The Georgian song isn't bad, but she can not sing live at all! She was just screaming the song live and it was very poorly performed. Take into consideration Diana and Sophia were off-key in the national finals, there is a chance this can be turned around and I think if she can deliver on the night, the Georgians will be making their fourth apperance in the finals, but I can see them placing around 14th-19th. If she still sounds screechy, I think 11th in the semis.
  2. My motto should be EVERY singer has to sing live. The only way to weed the ones out from the bona-fide genuine singers to the pretty faces is make it mandatory for them all to sing live and perform with an orchestra/band.
  3. My top 8: 1. Sara Lumholdt 2. Sara Vaarga 3. Sebastian 4. Eric Saade 5. Shirley's Angels 6. Linda Sunblad THE CRAPS: 7. Simon Forsberg 8, The Playtones.
  4. This is a brilliant semi final! I like six out of the eight songs particpating tonight! The only two I dislike are Simon Forsberg and The Playtones. My predictions: Final: Eric and Sebastian 2nd chance: Shirley's Angels and The Playtones (sorry!) 5th Linda Sunblad 6th Sara Vaarga (This will suffer the fate of Anna-Maria Epsinoza one of my faves of last year :() 7th Simon Forsberg 8th Sara Lumholdt (My favourite and they have a habit of being last)

Once again, another great entry from Germany :) This doesn't have the catchiness "Sattelite" had, but nevertheless, it's perhaps one of the most interesting and original songs chosen so far. I can't see Germany and Lena doing two in a row......but it's a shoe-in for the top 5.

A decentish entry from Spain, but as mentioned above it'll be their beloved bottom 10 position in Dusseldorf. I am happy "Eos" made the superfinal, but I think that would have been the best choice.

Valantyo Trifonos has the best song easily in this pre-selection. A very strong ballad and voice which I think could give Greece that elusive second win! I'd happily accept Nikki Ponte as well. It seems Greece know how to play this contest very well ;)

I had quite a few cassette singles, mainly of the Spice Girls, B*Witched etc those sort of bands that were popular in the late 1990s (Yes I am a 90s child!) The first album I ever bought "Whigfield" was on casette too - sadly the tape player ate it :( My sister used to record the charts off the radio long before that waste of space Reggie presented it and it focused on the music. MP3s are fun and hi-tech, but really it's just paying around 79p for a computer file!

A very poor pre-selection indeed from Spain. The only one that could do remotely well is "Eos" by Melissa. It's the most Spanish in the pre-selection and has a "Legenda" sort of vibe to it. I hope "Diamonds" doesn't gets selected. The little video is like something off one of those 900 channels off SKY!!!!

Disappointing choice from Malta. Very dated and has nil chances. Shame as he is a good vocalist. I wish they chose these three: Kurt Calleja - "Over and Over" (3rd position) - Mid-tempo rock ballad which was well sung and performed: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wb0DIAzkZ7Y Wayne Micallef - "Everybody Sing" (8th position) - Another mid-tempo rock number a la The Script: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pgQKZoF21ak Kellie Schembri - "Love me like your money" (last with nil points) - Very Kylie/Inna-esque and catchy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kZFlRrdCBtQ

Milena's song for Bulgaria: Very 80s/90s rock-chick esque with some great rock riffs and a touch of Bulgarian in it. I would love to see this in Eurovision and for once I think Bulgaria could qualify! This is her image btw: http://i.ytimg.com/vi/WNruACM0W4s/0.jpg

