I think 2024 has been great so far? So many big artists releasing singles/albums and other artists having a surge of success. Beyoncé, Ariana Grande, Billie Eillish, Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa, Hozier, Zach Bryan, Tyla, Benson Boone, Teddy Swims, Chappell Roan, Charli XCX, Sabrina Carpenter, Linkin Park etc.
I agree - 2024 has been as exciting a year as we’re likely to get in the current era of the charts.
And there have been the fun resurgences like Sophie, Mason, Natasha and Nsync too.

I will be shocked if “Hot To Go” isn’t in when I get this week’s chart on Tuesday. “Red Wine Supernova” went silver only a week after “Hot To Go” so could appear before long if it keeps streaming well. “Pink Pony Club” only went silver this week so is a long way off at the moment.
Also looking set to have at least 3 in the year end chart are Sabrina, Taylor, Billie, Dua and… Chase & Status!
I think “Guess” might eventually make it now that it’s stopped freefalling.

I work in the office quite a lot as I prefer it but I the majority of my colleagues basically work from home full time. If anything my company discourages office working as it loves the idea of saving money anywhere it can.
I really disagree with it though, mainly for my junior colleagues. I think they’re missing out massively by not having an office community and not learning by overhearing conversations and so on. They haven’t known anything different so they don’t know what they’re missing, but they are in my view. It would need more senior colleagues to come in for it to be worthwhile for them though. Even 50/50 would be fine. It upsets me actually.

so the 3 excluded from the 40 hurt (6, 10, though daydream in Blue grabbed an under-rated 83). So we overlap on 6, or 15%. I think it's fair to say my tastes are more pop oriented and US biased in 2001 for the top end but another 7 made my top 100, incl Blue and Cosmic Rough Riders just missing the 40. :)
If I’d done this at the time it would have been much more pop orientated. Still I like or love almost all of your Top 40. And your #9 hasn’t even come yet. :)

What would happen as a "best practice" rule if somehow, in the unlikely event, the figures were identical for two (or more) songs in the chart? In other words, how are tiebreakers decided and has there ever been a notable occasion where there was a tiebreaker in UK Chart history?
Quite unlikely these days as although the sales are quoted to us in whole numbers they’re worked out to 2 decimal places. So sales for “Taste” last week might have really been 57,988.23 or something like that. If the whole number sales are the same they look at the decimals.
Although on the physical sales chart where you need about 8 sales to chart I’m sure they have ties all the time. :)
