UK General Election 2024
Agreed. It's a good move from Labour. This story has cut through, so it shows a decisive difference and allows Labour to control their narative if the Tories try and spin it. Personally, don't think this looks good for anyone. Wonder if they might try and push some legislation for MPs not being allowed to bet on politics..

England v Slovenia
Absolutely dreadful. I don't even know what we're trying to do or what we do in training as it's clearly not working the amount of mis placed passes. Doesn't take a genius to see our problem is we have no width on the left, any half decent team knows exactly what Trippier is going to do, so you just mark the right side out. Foden has been good, but our lack of width on the left really hurts us. Even when we play 1-2s, the players are in the way of each other or not on the same wavelength.

Willing to give Southgate the benefit of the doubt but dear God if we are turgid again this is all on him

Biggest fall from grace in the 21st Century
Missed this at the time.. surely the biggest one is Duffy? That Diet Coke advert ruined her career. Think people forget her and Adele broke through at the same time and Duffy was the one who looked to be having the bigger career trajectory! Crazy stuff. As for some other shouts in here.. think they are just natural cycles in music which happens. Someone new comes along and the public have moved on.

Is Taylor Swift threatened by other female artists' success?
Interesting debate and some good discussion to read her- personally I susbscribe to all theories! Like someone has already said, she clearly has a lot of control/say in her career (if not everything). However I don't believe she signs off every single little decison, there will be some stuff she trusts her teams to do as it aligns to their strategy and goal, which ultimately is create a legacy. I'd say she's doing a pretty fine job of that, but there is the worry that someone will always come around and do it better eventually. I do actually have a lot of time for her, but she does hold narcassistic character vibes.. I mean she's made an exempaloray career out of writing about her ex-boyfriend's through music and not even trying to hide it! A few people mentioned her blocking artists like Sabrina Carpenter and Gracie - not sure I see this. If anything, she would probably take credit for what they are achieving by giving them slots on her tour. Sure Sabrina Carpenter was probably destined for a half decent career in anyway.. but no way she gets to work with the producers she currently is without the Swift impact. And finally on Charli specifically.. I do think this one might have been personal. Not sure it's been mentioned in here, but Charli is going out with someone from The 1975 (and has been for some time) so they have no doubt crossed paths and I know which side of the debate Charli's bread will be buttered on..

Didn't think Hungary were much either, but Scotland got what they deserved really, can't have any complaints. They channeled the spirit of the English there through being blunt.

Scotland and Huungary are going to be disappointed, both just played not to lose in what is pretty much a knockout game!

Looked awful, was he having a seizure on the pitch? No idea if it was caused by the collision but can only hope it looks positive if they're carrying the game on.

England v Slovenia
Exactly this, I think 1-0 or 2-1 England. Interested to see how Southgate reacts - Trent obviously gets dropped, although I don't think he is the problem.. The problem is glaringly obvious, but interested to see how Southgate reacts. If the once change is Mainoo/Gallagher for Trent then honestly, it's gonna be a long Tuesday night.

UK General Election 2024
It's what happens though, although the brand of politics of Farage and his backers is all around the US style, where usually, charisma and personality wins you an election. Just not sure it cuts through the same here, of course they will look at it and say he's getting his message across to more people. Just can't see him being Tory Leader, even if they welcome him back, clearly Truss/Braverman are going to try and take that mantle.

UK General Election 2024
He’s not going to be locked up, but his interview with Panorama is a good example of why he won’t ever be Prime Minister. He serves the people who fund him and there’s holes in every story he brings up. Plus he’s a Putin apologist which is daft. If he’s given platforms and challenged enough people can see through the shite he spouts. In reality, if he takes over the Tories (which I don’t think he will but I could see him being heavily influential) they’re gonna lose the centre ground.

Yeah it was offside from a technical aspect, but he wasn't interferring with play. Keeper was never getting there in real-time, shock in the post match they're showing the freeze frames too. Even if the keeper was set up correctly with his footing he was never getting it. Can see why it was called off, but scandalous decsion, the keeper was never getting there whether the player was there or not.

Keeper was never getting that, was way past him, that's why he didn't dive.

Scandalous decision. No surprise it's the English refs involved

Coldplay - feelslikeimfallinginlove
Crazy really, I think they've done well to have their core fanbase and then latch on to trends and have the right features too. There's a self awareness within their team too. They headlined Radio 1 Big Weekend and with my knowledge of these things, the acts don't really take a few (or very minimal fee) to play these events, but the trade off is that they are guaranteed airplay.

