Cheap and cheesy AOR song.
  2. Honestly, I would say Leona is finished. She really needs to change her style over, instead of these by the numbers ballads she is producing. She would have had a big hit if she released "Outta my head".
  3. Surely people have the song now? I could understand if it was his version, but honestly do people ALWAYS have to buy a song they hear on the TV?
  4. Gosh, why are people still buying "Monkey Knife Fight"? I think people seem to think they have an emotional connection with celebs. If Cheryl was woman enough, she should walk-away and file for divorce. The thing is, it's a relationship where one is feeding off the other.
  5. That Jason Derulo song seems to be a hybrid of Jordin Sparks "SOS", Lady Gaga's "Just Dance" and another song. Honestly, what is wrong with people inventing their own melodies? Surely it can't be that hard? Ellie sadly will be in the unfortunate position of missing the top 40 totally.
  6. Honestly, at music events and galas - it should be compuslory for all acts to sing live. I would go as far as an orchestra on stage. Imagine Cheryl Cole performing with a big orchestra - I'd pay money to see her fall on her arse :D

JLS winning Best Single shows why the public SHOULD NOT be allowed to vote. They are a disgrace to the UK music industry and make me ashamed to be British.
  8. Honestly, aren't we all fed up of this song and her? It seems like she is the "nation's pride" when really all she is a member of a girlband married to a footballer who can't keep it in his trousers. If she had any sense, she'd have left him ages ago.
  9. Shows that he is stone broke then. I know this is a different subject matter from the topic, but I can't imagine many artists living a rock and roll lifestyle. A lot of these rappers probably gain money in "other ways"
  10. I actually forgot about Akon. He is defitenaly Mr Rent-A-Rapper isnt he? Seriously, I wonder how much a featuring artist makes off a record? Surely with the amount paid to the main artist, composers and record company it can't be much? Mr Hudson probably lives in a bedsit somewhere.
  11. I have notice that artists like Mr Hudson, Lil Jon and Drake seem to get better chart performances when performing with popular artists than they do with their own solo songs. A few theories behind this I think are: a) People buy the single due to the more established artist which has the fanbase B) Record companies don't see a long-term success in these artists and prefer to let them work with a more established artists c) Luck d) Hanging on the coat-tails of someone elses fame. I honestly think Mr Hudson is just someone they hire as featuring artist as they know he doesnt have the potential to do it on his own. This is someone who has a very poor live singing voice and a limited fan base. They know he is a loss profits wise, and prefer to hook him up with a popular artist. I could not imagine a Lil Jon album as he seems to shout all the time. How did he get hired? What do you think?
  12. I don't think anyone cares about Leona now. If she wants to keep her career in the spotlight she should release the up-tempo tracks off "Echo". It seems she's becoming a one-trick pony with these dull ballads being released off the album and in that Avatar film. Give her a year, she'll be on the scrapheap if she persists like this.
  13. I don't see the appeal in that "I Wish" song. It's just a cheap copy of "The Loving Kind" but with pathetic lyrics and raped vocals. The single would have failed to make the top 40 no matter when it was released, and dropping 110 places shows the lack of staying power. Mini Viva live leave a lot to be desired I may say ;) Sugababes - whats the hate with Jade joining? People stuck by them through the awful "Catfights and Spotlights" era, why not now?
  14. Expect the Mini Viva single to make something like #95 and be out of the top 200 after ;)
  15. Last summer, Mini Viva, Girls Can't Catch and The Dolly Rockers were seen as the next big girl groups to fill the void in left by Girls Aloud. Mini Viva had a late summer smash with "I left my heart in Tokyo", while the other two struggled with their debut singles. Now, it seems the future is grim for these groups. Mini Viva limped in at #73 during Christmas week with a very poor follow-up which later dropped nearly 110 positions the week later. Girls Can't Catch had a top 20 hit which has taken a huge tumble down the chart and The Dolly Rockers are non-existent after being dropped by their label. Do Mini Viva and GCC have a future in 2010? My answer is no. MV who did show promise with the first single are destined to be one hit wonder material. They don't have a fanbase, their last single and the new single are very weak and interest in them is completely zero. I can see the follow-up making the top 100 and them disbanding or dropped by Fascination. GCC will have a lower top 40 single, a flop album and will completely be forgotten about as well. None of the girls are likeable, and there is always critism aimed towards them. The poor chart runs of their two singles also sum up their lack of popularity and this is just another side-project of Fascination records. What is your opinion?

