Juries as a concept scare me.. eeek. It's not uncommon for people to be unconvinced in trials. What I find alarming from this argument is all the armchair conspiracy theorists question the competence of the jurors. So the evidence was always good enough for the jurors to conduct a guilty verdict but not for everybody else. You can present experts who can tell you absolutely anything, such as global warming isn't actually happening (but of course it is). There's tons of evidence both medical and circumstancial which paint her as guilty. Furthermore, even if the prosecution accept what is being presented as evidence as true, it may be that the prosecution is able to argue that the babies were murdered or intentionally mistreated in some way or neglected with the intention of them dying. It's not inconceivable that she would still be found guilty if the prosecution can still make a compelling case. The counter theory to Letby's actions has always been she was a scapegoat to cover up the hospitals inadequicies. The counter argument to this current push is that an element of the right wing will use this as evidence to influence/dismantle the NHS.
  2. Not seen anything of the game so I can't comment, but doing that is absolutely bonkers. Sounds like you were poor again at home (and Diallo no shot OT ). Can only assume the linesman are so used to VAR that they probably realised a bad error., but it was too late. otherwise that is incompetence at its finest!

Liam, with all due respect, you have completely gone down the rabbit hole of TikTok conspiracy theorists on this one. Your basis for this being a huge miscarriage of justice on the scale of the blood scandal, Horizon or Hillsborough is completely different. None of those cases went to trial at the time, most of them were State cover ups or great errors of misjudgement which were blamed on a group of people. The whole basis of a fair trial is laughable - you're right, media influence does play a part I am almost sure of it. But often people want it both ways. Let's take that horrific Southport scum as an example, quite cleary everyone knows he murdered those children. However presentably, his defence could have put up a defence that he did not intend to murder the children and the decison would be at the decision of 12 jurors. I find this whole clamor for a retrail cray. Maybe it may be a miscarriage of justice, maybe it is not. What nobody can ever explain in this case though is why someone can put forward a strong medical defece, absolutely nobody can attest to the circumstancial evidence that was prevented. What people forget is medicine is not a perfected science and clinicians/ pathologists need circumstancial evidence to establish the facts. From everything I have read, I would conclude a guilty verdict. You can find experts who can challenge absolutely everything in this world, the job ultimately is for the defence to prove the innoncence and plant seeds of doubt. Personally for me and as someone who has sat on a jury, the most damning admission in the whole case was her admitting somebody had tampered with the babies, but of course, it was not her. Experts can disprove anything if they want and put together an argument, but circumstancial evidence is crucially important and ultimately why she was found guilty. There is far too much evidence that was just not normal behaviour which proves she was a crap nurse and breached thousands of GDPR laws.
  4. Going after paper straws next  Making all the big decisions. In a more genuine speech though, it is all a bit concerning though as you can already see the seeds for which way America is going to go next socially. Some bonkers rhetorics on Twitter today.

Can't see it myself -the Conservative brand is too strong. I think what is more likely is they concede the far right and move back to the Centre. Long time to go yet but the Tories are really screwed here. They need a leader who is not attached to the last leadership and someone who isn't going to copy Reform's full policies. Just think unless Reform self destruct and lose Farage (which could happen, but I don't think it will) they will do well.
  6. The younger and cheaper list is definitely the way to go. Only problem is in that 15-18 market the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea exploit it quite well so it’s saturated. But on the whole it’s really low risk, you might spend a small outlay at the start, but even if most of them don’t work out, there’s pure profit. Issue is though you have to play them! I think part of Man Utd’s struggle is they’re looking for big marquee signings and short term fixes.
  7. Sounds like Shaw's body has just broken down - happens. And get the impression Mount is the same too, some players are just more injury prone - no idea why. Maybe their bodies are just not conditioned for the intensity! I think the Martinez one is just unlucky though.
  8. Reform will do well at the next election. Populism is easy and I can see why it's appealing - they tell you what they want to hear, will take all your money and its always someone else's fault. And of course they won't make anything better. Part of the issue in the UK is everyone looks for short term fixes and wants everything now. But unless something drastic happens, I just struggle to see how they can obtain a working majority with our electoral system. Plus as is shown when Farage ever gets challenge - he can't handle it. Not an easy task. Labour have done OK, I think they have messed up a few bits and ofc with general bills going up in April across the board it is not good (apart from everyone ignoring they go up every year :D).
  9. Steve puts it far more eloquenty than me, but you are assuming all these "wins" that Trump has got as good strategic plays. He's literally not achieved anything, taken away the tariffs that were proposed and you're assuming there will be extra guards there to protect borders. Nobody will know either way - you have assumed it will happen, whereas there is no proof it will actually happen. Everything it taken at face value. Most politicians know how to play Trump - check out what Boris Johnson was saying on election night. Unfortunately for America fentanyl is rife and a few extra guards aren't going to make the world of difference. I think we have different definitions of a businessman, as while Trump is undoubtedly super successful, how he made and acquired his wealth (along with most billionaires) through dodgy, unethical and is idebidly corrupt. He took advantages of the system and certianly played a risky game that worked out well for him. Some of the ideas you are putting through are full of pure right wing populism. Oh yes, the health service is expensive and nobody can get an appointment cos of illegal immigrants! When actually the welfare state was designed decades ago for a much smaller population we have now and we have an aging population. Some while it is great that people live longer, there is also a knock on effect. And anyway as far as I am aware on the health service if you're not a UK national, you also have to pay in to the system a lot more.
  10. How is it a win when the US have literally got nothing extra back! It’s a bit like all those trade deals the Tories signed that were actually worse than we had than when in the U.K. You make it out like Trump is some mastermind businesses man. How many companies has be bankrupted? You’re looking at everything through a completely blinkered lense. What’s more likely (as Brexit proved) is people won’t invest in an instability that’s not going to be cost effective and can’t take advantage of local trading partners.
  11. Yep Thursday! We will go full strength then likely see a good bit of rotation for the Plymouth game. Our schedule at the moment is pretty good and we’ve a a fully fit squad outside of Trent.

