I thought it would be an interesting idea to track all the top 40 entries that will be effected by the new 300:1 ratio after a certain point when it comes into force, so when a chart comes out I'll post out all the entries that have been effected and also include entries that qualify for the following week. Using today's Spotify chart for example Shape of You is #12 with 251,888 streams but under 300:1 it means you half the total and that makes 125,794 streams tumbling down to number 50!

When all the old Christmas tracks reappear in November/December, will they all go under 300:1 or will they get 150:1 back to start off with?

Due to record label pressure the Official Charts Company have announced that in the wake of Ed Sheeran's recent top 20 domination, album tracks will no longer be eligible to count in the singles chart unless they are released as singles. The change will take effect from April 14th. Thank god for that.

There was of course the clubland boom of the late 2000s (Basshunter, Cascada) followed by the Electropop boom (LMFAO, Guetta) of the early 2010s before EDM bounced back.
