more

Bangarang - banger(ang): unique track that still sounds brilliant

Dynamite - I loved this at the time and it’s still a good tune though has a very early ‘10s sound to it

What A Life - one of Noel’s best solo tracks I think

I Was Gonna Cancel - I didn’t know this but it’s a very enjoyable bit of disco

Hero - not for me: turgid

Red - I do love this: lyrically it’s powerful and so well delivered

Someday At Christmas - can take or leave this version

Romeo - such a clever track that still sounds great

Red Wine Supernova - one of Chappell’s naffer ones for me so hopefully there’s more to

All I Want - an interesting track I didn’t know; slightly soppy but quite enjoyable

Love Again - I think I disliked his first hits so much that I wrote him off unfairly, but only findithis OK

All My Friends - LCDS are always great and this is well worth the 7 minutes

Fair Trade - absolutely one of Drake’s best 2020s hits, though that isn’t a very high bar

No Church In The Wild - sheer brilliance: that rumbling bassline still gives goosebumps

Broken Strings - definitely one of the better duets of this kind and still enjoyable

One Kiss - one of the best tracks of its kind even if it’s grown old for me

Ma Meilleure Enemie - this is great: hope it can come back in the New Year

Blind Faith - possibly the best track so far: wonderful

  9. I’ll follow this Ed.

Glad Coldplay feature despite you not being much of a fan and “Charlie Brown” is great.

Muse would appear rather a lot in my equivalent list, though more for their 00s than 10s work. “Survival” is a great later one though.

“Low” remains Flo Rida’s best song I think - a banger.

“Magic” is very nice though I think I prefer “Real Groove” and “Say Something” from that album.

I had to remind myself of the Zayn track and it still didn’t leave much impression sorry!

  10. Posted

Although he had already featured on numerous hits over several years, Pharrell’s debut album was not released until 2006. This was the opening track and first single. Gwen Stefani had asked to hear the track when they worked together on her material, after which she contributed to the song’s hook.