I think these girls will be looking for future employment soon. This new song is "I left my heart in Tokyo" with a slower tempo and different lyrics. This will do out do "I Wish" and finish around #94. One hit wonder material.
  17. You could try this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Festivali_i_K%C3%ABng%C3%ABs_11 Just rid Simon and Cheryl ;)
  18. Erm, whats race got to do with it? If we go back further in time, Hot Chocolate, Aswad, Beverly Knight, Goldie, Eternal et al were all successful black acts. Plus the likes of JLS, Alex and Leona are not the best black artists. Geez, people seem to like playing the PC card nowadays. I could say the same with gay acts e.g. Will Young opening doors, but there has been gay singers long before who have been succesful. Enough with this. As for Glee, I think people have been brainwashed into this. It's just a show for kids, and impressionable people and people will buy anything.
  19. That I would agree with :)
  20. Since the integration of downloading and the lift on the cut-off point of when a song can be released, it seems as if anything can get into the charts and stay there. "Sex on fire" seems to be an eternal fixture to the top 75. An eighteen month old song, that rises into the top 40 with the slight play on a televison show or advert and is still being played to death on radio. Ten years ago, this would have been unthinkable. It would have had ten weeks in the chart and never be seen again. Yes, it was a different time with physical singles, but then there was a lot of excitement with a new number one almost every week and plenty of new songs in the Top 40. Why is this happening? Surely people would have bought the single in August 2008? Surely people would have discovered other songs off their album? The answer is, the very relaxed download rules and radio stations not being adventurous in playing other songs. Another answer as well is the record company - it seems the format now is two to three big singles, one other single with no promotion which does nothing in the chart. The charts are very static in 2010. Songs can spend an eternity almost, and very little movement happens. Radio stations seem to have narrower and narrower playlists than ever before. If you've had a mega hit in the past two years(Sex On Fire, I'm Yours), part of the X-Factor hype machine (JLS, Alexandra, Leona, Cheryl) or some latest sensation being hyped to the hilt (Justin Beiber). Gone are the days where this unknown artist gets their hit played on radio and it quickly gets picked up and a surprise hit happens. It's lucky for an unknown artist to make the top 75! Another thing as well is British acts getting a raw deal. Again, unless you are part of the X-Factor clique, collaborate with a US artist or have a hype machine - you are screwed. I think the media needs to encourage UK acts a lot more by exploring the vast minefield of talent we have and given people a chance. It's a crying shame the top UK act in the charts is JLS. In the US and the Netherlands - local acts dominate the charts. Why isnt this happening here? Are we not proud of the talented British artists that are out there? What shall be done to stop this? Personally I would have the following: a) You can download a song that has been on a TV show/advert but it DOES NOT count to the charts unless..... it is a song released from the 1st day of the previous year. EG cut off for 2010 would be New Years Day 2009. B) All songs would have a fixed limit of 12 months. c) Media to promote British acts d) Record companies to promote their artists more and not use a big hit to sell a song e) Radio to be more adventurous f) TOTP to return.....but with a music professional or a musician hosting it. Not Fearne or Reggie What do you think?

I am not being disrespectful. I am annoyed that Simon Cowell is manipulating people into buying this song, of such an awful cover.

  24. After all the discussions on promotion and the X-Factor hogging the limelight, here is a formula I have made on how to have a chart career if you're a new act or even an established one e.g. Madonna: 1) Have a big hit that will be #1 or there abouts, a second big hit in the top 5-10, then another track from the album which is nowhere to found in the charts and not to be promoted at all, because of the hype of a previous big selling single. 2) Be related to Simon Cowell in some form - Get instant top 5/10 hits and appear on his fake talent show. Care to agree?

Proof that the BBC does work, even if I don't agree with everything they do. If only ITV lost it's licence - Cowell would be fooked. I can see CH4 gone in 2010.
