OGAE Voting 2011
Seeing Sweden high up on the OGAE voting fills with me confidence that Eric Saade will fall flat on his face which he deserves. Hungary up there, fills me with a bit of dread that this could be the Kate Ryan/Charlotte Pirelli of ESC2011, though I would have thought Israel and Austria would have been higher on this.

iTunes Chart: May 2011 (I)
Shame :( The thing is, people are too interested in party songs like LMFAO and feeble ballads from Bruno Mars who I have to say is the most overrated musician at the moment. WOW to Blue!!! I am confident it'll do well in the charts and Eurovision. We do have an entry to be proud of this year :)

Favourite songs when you were younger.
I liked the following when around 9/10: TOvcytygY_M I was very happy it got to #1 as I was so bored of that Wet Wet Wet song being number one for about 16 weeks. I even bought her album!! It wasn't that bad and she had a gorgeous ballad called "Close to you". Other songs from when I was younger: Whitney Houston - "I Will Always Love You" Shakespere's Sister - "Stay" Plus, this might be bizzare for a ten year old but I LOVED "No More I Love You's" by Annie Lennox. I was always upset every Sunday that she didn't beat Celine Dion off the top as it was #2 for a few weeks. My Dad even bought me the CD "Medusa" which I used to play a lot!! MS1jAvCycCY Shanice - "I Love Your Smile" QGXxcSdsXJ4 My Dad played a lot of Meatloaf, Queen, Guns N Roses, Poison and all the big rock bands of the time, so this rubbed off and I am a fan of all those mentioned. I was even upset when Freddie died although I was around 7 then. I remember my Dad treating it like a member of the family died! By the time I was leaving primary school coming into secondary, I was mad on Gina G's "Ooh Ahh Just A Little Bit" and developed into the Spice Girls craze!

Only Fools and Horses single?
I don't belive this made the top 200 at all!!! I remember it getting attention oddly enough. Perhaps it was released then DQ'd?

Only Fools and Horses single?
I remember that Ginga thing - to me that was the start of the beginnings of "chav culture" as all the chav lads at college liked that song.

Would the chart work with 50% sales and 50% experts?
I think Speech Debelle was a random vote, even to this day considering the competition she was up against I reckon they didnt listen to the albums. Makes you wonder if Speech sold her p*ssy to the judges. I mean yes we get random votes, but I think with this in the singles charts, it would work.

Would the chart work with 50% sales and 50% experts?
I have not decided to rank the top 100 for this week, but here is the top 10 being tested as an example. Public 1st, Jury 2nd, Total then pos LMFAO 1+9=10 4th WRETCH 32/EXAMPLE 2+4=6 3rd J-LO 3+2=5 2nd TRACEY CHAPMAN 4+1=5 1st CHRIS BROWN 5+10=15 8th SNOOP DOGG 6+7=13 7th KATY FT KAYNE 7+3=10 5th BEP 8+5=13 6th LADY GAGA 9+8=17 10th 50C 10+6=16 9th

Would the chart work with 50% sales and 50% experts?
I think a Critics Only Chart would work as it could give unknown artists the chance to shine. On top of that, 50/50 would stop acts going to top 10 just because of their name only regardless of the song. I think Lady Gaga would be punished for her two recent bad singles. It makes me upset that Bruno Mars will go to #1 with his current weak single yet someone like Chase and Status fail to hit the top 10. I would say there is "block sales", but what doesn't help is urban music is just hyped on almost every music channel and radio. Also with 50/50, the Glee stuff would occupy the bottom places.

Would the chart work with 50% sales and 50% experts?
I would make the album chart 100% public as I feel that has more prestige than the singles charts. 50/50 works in other fields. so why not the singles charts? Perhaps two #1s could be played at the end of the charts if both have different favourites?

Would the chart work with 50% sales and 50% experts?
As we have too much dominance of one genre in the UK singles charts, would a 50% sales and 50% expert say about 10 people in the music industry who vote 1 to their favourite and 200 to their least favourite decide who is #1? Who do you think would benefit? Would this cause a bit more variance and long stayers? I think a jury panel would favour Adele. Your opinions?