  13. Tariffs now paused for 30 days, so that both Canada & Mexico can do exactly what they were doing under Biden. I'm sceptical whether these troops moving will actually ever take place and in true MAGA fashion, people will tell you he's a genius even if it doesn't happen or they won't believe it if it doesn't happen. All seems utterly meaningless window dressing. which will have zero impact. I'm still conviced the people pushing these ideas had zero idea of what they actually meant. Like I've said, it's a dumb move as you screw you allies, who will be looking for more reliable partners and made investers queasy.
  14. Never nice to see, but can't help but feel a bit of karma for trying to two foot players! Interesting how Utd are trying to balance the books at the moment. Guess they're hoping Rashford does well and someone takes the plunge on him in the summer, otherwise suspect they're going to be forced to sell Mainoo or Garnacho to be able to re-invest.
  15. Yes I'm well aware of crypto, a heavily unregulated market, easily manipulated, which regularly has large swings and used by people to launder money and hook people who have zero idea about investment in to the ponzi schemes. I don't really get the point here.. yes the markets go up and down all the time and yes nobody should be worried about short term losses, but it presents what people think about the tariffs against a major ally and trading partner. Nobody thinks this is a good idea. What problem have we got over here? Small boats? Well shock horror we pissed the French off because of our arrogance over Brexit. Something the US will find out quickly, like I've said everyone needs friends. Except Trump who doesn't have any so he doesn't understand the concept.
  16. But you can look at it two ways, it’s a “BIG WIN” or you can work out that Wall Street had a very unnecessarily blip as soon as the Markets opened and this is part of a concession both sides are willing to make in the short term. But it doesn’t address the fentanyl issue really. That’s my problem with the Trump loyalists- they’re willing to eat up all the propaganda and don’t for one second entertain the thought they’re being played.
  17. MAGA think a trade war will increase the American economy. It may well do in 5 years and maybe the cult will believe it but I think there will be enough stupid people who see the light. Throwing tariffs on the EU because they don’t buy American cars is a dumb move. Maybe it will increase the value of American cars, or maybe the solution is just to make better vehicles that people want to buy. Kind of puts Starmer in a hard position as not sure you can walk the line with both the EU and US at the same time.

They've never gone deep on two fronts in Europe and the league though. It's interesting how the narrative shifts but it's a good thing for Liverpool. We've just beaten the form team in the league and Arsenal beat City with an xG of just over 1. Winning a title is never easy, but there is probably marginal room for error with Arsenal and they probably have to win at Anfield.

Form goes out of the window for these games. They'll make it a tough and physical game, we just have to match them. Do that and we win quite comfortably.

Only kept 1 clean sheet in the league though recently :D Arsenal have for the most part being matching Liverpool's form. We play City shortly and haven't won there since 2016! Lucky (or unlucky for us) they ahve Real Madrid away before that match.

I must have entered a parallel universe when rival fans actually want Liverpool to win the league over Arsenal  Speaks volumes!
  22. It's such a bad economic decision (on Canada), that even economists who cannot ever agree on anything, all agree that it's a terrible idea  It's honestly dumb. How long are we going to bet before it's reversed when MAGA realise they've truly ballsed up.
  23. I've already explained about China, that's completely different to Mexico & Canada. Tariffs are not going to grow the economy. You've consumed way too much Twitter. If you can't see how this benefits the elite when they make a mint off the stock market crashes and hoovering it all up then I just don't get it. You mention populism and no hope, but these sorts of measures are not going to make anyone's lifes better, it will make them worse. And immigration is good, it's very basic economics. The idea that people can't get jobs because of immigration is absolutely laughable. Here's a thing, as much as I am a fan of capitalism, companies are so short term these days and at the behost of shareholders, so they end up making disasterous short term decisions and over paying dividends.
  24. Plus, I can tell it's a dumb thing when my Twitter algorithm is full of people saying it's a dumb thing  Idiots thinking America can just produce everything and there's no repecussions for them. Will be interesting to see how Wall Street reacts on Monday morning in the US. Can't wait for the US to start demanding everyone needs to buy US cars next, forgetting that outside of the US there is little to zero appettite for any US cars.
  25. He's averaging 1.08 points in the Premier League. Palace were in the relegation zone when he took over  Think you can give him the money to get players for his system, but you're just back to square one if it doesn't work out.
