OPINION POLLS 2024-2029
Yes nobody is better off in the day to day, but a good economy means a government can balance spending along with knowing we have a heavy level of investment. I think if we can see interest rates down to 2.5% this will be huge. There is absolutely no way any of Trump's tariffs have had an impact on the figures. It's promising, but shouldn't be getting too carried away over it for now. I think part of the issue of immigration is certain influencial people blur the line between legal and illegal immgiration. I don't think anybody wants millions of people coming in to the country through illegal routes. But part of the wider issue is our legal routes are so complex and we also need immigration to function our economy. But explaining that to a lot of people is challenging.

OPINION POLLS 2024-2029
Yes pretty much nail on the head. Economically it's hard to see the pattern at the moment - much like under Biden, the US were doing economically well but nobody saw the benefits. I think unless you're a good earner or invested in stocks and shares it's hard to feel the benefits of good economy. Maybe it makes the autumn budget a bit less gloomy though, and on a positive. I think one problem Starmer and Labour are going to have is to win back those Reform votes, I'd suggest you probably need Reform to implode, which looks unlikely at the moment. Still think the way to plant the seeds of doubt is to get immigration under some level of control and then the NHS angle. Make no mistake about it, those poorest will suffer the most with any scenario Reform dream up. And of course every business is going to love offering some level of PMC.

Trump: Folie à Deux (US Politics Thread)
Great, so this article just proves my point 😂 Krat-Heinz already produces most of it's products locally, the investment includes ($400m) that was already announced pre-tarriffs to create 60 new jobs and all the growth created will be in short term construction as the investment is in technology to automate and reduce low-skilled jobs. Consumer confidence is falling, sales outlooks cut, so they are investing in technology rather than people. Shareholder investment PR.

The Last of Us
I honestly think it is down to poor writing. The material Bella Ramsey is being asked to work with is not great. It’s almost like they listened to the criticisms about the lack of action, zombies etc. and shoe horned these things in. From what I’ve read Neil Druckman was a lot less active this season and it really shows. It’s difficult as I’m like you, the 2nd game is probably the most narratively complex material to write. It’s a challenge to adapt and you can tell Craig Mazin loves the source material. I’ll be interested to se how they work the flashbacks in, they work so well in the game as everything is emotionally raw and noticeably they happen before big set pieces. But yeah for the story to work, Ellie is not at that piece of her journey. Maybe that Dina conversation is what tips her over the edge but it’s bonkers to see her as a love struck teenager.

The Last of Us
Hmmm loved the hospital scene, but I'm really not liking how they have written Ellie's character this season. We got a glimpse at the end, but I don't know, it seems a bit disjointed to me. We've gone from happy go lucky to stone cold killer within the space of about 12 hours. Dina seems the one hell bent on revenge rather than Ellie. Just seems bit off putting. And with the dialogue too, I feel like they are taking the audience as stupid as they spell out a lot about character's motivations and foreshadowing through the actions. Massive tease of Future Days. So glad they ignored the time lore and will actually be including that. Oh and can't wait for the return of the hospital in Season 3

Of course it would, you might just extend the current deal or increase the quotas slighly to get something in return, which looks to be free cash to support out defence. Just seems the exact quote a plant would put on a day when the news is about immigration which feeds in to the people who would be attracted to vote for Reform. Funny that. I have said it before, but will say it again, manufacturing is moving towards automation. As always, one of the many great benefits of Brexit of which everyone can name hundreds.

Don't the EU already fish in our waters and vice versa? Seems like a classic feed a story in to the press for armchair warrirors to get enraged about with them already understanding it's happening.

Who will finish top 5?
Leicester vs Forest is a derby and to be honest, that City vs Southampton game is one of those freak results that if you play out 100 times, a draw happens once or twice. As soon as teams are relegated it’s almost like a monkey off the back though. Happens across all leagues!

It’s different because Owen was from Chester and he also left with a fee. He’s also our vice captain. The reason Owen really gets a bad reception now is he joined Man Utd. Otherwise he’d be treated the same way as Suarez, Torres, Coutinho etc. Trent and his team deliberately ran his contract down. This move has been in the works since 2021. That’s why people are annoyed. I don’t agree with the booing but his team have engineered this move along with Madrid over a number of years.

But you’re winning by forcing 30% extra cost to consumers? That’s not winning, that’s fuelling price increases. All it does is makes things more expensive for consumers. And all those examples you’ve just posted, just proves my point. That’s 4 examples and 1 example of a manufacturing operational increase which would have been signed off and discussed before any tariffs. Do you really think a business is going to make a huge decision of that level of investment when a country flip flops every week. They are not.

Trump: Folie à Deux (US Politics Thread)
Honestly Liam. You are deluded on this subject. If there’s one thing businesses value it’s stability. They’re less likely to invest and move operations when the President can wake up and decide on a whim to do something. If the tariffs are so great why are they not higher? I’m still waiting for all these companies to move their manufacturing basis to America.

The extra 20% is made up of a fentanyl tax which American consumers pay. I don’t see how this can be chalked off as a win unless you are a trader on the stock market. Another 90 day deal, so time to manipulate the markets again or decide the price of goods is too high and lower em. All America has done in the short term is ramp up the cost of their products and not source alternative products.

End up exactly where they were the same place before, but call it a win. Winning without winning 😂

Not really a fan of the booing as it affected the team (and Trent). But yeah people are pissed. It's not even so much that he's leaving, it's the fact him and his team fully engineered this move with Real in their ear for years. Never nice, much rather people just did the Connor Bradley chant. By all accounts within the stadium it became fan vs fan a little bit too.