Official UK Top 10 comprising of download sales only?
This shows that physicals are more or less a dead format. The HMV in Birmingham City Centre has physicals which are off the X-Factor related acts, the charity single, the awful Haiti one, Peter Kay and Su-Bo plus some obscure ones which no-one bought. Downloads is the future and to be honest, I think you get a better deal with download singles.

Austria 2011
WOW! This comeback from Austria was well worth the wait with such a beautiful power ballad which I belive it has the potential to win the Eurovision this year. The song has a positive message, she is a great performer and her voice - WOW!!!!! This easily the best song of ESC11 and the best Austrian entry ever.

Melodifestivalen 2011
Nothing surprises me with Sweden.

Melodifestivalen 2011
Why the complaints? I think this is a decent heat. The songs are bit more adventorous than previous heats but Linda Bengizting, you've sent the same thing the last three times but made it a bit more modern for 2011. Try a rock song or a dance song like Love Generation! I never want to hear Lasse Stefanz again though - it's horrible!! My Rankings: 1. Linda Pricthard (She has an impressive voice and the choir works well with this rock ballad) 2. Melody Club 3. Nicke Borg 4. Love Generation 5. Anders Fernette 6. Julia Alvgard (Improved dramatically, but sadly I can't see it doing anything) 7. Linda Bengzting 8. Lasse Stefanz PREDICTIONS: Globen: 1st Love Generation 2nd Lasse Stefanz (Sorry, after the Playtones shocker last week don't rule this out) Andra Chansen: Linda Bengtzing and Nicke Borg 5th Melody Club (sadly that slapper Linda Bengtzing will make it to Andra Chansen :() 6th Anders Fernette 7th Linda Pritchard (four in a row with my favs missing out :() 8th Julia Alvgard.

Melodi Grand Prix 2011
--- Why didn't Norway send this?!?!?! This had potential to be the next Lordi.

Melodifestivalen 2011
"Kall som is" is a great song. That would have been a worthy winner in 1984 to "Diggiloo Diggiley"

Eesti Laul 2011
WOW!! Japanese electro in Eesti Laul! Again eliminated :( Shirubi Ikazuchi - St Cabah. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=376OGaaJDr8

Eesti Laul 2011
Two brilliant songs which were eliminated: Sõpruse Puiestee & Merili Varik - Rahu, ainult rahu http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EzHkH1Bk1LI OK, it wouldn't have done much in ESC but nevertheless a great song. MID - Smile http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X-oNjUxKsmo A bit similar to their 2010 entry, but with a bit more oomph. Good gosh, why can't we go down this route for ESC!!!!

Melodifestivalen 2011
My views on the performances of the four eliminated songs: Sara L - Very well performed and interesting choreogrpahy with the table and the dancers/backing singers following her around. Vocally fine, and this was robbery that it missed out. Seb - Vocally strong which Seb always delivers, I found the four female dancers in black wigs a bit weird, but this should have at least made it to the second chance round easily. A very modern and contemporary song. Linda - Catchy, and I did like the choreogrpahy with the guitars and identikit dancers. Well sung if a bit shakey, but I assume she is quite a young girl around 17-19 yr old. The only downer was this was too competitive a semi-final even if she had a good song. Simon - Standard ballad performance (he has the same haircut as me ;)). Reminded me too much of "Hollow" from MF2010 and Norway's ESC entry in 2010 both of which I dislike. Last was deserved, even if he delivered well vocally.

Melodifestivalen 2011
It seems I curse my favourites in each MF semi: Le Kid - 5th Annelia - 6th Sara L - 7th What's the betting my fave next week is last? I knew Eric would go through, and I kinda knew The Playtones would go through as Sweden does tend to choose the WTFers from time to time. I am very happy for the other Sara to make it to Andra Chansen - do hope she can pull it off in Andra Chasen too,