Maybe. I can't see it myself. Think we'll go for someone different. Not sure who the technical director is at the FA. I think that's fairly harsh. I can't blame the fans in the stadium for being annoyed - people pay good money for these tickets and want to be entertained. We're playing like we're in a relegation scrap. Also, I thinm that's fairly harsh on the fans. Whilst of course you always get a few bad eggs who look for trouble, by most accounts the atmosphehere of the fans has been really good around the fan parks and residences?

Smart money would be for Graham Potter I reckon, he turned down the Leicester job, so I'd imagine he's holding out for something. There's not a natural successor in the way Southgate was primed, so could literally be anyone. The issue is Steve, it's Southgate. He did a great job bringing the team together and conencting the squad with the fans again & changing the culture from within. We should have won the Euros, but he resorted to cowardice tactics and he does the same time and time again. We have the players to take more risks, be more aggressive. People can point to France, but France have adapted their style and don't play anywhere near as conservative and defensive as we do. Do Denmark really have a better team or group than us? Not sure on that one. Eriksen probably had his best game all season, that's no conicidence. I totally agree we don't have the right set up, but this is all on the manager. We're easy to play against at the moment- no surprise when we have looked our best under Southgate we had runners off Kane, now we have Bellingham who thinks he's playing for Madrid and God knows what's happening on the left hand side. What's annoying is at international level you don't need to be a football nerd to see how things are not working. Heck, me and a few others called this before the tournament even began with the left hand side and guess what.. it's happened in both games!

Denmark v England
Thing is Steve, while he's done well, ultimately we've lost every time and we play the same tactics every single time too. People (myself included) just want a change now. Take Kyle Walker's post game - he reckoned the game was a hostile atmosphere.. yeah in a neutral ground and two thirds of the crowd are English! The mentality is not right. Of course there are other good teams too, but this England side should not be being played off the park by Denmark. Quite simply, other teams know how to nulify us and that is down squarely to the manager.

Denmark v England
Yeah again but really different times. Can't remember the 90s or even the early 00s build up, but that team we had in the early 00s was really good on paper. Not sure it was as good as some of the other big teams about. That team we had in 2006 really should have done better, but these things happen, at least we went down with a fight. We actually have a really good team now, especially in attack. Yet Southgate has us set up to be turgid, just doesn't make any sense. We can point to doing well in recent tournaments, but ultimately the same pattern happens in every game which is purely tactical from Southgate.

Denmark v England
Even in 2016, you could see an Iceland style result happening as well. We scraped through the group. Hodgson picked Wilshere with one leg, Rooney in midfield and we had Kane on corners. Who can forget those good old days!

Denmark v England
We have some of the best players (for what it's worth, I think France have a far great level of depth and I've never once suggested England would win the Euros..). I know all about international football, it's completely different to the Premier League, I've never said it isn't  The issue is football moves on, international football in 2024 is not played the same as it was in 2018. We've not moved on, except a change of shape and we look far weaker at set pieces. Our starting players today mostly play some form of high press tactically fluid football, yet we try to capture the spirit of Greece 2004. Just makes no sense. It's clueless from Southgate and his post match comments basically say as much. Nope I've never thought that in 2012, 2014 or 2016. Those teams had obvious weaknesses and of course, the biggest weakness of all.. Hodgson!
-
Denmark v England
Precisely! Other international teams can cohesively put a press together that works with triggers, but we can't. We regularly score a goal and then decide to play compact, which means we try and play on the counter, except we're not dangerous on the counter. We were incredibly lucky in 2018, we got an easy draw. We've never beaten a top team under Southgate in a major tournament expect Germany. Southgate will go down as giving England fans some great moments, but come on. We've got the most gifted squad we've had for nearly 20 years and we play like we're an underdog. We're the a good team, we need to play agressive and on the front foot. As much as he's given us great moments there's also a distinct pattern of Southgate play, where we're timid, go in to our shells and end up losing. The problem is everyone's seen this story a few times now and we're all bored of it. Too negative, too compact, no width and not even a half decent press. This is all on the manager. Just shows you that England were poor with Trent, but even worse when he came off. We could have a front three of Messi, Mbappe and Haaland and still stink the place out.

Denmark v England
Nobody expects the team to play like properly coached Premier League team. In 2018 we got lucky, but we had a much worse squad and a defensive set up suited us. We’ve actually properly coached players who are tactically in tune and can play on the front foot but we don’t play that way. We score a goal then play behind the ball, I can understand that with 20 minutes to go but we do the same every time. It’s obviously tactical.

Denmark v England
He'll just do what Foden does. That was absolutely mind numblind awful and boring. We look gassed, absolutely terrible. Trent and Foden will get stick, but the whole team were terrible. Which points to something not right with our set up and coaching.
