No chance he goes for anything less than £50m with a load of easy add-ons bolted on.

Yeah I like him too. Although hard to judge how he'd play in a high line and be exposed on a regular basis. United throwing out a £35m opening bid which was publically rejected. Don't think Everton will sell for anything less than £75m. Bonkers opening bid.

Group A
Scotland couldn't get close to Germany. The Germans were my pick before the tournament started and seen nothing to change that, they've a really good blend of youth & experience across their sprine, and of course being the home team they have an advantage in that respect too. Hard to tell just how good they are as Scotland didn't put up a fight- I think the game against Hungary might show a little bit more.

Is that for Branthwaite or Yoro?

Manifestos - General Election 2024
That's it in a nutshell isn't it - Labour's manifesto is middle of the road, but actually reading the headlines it seems really sensible and a steadying of the shop moment. Yeah sure, there's a few things in there that I am not sure they can raise the money for etc. but it's a sensible manifesto which shows enough ambition, without holding themselves to full account if they are unable to deliver. With the way it's pitched there's room for further ambition too and certainly I can see the Lib Dems pushing agendas on Labour to be bolder. Seems loads of people want to criticise the manifesto, when actually, there's some really good things in there that are broad appealing and ultimately should make the country better for everyone.

UK General Election 2024
These interviews are designed for the headlines and the big 'gotcha' moment. Sounds like Sunak is getting roasted.

UK General Election 2024
Not sure I really see it that way. Reform will eat votes from both sides as we get closer. Feel the far left don’t help themselves with some of their policies either with the Greens going straight for turning off middle earners and swing voters in their manifesto.

UK General Election 2024
Think it's more likely Labour lose their lead in the polls and it shorterns down. Clearly at the moment Reform are taking votes away, but they are riding a Farage based wave of ;ublicity and a lot of their policies are populist and popular, although they are all smoke and mirrors and have no susbtance behind them, but I can understand why people would vote for them.

Italy, Netherlands and Croatia look a good e/w bet in my eyes there.

UK General Election 2024
It's really poor, but he actually was quite confident about his statements imo. The problem with the Tories is in their spending plans they will be reducing lots of services. I can't help but feel at this stage, they know they've lost and this is about damage limitation as much as possible. Be interesting to see if there is a headline tax cut in the manifesto though..

England v Iceland
He is so overrated. Not saying he has not got potential, but I can see why United concede so many goals. He doesn't track back and his decision making at times is bonkers. It could be tactical, but my point is, he'd be nowhere near this England squad if he didn't play for Man Utd.

UK General Election 2024
Agreed. As others have said here, their play here kill the Tories off or angle a merger between the two parties. Unfortunately, whatever happens it really seems the next era of politics is set for pure populism and Trumpism.

England v Iceland
Just highlights our problems imo. Mainoo is way too raw, he makes some terrible decisions and plenty others just snatch at chances. The subs completely disrupted the game, which is to be expected, but probably shows our weakness too. You can say we've not had our best XI out currently, which I totally agree with, but some real dilemas for Southgate to deal with.

UK General Election 2024
Not sure I see people taking votes away in North Yorkshire from the Tories in the more rural areas. They're truly screwed if that happens.

Simon Cowell's Boy Band Search
These things go in cycles, when 1D were put together, Simon saw an opportunity with The Wanted and of course people forget in 2011/2012 there was actually quite a big rivalry between the two which the labels played up. Definitely lightning in a bottle though with 1D, they surpassed everyone's expectations.

Eminem - Houdini
Whilst in normal cases the MTS is a bit cringe.. Enimem has made a career out of this stuff, so I'd hardly say he's jumping on a bandwagon. Just crazy how so many acts struggle, but Eminem comes back time and time again! Not his biggest fan, but that's some impact.

Serbia v England
Swap out Mainoo for Gallagher and I think that's right. Wonder if Saka is struggling, then Bowen gets the nod on the right.

No way Reform take any seats in North Yorkshire.

UK General Election 2024
Nationalism is a key piece of any leader (and not the far-right version). This is super basic stuff - we're remembering 80 years ago, one of the most momentous occasions where the Allied forces came together to help liberate France, where millions of people lost their lives. You've got photo opportunities with other Allies and the world's media is covering it.. this is just a real basic gaffe. Sounds like Sunak wasn't even interested - so this whole "put your country first piece" becomes ridiculous, as the own Conservative leader can't even be bothered to do that!

EURO 2024 | General Discussion & Collation Thread
I think we're false favourites though - set up by the fact we have an "easier" group on paper. Clearly we have a good attacking team and good players but our defence is incredibly average. We're likely to be playing a half-fit Luke Shaw, John Stones who hasn't regularly played football for 3 months, Walker and Guehi. Our attack is good, but it's useless without the right support structure. I really like Watkins, but he just does not fit the system Southgate plays imo. Kane is by far our most important player.

UK General Election 2024
Labour definitely struggled, it might have been harder because it was Chester and clearly some Welsh specific issues, but some really woolly answers and not sure they did very well to capture any swing voters. I thought it was interesting the Brexit question came up again, although I totally get why Labour are playing that down during this election cycle, it's the right political play. As I said about above, the Greens were just talking about nothing, all very flimsy and then when challenged there were some dreadful answers. Also agree that Plaid Cymru came off best!

UK General Election 2024
Problem is when you forecast the borrowing, the actual spend is likely to be far higher, that's even without the current borrowing rates we have at the moment. It's great on paper and does make sense, but the reality is far different.
-
UK General Election 2024
Except we've already borrowed a load of money and can't pay it back, unless the money is properly accounted for with guarantees of how we will raise it, the Markets will have a field day and crash our economy again. This whole "oh we will tax the rich even more" policy is so dumb. Yes in theory it works, but how many people do we really think will stick around and not find a tax loophole, rendering the whole thing pointless.

UK General Election 2024
There's evidence floating about that Sunak was not even going to attend Normandy in the first place! Such a bad look, and an easy open goal for Labour/Reform here. I don't know who is advising Sunak, but this is just another example of showing how out of touch he is. Anyone watch QT last night? Thought it was a pretty poor performance from everyone. Labour struggled, the Tories did terrible and The Greens have seemingly moved on to the magic money tree.

Out of form, who knows really. He's a good player, but he is so streaky and I don't think he's ever performed at the top level consistently.