  15. 01. KLF Featuring The Children Of The Revolution - 3AM Eternal - Great #1. Still fresh 20 yrs on imo. 02. Simpsons - Do The Bartman - My Dad bought me this on 7" vinyl!!! Robert Palmer - Mercy Mercy Me/I Want You - Nah. 18. A Tribe Called Quest - Can I Kick It? - No you can't :P 22 The Source - You Got The Love - Easily the best version of this song. 29. The Farm - All Together Now - It strikes me more as a football chant than a serious song. 33. Whitney Houston - All The Man That I Need - Has a dirty version in my house as "He fills me up, with his willy wonka!" but aside from that, although it does pop in my head - I like it :) 40. Mariah Carey - Someday - Mariah at her peak. This song really packs a punch and one of her best. 50. Bananarama - Preacher Man - My ex collected all of Bananarama's back catalogue and I may say this was a welcome change from their poppy stuff. 65. Madonna - Justify My Love - This is a sexy song.
  16. 01.Mariah Carey - Without You - I think this is a good cover :) 02.D:Ream - Things Can Only Get Better {1994} - The anthem of New Labour, but nothing special. 03.Toni Braxton - Breathe Again - Beautiful soul ballad. 04.Enigma - Return To Innocence - Great ethnic/chillout tune. 05.Celine Dion - The Power Of Love - The Jennifer Rush version is 100000 times better, but Celine did an OK job on it. 06.Aretha Franklin - A Deeper Love - I don't remember this. 07.Cappella - Move On Baby - Great dance tune, but check out the live performance: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g27_buTv7Fw 08.Bryan Adams, Rod Stewart And Sting - All For Love - Meh. 09.2 Unlimited - Let The Beat Control Your Body - Meh. 10.Reel 2 Real Featuring The Mad Stuntman - I Like To Move It - Eww......why do I picture Jedward doing this? 11.Wendy Moten - Come In Out Of The Rain - Very decent Mariah-esque ballad :) 14.The Cranberries - Linger {1994} - They were the band of 1994. 18. I'm giving myself an element of suprise to listen to the Andra Chansen and Finalists songs until the Andra Chansen heat, but WHY WHY WHY was "Elektrisk" by Anniela voted out?!?!?!?!?!?! This was catchy, well performed and OK she was a bit nervy with her vocals, but she is a young performer with plenty of time to work on it and it's a very contemporary song. A total injustice that she missed out. Easily the best song of MF11 so far. My other favourites are "Oh My God" by Le Kid, very Alphabeat esque and would have worked wonders in ESC. "Like Suicide" by Christian Walz, which would have been a contemporary approach for Sweden and scored big with the juries. My guilty pleasure is Babsan!

Tommorow is not only Valentine's Day but the day Poland choose their Eurovision entry for 2011 in Dusseldorf. Ten songs are vying for the public vote, and these are the three that stand out: Magdelna Tul - "Jestem" (I am) - A Christina-esque up-tempo song. Has the best chances to do well for Poland: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HunRWlgr2yw Ada Fijal - "Hot Like Fire" - A very 40s/50s esque song a la "Candyman". I can see this with a brilliant performance. The Trash -"Thing's Go Better With Rock" - 80s stadium rock a la Bon Jovi/KISS. The UK is in the same semi as Poland so this will get a decent mark: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vt2p5JrrUNU Recap here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mxCnTegGTkk...feature=related
  20. http://www.chartstats.com/chart.php?week=19910824 Joint 21st with "Insanity" with Oceanic. I do wonder, are joint positions common in the 100-250 region?
  21. I have to admit, I was scared this was going to represent us in Helsinki that year. I don't even think Ireland or Malta would have been stupid to vote for him! He'd have made the woman out of Dervish sound like Maria Callas......yet again Albania gave 5 to her raping of a celtic song, so maybe Brian would have got 6 or 7...............
  22. The song title has conjured up images of Brian Harvey's of the same name from 2007! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nWSAc-Fyc1I
  23. Out of the songs that have made it to the final, it's between the two H's and Stella. All three have huge chances in ESC and would give Norway a very worthy result. Norra Noor was robbed last night, and I hope she gets a wildcard to the siste shansen round. It reminded me of "Tears Dry On Their Own" mixed with Erika Badu. Easily my overall fave of this pre-selection.
  24. Joinwithus posted a post in a topic in Eurovision Song Contest
Filipa Ruas it's the best choice for Portugal even though I fear a "Canta por mim" style result in the pre-selection :( It's something Portugal need to send to get back in the top 10 and it's very catchy which will help a lot. I also like Wanda Stuart's song which is a very powerful ballad, but I can see her emulating their 2010 result or even worse non-qualification. Rui Anderade has a very strong song too, and what will help his cause is the fact is very handsome and it is a very Enrique styled ballad. The internet vote winner Homens da Luta ISN'T THAT BAD! It's traditional, but I think it will only appeal to Spain and France :( It would be a HUGE risk to send that to ESC. I can see it finishing 3rd or 4th in the final. The last place Woodoo deserved way better - I wouldn't have minded that in the final and it would have been a modern approach for Portugal in ESC. Carla Ribeiro was underrated too - soulful ballad, even if it would have been dated for ESC - A nice bit of 90s retro.
  25. It'll flop because he's a crim. The UK doesn't take kindly to criminials in the charts. T.I. has had flops here due to his revolving door prison stays and Chris Brown is not popular either.
