Great isn't it? I love it but the only thing I would change is the beat.. It's a bit ''demo'' sounding to me, I'd stick a much dirtyer R&B lick on that akin to the whitney ''My Love Is Your Love'' beat.

I have all of her B-sides and a good 90% of her remixes.. No need to blush, take it and do with it as you please.. I don't own the stuff, merely share it Psst, if you want to download most remixes and b-sides for free, then use this little trick Got to this website http://www.7digital.com/promotions/virgintrains/Default.aspx enter the code VIRGIN7 and then put in your email address... It will send you a code to use which allows you to download 3 songs for free.... Best thing is, you can register this trick to as many different email addresses as you want so you can keep going until you have everything of Beverley's that's on the 7digital website :D The code has only been goin for a few weeks and was temp suspended for the amount of abuse it was getting but if you get in there quick and grab as many codes as poss you will be fine coz u can still use the coudes when the promotion has finished... Too bad that I already bought 99% of the stuff from 7digital before this promotion so it cost a small fortune..

Oh right, gotcha!! Only at the beginning and end of all of them.. ! Those 3 performances you put up are amongst my favourite live performances from Bev too but they are quite popular and common amongst people so thought I shy away from that ad throw some rarer live bev songs in the mix..

Really? I listened to her album and it's like Mariah Carey but in an oxfam dress.. It never really lifts or takes off in the way the songs by the true divas do, it's like a glass half full, if you get my drift? Her lower range is merely a whisper, her mid range is basically head voice, her belting range is very thin and lacks power, and then she goes into squeek mode which isn't as awsome and fantastic as everybody makes out, there are plenty of singers who use that squeek mode, too many in fact! That's a little showy as if to say ''ooh look, I can screech really high, look at my range'' that isn't music to my ears, maybe a dog appreciates it though?.. To me she sounds like a breathless little girl in her teens. As Cara would say ''she doesn't have the chops'' .. Maybe she will develop some bass in her voice as she gets older and it matures but at the moment there's a hell of a lot of things that dont sit right with her voice... I also don't like the fact that every time I hear her live, she's almost constantly a tad out of tune. If she was to start singing 'leona' songs and stop trying to immitate other singers than maybe I'd have another opinion but at the moment she's just a poor man's Mariah Carey.. Actually, a p*** poor mans Mariah.. I don't think any albums of Leona can be compared to Beverley's in the context which you put it.. Beverley's first album was written by her, arranged by her, produced on an independant label and was very low-key... Leona on the other hand had everything written for her, was flown around the world to jump in with the best producers money could buy, had millions of pounds put into it and endless promo and oppurtunities provided by Simon Cowell and Clive Davis ... You can't compare on the basis that they were both of the artists ''first albums'' If you want a real comparison then the only thing I can suggest is that you take Prodigal Sista which was almost 100% Beverley in terms of writing, arrangments, melodies, production etc and compare it with Leona's ''Twilight'' which was the same in the sense that it was 100% the artists own musical vision and artistry... And if you ask me, every single song on the prodigal album wipes the floor with the twilight album, every song on the prodigal album wipes the floor with the spirit album too if you ask me. It was written and produced by one person so had a clear vision of what its about, not something produced by about 20 different people with mis-matching songs and a total mess if you ask me.. in terms of sheer music quality and not 'disposable pop trash'' the prodigal album is a master piece.. But it's hard to appreciate if you didn't buy it at the time because it has a sound that is specifically related to the period in which it was released so someone listening to it now probably wouldnt get it... The harmonies, melodies, lyrics, arrangements all make you catch your breath in wonderment.. Anyways, I'm going on a bit now and will let you off lightly, I could talk about this subject in depth for hours but won't bore people or bog them down with it lol.. If some people choose to pick throw away trash like Jamelia and Leona over Beverley then who am I to stop you! Go for it... I just like to keep it real, there's only two kinds of music - the good stuff and the bad stuff (Louis Armstrong) and Jamelia, Leona et al fall miles short of ''the good stuff''

I've asked myslef this question for years.. oh well, she's happy where's she's at and she has all the critical acclaim she deserves. It's just that we live in a throw away society where it's all about image, sexing it up and releasing absolutely sh*t music with catchy melodies... Bev is what I would regard as one of the last ''true artists'' to come from these isles.. Since Bev we've had an extremely little amount of talent and huge amounts of tuneless, non creative, untalented people like spice girls who are very pretty and would do anything to sell an album.. Bev isn't about that, she's about the music as music should be - an art form.. Singers today see music as a way to make a quick buck and we end up with utter shyte like rihanna and britney.. She's an incredible artist akin to that of Aretha Franklin and Chaka Khan but born totally into the wrong age. I honestly believe bev is the most talented female artist this country has ever produced.. Music really isn't about music anymore... There are very few artists out there who are pushing out genuinely good work in terms of lyrical content, emotional delivery, vocal ability etc.. Even what I would consider as this generations best artists like xtina and beyonce arent making decent music, they're releasing utter sh*tty music and dressing like dirty sl*gs in order to appeal to the masses, make money and rip us all off... sad how we have allowed ourselves to become so shallow as a nation. Farewell to good music
